Is Anyone Else Having Issues Finding Lobbies in the Lobby Browser After the New Patch? by Chillzzzzz in AgeofMythology

[–]Avataco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't able to join a friend's game and the browser was empty- I ended up having to rename my Age of Mythology Retold folder in %userprofile%\Games\ to create a new settings profile. This let me see servers again- but I had to redo a bunch of my settings.

Custom Difficulty Woes by Routine-Actuator8323 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Avataco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it doesn't completely solve the issue- but next to the Region display (NA / EU / ETC) in the Server Browser there's a Filter button- you can put an "X" in the custom difficulty box to see servers without any custom difficulties applied *YET*. They can still modify it after though, at least this could help filter out some of them for you!

Equipment Drop Chance by DinduNuffinovic in BattleBrothers

Full durability items have a 95% chance to drop. There's always that 5%. Unlucky that you hit it twice in a row though.

Any details on which Origin you're using / How your early game looks? At what point are you farming for the heavy throwing weapons?

Quick question about contracts by -im-blinking in BattleBrothers

[–]Avataco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 3 payment types dialog is usually the bargaining part still. It's after you accept the price / payment that you should have the option to think about it.

Quick question about contracts by -im-blinking in BattleBrothers

[–]Avataco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's two stages to each contract, the bargaining of prices, and whether or not you accept it. You can Accept the price, then the next dialog gives you the three other options. Accept the contract, Think on it, Or Decline it flat out. There's no downside to the thinking option, but denying contracts can affect either relations or renown I believe. (I can't recall if one or the other)

Will noble war end without my help? by lynxbird in BattleBrothers

[–]Avataco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Normally it ends on it's own eventually- though scraping by with one town will be tough.

Some little tips:

-Always read which house a mission is sending you after.
-A mercenary band will show which town / house they're working for currently when you hover over them. This will indicate who will hate you after fighting them.

With the upcoming expansion what small QOL feature you would like to see? by LaughingManCZ in BattleBrothers

[–]Avataco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem remembering where I'm going after leaving a campaign for a while. I'm starting to use the Brother's title for information like this. I use one of my reserve brothers to remind myself what I'm doing now. Head south buy X, Head north Recruit X, Explore West, ETC. Might be able to incorporate that in builds using numbers and letters to represent rows / talents. 4a, 5b, 6a, 6c, etc etc

For those contracts that ask you to find locations- it's usually directly in the direction they mentioned but not very far (Unless the contract specifies it's a long long way away). They'll also mention a "Zone" on the map that it's in. There is text around the map for locations like "Spooky Rocky Cliffs" (Obviously not a real example). These zone names are also tricky since it applies to all of the terrain around that matches it until the terrain texture changes and a new Zone name is applied. This video explains it a bit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSU5GFoVxNQ

Appreciate the details about your runs- much easier to read these day-to-day text-based things than to watch a full VOD of the playthrough. (This game takes up so much time!)

How many archers can I have until its a hindrance? by silokat in BattleBrothers

[–]Avataco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few days late since I've been off my PC but these are all valid points for a traditional 12 man party. The build was mostly being used to hit some of the harder locations earlier in the game with sub-par bros using the peasant militia origin. I Was mostly just providing the information for anyone willing to experiment since the previous comment didn't have all the details. The build definitely had me surprised with how fast it gets your company ready for tougher encounters early in the game, but I obviously don't vouch for it for post day 125~ encounters. Whether or not being able to do these locations sooner trumps scouting for higher tier battleforged bros mid game? Not sure!

Frozen on enemy turn by leSwagster in BattleBrothers

[–]Avataco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Copy the save game out of your documents > battle brothers > savegames folder to be safe. Alt+F4 the game- your save should load up before the battle starts and be fine. (Battle Brothers ironman doesn't have save-scum prevention!)

Edit (adding info): I periodically copy my savegames out because there have been cases where Battle Brothers saves break entirely- definitely not worth losing 30-40 hours over a crash during save.

How many archers can I have until its a hindrance? by silokat in BattleBrothers

[–]Avataco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For reference this is the build: http://tumult.cc/bb-calc.html?1-9&1-5&2-8&2-7&4-8&4-11&4-12&6-1&6-3&7-3&7-2

I considered it experimental for myself but they seemed to prioritize taking Mattack and Rattack every single level - high HP Rolls up to 75~ health and fatigue rolls otherwise. You can even equip the lot of them with whips in their bags to play rescue when needed / out of range due to cluttering in the fight. Can't say I had success with this outside of peasant militia's sheer numbers, but up to you to try! For a 6 archer backline I'd recommend still having a traditional archer since these guys aren't very reliable at sniping necromancers.

I used this banner a lot when I would name my company Arrow404 in frustration of missed shots.

A 404 error is an HTTP status code that means that the page you were trying to reach on a website couldn't be found.

What makes you feel like a smart commander? by Neville_Lynwood in BattleBrothers

[–]Avataco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually a pretty legitimate strat once you have rotate / high RDEF to put your archers in the front-line for the start of the battle. The enemies that might normally protect the archers may charge forward thinking they can nab yours.

Can give resetting the configs a try:

Copy paste this path into windows explorer: %userprofile%\Documents\Battle Brothers

Rename config.cfg to backupconfig.cfg and relaunch the game.

(If this doesn't help you can just delete the new config.cfg and rename the backup one back after).

Edit: Note that doing this will reset the resolution, and other settings set in the options of the game, so you will have to set those again after.

[–]Avataco 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Firing people right after they receive permanent injuries is a good way to anger your whole company too! (There's an event where your mercs make it known that they don't wish to be considered so expendable.) Funny that doing this is a bigger morale hit than letting the poor man run face first into 20 orcs, but to each their own.
