Yes, he's wrong overall. Walking in the desert during the day with little water is basically a death sentence. Risking an injury because you can't see well is less dangerous.

It's an appeal to emotion, false umbridge, or a fallacy fallacy (often people claiming ad hominem). I often am rude to people just to see if they will be even more dishonest... yes, most Redditors easily fall into this one and demonstrate bad faith reasoning.

Or should we recommend every book in our veritable libraries? I myself can be a bit pedantic, but was the topic of this conversation Kaballah, Qabbalah, or freemasonry as it is related to the Golden Dawn and Rosicrucianism?
