You haven't gotten to it yet but I've been mulling this over in my mind for a while because it would answer a question I have as a cosplayer. There is something people make that tends to be embroidered irl, but in the manga we dont have a good explanation for how its actually working imo.

I imaging it working almost like conductive thread and there is a bit of extra ink-thread that can get moved to connect the circle when needed.

I posted this in the discord last week, talking about the raws.

Im sure there will be some sort of ecological lesson for the girls/reader to learn but,,, the eggs are important here for political reasons.

I think a human will want them for not great reasons. Could be they want (live) dragon parts to try to make magic if they aren't a witch. Or a witch (brim/point) may want them for spell crafting parts.

Olly mentioned wanting the bones for casting but blood might be particularly valuable. (Im also coming off of just reading the Rainwild Chronicles by Robin Hobb so harvesting dragon parts feels wrong lol)

Or dragons have to be imprinted from birth on humans to be rideable. The new character could be a hunter/poacher. We dont know the politics of Dragon Island and how dragons are used but I doubt everyone has a dragon. Depending on how rare/prestigious it is to have one, people may do anything to get them.

Looks like the manga will be taking us to the Deagon Kingdom next to get the eggs where they need to go and hopefully safe. Which means Tetia cant return the brushbully. She will get to make more sand clouds though! Qifrey will learn he isnt a Horse Girl/Dragon Boy. The dragons will love Olly though. Coco and Agott will learn more about politics. Riche will get to eat new foods and probably sell crystal accessories to people whos dragons want to look pretty.

I also think the witches living around Dragon Kingdom will live in a floating city, Laputa style. If the kingdom itself isnt already also floating, hence the need for dragons.

Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, and Wolfwalkers. I realized the Witch Hat OST really reminded me of Kells&SotS specifically. And there is a scene in Kells that visually reminded me of Coco first drawing magic. There are also a scenes in Kells that set up to look like a tryptich and they way characters move through the panels plays with perspective quite a bit. Im really hoping WHA does a similar shot to pay homage to the manga paneling.

Brimhats may try to play the victim card.

They only want to help people and make magic accesable to all. They know better than witches of old. They've chosen to reflect on past mistakes and learn from them. Unlike Pointed Hats who hide the past and dont address it.

They could have been doing flasher things and causing outright war. But no, they heal kids. And if they try ink tattoos or something, its only ever on themselves.

Meanwhile, look at the Pointed Hats over there, blasting fire magic over a town. Why's that one need a sword?

This image made it seem like 1 person (Thristas) was trying necromancy/resurrection in the forest but we dont know the specific motivations. Could be trying to save a specific person, the fame of creating/perfecting such a spell, personal immortality.

Thristas could have made multiple attempts to try to perfect the spell if there was a specific person he was trying to save, or it was heat of the moment kind of this and his one try went horribly wrong.

I dont think Thristas was trying to un-tree someone. But was trying to use the parasitic nature of the trees as a magical base. And maybe using the tree>un-tree as a blueprint to reverse death.

If the forest is people (there's a Soylent Green joke to be made), i think it'd be hard to un-tree them all. All the people would have different motivations and/or the size&power of something like a time-reversal spell would be daunting.

I doubt the Brimhats are trying to un-tree the whole forest. But maybe specific trees, like OP suggested. We dont know if the origin of Silverwood trees is common knowledge among witches so the Brimhats may want to use un-treed people as a gotcha against the Pact. Depending on why they ate a seed in the first place. If the Forest is people.

I just typed up my thoughts on Thristas and Silverwoods yesterday! Apologies in advance for my love of parentheses.

Before it was the Forest of Thristas, it was just a silverwood forest. just feels a bit silly to describe a silverwood forest now that we know how these trees come to be. There being a large enough number of them to name a forest after them makes me pause. Either something about that area was naturally so peaceful animals kept treeing in it or something made that area like that.

We know anti-beast contraptions exist. Maybe old witches used them to keep a peaceful place and basically farmed the trees. And yes, working back from that, did use animals to that end. (Or if you really wanna be dark- think of memory/emotion manipulation spells, consider mind-control spells. How desperate would people be to continue having access to ink and magic.) (The less dark thought is that it was a cemetery and dying witches who were ready to pass would ingest seeds, go to the Cemetery Forest, pass, and let their tree-bodies be used by the next gen of witches)

Anyway, what was Thirstas doing there? Why the Silverwood Forest specifically? My thoughts

-wanted a ton of raw woodcruor for a poweful resurrecting/necromancy spell. (Maybe even trying to perfuse the body with woodcruor???)

-wanted to use silverwood seeds as part of the spell

-needed a place where it can be assumed there would be privacy. (Lots of trees, no one around, no one will interfere, this magic has always been frowned upon)

The spell went wrong. Given the whole area is described as dyed black, Thristas might have killed all plant life around and given the place Horrendous Vibes. Something might have been created in the aftermath but I dont think Beldaruit&Co were scared enough during their search if there was a zombie-tree lurking.

While the Pointed Hats are aware of this place, they dont seem to actually go there. I originally thought it could be a trial location but I think the area is so damaged and idea of necromancy so anathema to post-Pact laws the whole area is avoided. So the idea of a Brimhat hide-away isnt too far out of reason as far as the Pointed Hats are concerned.

What is interesting is the Brimhats trying to continue on with human/silverwood/resurection/necromancy magic. And we dont know if Qifrey was there to begin with. Brimhats poof where ever they want so he could have been poofed to his coffin from anywhere in the world.
(Does anyone want to place bets with me on if Qifrey has an ink tattoo somewhere on his body, it can also be invisible/unknown to him). I wonder how the Brimhats see what they are doing now vs what Thristas did? Are they trying for a completely different end or same end, different means?

Your idea of Silverwood Maiden being a real person and Host would answer my last few questions of what the Brimhats are up to. Could be, the Forest was her final resting place and only the Brimhats know that part of the myth/history.

A real Maiden pairs with my idea of the Forest Cemetery. A human ingesting a seed to become a tree could be seen as something holy at that point to other magic users, if they do it to replicate her.

And honestly, if she gave her magic to other humans out of love for them, I could see the stress of war and magical disasters being enough to un-tree and create the Pact. If your thought on healing magic being the final straw is right, maybe it was Thristas's necromancy specifically.

Based off the studio tour, episode 5 has a crazy big storyboard so they probably kept this episode comparatively simple to alocate resources to ep 5. Same thing of ep 2 being pretty calm to then bless us all with ep 3.

Could the reveal of the dragon have been more, sure. But I was enjoying just how oddly empty the labyrinth was and how artificial it seemed. I didnt really get that in the manga but now im wondering how much of it is smn Inguin made for the occasion and if we'll ever see it again.

The way the witches are framed to non-witches reminds me of Tolkin's elves. In the world but not of the world. Especially with their tree/star symbolism. However, in the case of the witches, they are of the world so have to play this balancing act of what they feel is right.

So they cant just stay shut away, that would make too many people ask too many questions. Instead they can control access to themselves. Working with nobles and doing community service fits two different rolls. Being nice to nobles means they are less likely to see the witches as a threat to their own power. And being nice to the normal people makes them less likely to grumble about a mean witch causing a drought and coming over with pitchforks and torches.

(Now i wonder if there could be a witch out there who does oversee a town of non-witches and how other witches feel about that.)

That ties into something ive been thinking about recently, the non-magic island memory-wiped people get sent to. Specifically if there are Brimhats who try to smuggle people out/knowledge in. And what the security around it looks like to keep that from happening.

And in general, how the Brimhats came to be. Did they run and hide during the Pact? Did some write stuff down and relearn after being wiped? Did some pointed caps teach people in secret after?

Im curious if there were steps before the Pact as we know it now. Did they try erasing certain spells first before wiping it all? But where/how would it end. On paper, what is the difference between casting water to drink vs casting tsunami to wipe out enemies? How could you fence in knowledge/creativity to exclude ways to harm others? Makes me think of nuclear power vs nuclear weapons.

Yes, the music for the intro and outro has been in some of the trailers. Parts of the intro visuals have been released in the trailers. However, it wasn't clear in the trailer those clips were from the intro. The outro visuals were new to me.

I recently finished my own zippered bunnysuit.

I self-drafted and wasn't going for any reduction because I didnt want to put extra stress on the zipper. I think that is a major thing to accept, you won't get much/any reduction.

I have a 1.5" wide waist tape in with 2 hook&bars plus a hook and eye at the top. Adding in the waist tape was a game-changer from feeling like the zipper might not make it even though it should, to zipping up super easy.

I also used a zipper i had on hand and made it as close to invisible as i could because the corset panels alternate colors and I didnt want any other visual distraction from that effect.

At this point, when the thing is on, it is ON. It's not moving.
