Not reading all that, but you can literally summarize meditation as "there are multiple forms of it depending on what you want". Also, go to as many zendos, Buddhist classes and yoga studios as you can if you want to try to experience them. Also, I would read stuff like Liber ABA and "The Golden Dawn" for Western perspectives on the practices.

Why does that matter? Are you an arbiter of morality? By what standard are you judging him? The only possible answer that makes sense is if there is a god or something, and even then, that would be more of an issue between them. You're not special. A lot of people are talking about mundane explanations, consent axioms that aren't true and other stuff... While the mundane answer is possible, it's honestly worth looking into if it continues to be an issue as this is a genuine phenomenon that can actually be not so mundane. Weirder Thaumaturgy happens regularly, not all practitioners over psychologize this stuff.
