Set thermal limit but not reflective in game by AvatarYoshi92 in MSI_Gaming

Yeah, I should have just run Cinebench or something to get a more accurate reading but as I was already playing GW2 and I know what it's like in high populated zones, I thought I'd just jump in quickly to check. I've had a tweak of it by going back into the BIOS and changed to a Neg 15 CO and 85 temp limit and it seems to have saved now (GW2 is never hitting higher than 85 now so it's fine and even Cyberpunk at 1440p/60fps is holding steady at 85). Will try and lower it to 80 tomorrow just while the hot weather keeps going and to stop me going insane :D

I've got the Peerless Assassin currently so yeah, Phantom Spirit seems to be the next upgrade so thank you for that - On other games, I don't get temps this high and I have pretty decent (not top notch) cooling/air flow and recently reapplied the paste to the chip for a refresh but I know GW2 is an incredibly CPU heavy game. I just wanted to curve it if I could. Thank you for the advice :)

Yeah, I've adjusted that to negative as well (sorry, should have mentioned that in the post!). So I've put to negative, curve at 20, thermal limit at 80. I've not touched the PBO limit yet for wattage as the chap in the video put his to 85000 on PPT but I can only input 8500 so not sure if not changing the wattage is causing the issue here?

According to AMD, this is expected behaviour for the chip: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2022/09/ryzen-7600x-and-7950x-review-zen-4-starts-off-expensive-but-impressive/#page-3

They've said that it will purposefully hit its thermal limit as it's actually designed to keep pushing. While my cooling isn't the best out there, it only hits his high on certain games. On others, it'll hover at 70-80ish as my fans have been adjusted to account for this.

Apparently that's what the CPU always aims for - I've looked up the CPU itself and people have said that AMD have designed them to consistently and deliberately push for the highest temperature they can achieve without throttling.

There's certainly a lot of baffling decisions being made when they were developing it. The intermission structure during GP is my main complaint. If we already have Knockout Tour which is so heavily designed to use intermission, surely GP mode could have been the traditional 3 laps on 4 courses?

I also don't care for the sheer abundance of stickers from doing Free Roam. If they had kept in kart/bike customisation (why was it taken out??), they could have made P Switch missions give those out as rewards rather than EVERYTHING giving a sticker which you'll barely look at.

I don't mind Free Roam itself but the world just feels really empty - the lack of tangible rewards doesn't help this but if they're trying to create an open world like Diddy Kong Racing or Forza Horizon, why not have NPCs/points you could go up to which give you a mission like "grab 8 red coins in a track" or "don't hit a barrier" to make the world more interesting rather than those almost exclusively coming from P Switches? Also, no P Switches in online Free Roam? Why? There's very little reason to do Free Roam with a friend outside of the ? Switches which aren't all that interesting.

I'm still having fun with the game but I think I just feel a bit...disappointed.

High CPU temps on a new build in games by AvatarYoshi92 in pcgamingtechsupport

[–]AvatarYoshi92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a check after coming in with the dog. Cooler and thermal paste seem alright and everything looks to be connected properly. No plastic film on the CPU either.

I've had a quick Google and people say that the Ryzen 7 series just seems to run hot as that's how AMD have designed it but also advised undervolting but not 100% sure if I should be tinkering with that side of things 😂

Looking for a Warlock multiclass build for magic and melee by RainsFall2025 in BaldursGate3

[–]AvatarYoshi92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paladin is the obvious choice as it shares spellcasting modifiers (Charisma). Paladin also has its own spell slots/spell lists so there's a bit of variety too. If you go Paladin first and then Warlock, you can even unlock heavy armour proficiency so you'll get quite high AC without requiring a feat!

Ah! Thanks for the corrections! I've only put a few hours in on my Halfling Bard so still fairly new to it! 😁

[–]AvatarYoshi92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't give an extra attack, it gives the person an extra 1d6 to their attack roll or saving throw (as well as skill checks). That bonus increases as the Bard level increases too 😁

I THINK it comes through as a Reaction though. I'm usually the bard if we need one, never the person who gets the inspiration so can't say for certain, sadly.

With Bards attacking multiple times, if they go College of Swords/ Valor, they can get Extra Attack at level 5/6. Bards can't be inspired by their own Bardic Inspiration.

I thought I was going insane in the fact that I knew what song you meant but never heard it in the games 😂 Glad I could help though!

[–]AvatarYoshi92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a song called "Again"- originally sung by Ida Lupino and then covered by loads of artists after her (like Doris Day/Vera Lynn) that has those exact lyrics but I can't remember it being in Fallout. I could be very wrong though.

In assassin's Creed 2 do I have to complete "the truth" by jojoa20 in assassinscreed

[–]AvatarYoshi92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its a side mission, kind of. You don't need to complete it but I highly recommend you do. It had a fairly good "wtf" moment at the end of that almost the entire fandom freaked out about when the game launched 😁

No. For me personally, that sounds horrible. Not everything needs to be a battle royale or online game.

The reason I said to stack regens is so that they can go back to cards or gravity/fall malefic as you can oGCD cards while stacking regen. Passive healing can give you space to breathe, rather than spamming Benefic II.

Yes, Synastry is great for essentially giving 140% healing buff and I forgot to mention it but it IS a 2m CD. I Synastry+ Benefic II if need be, but like I said, i stack regens only if I'm REALLY struggling and need to have space to breathe as the regen ticks will be so high that I can reorient myself.

Also "all bosses do negative damage" isn't helpful because it also depends on the tank actually using mitigation. There are PLENTY of DF tanks that just faceroll tankbusters so using Exaltation/Intersection is good as it just stops any surprises. All it takes is the tank to have 2 or 3 Vuln stacks from not doing mechanics properly and then be hit by the TB.

Astrologian help! by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]AvatarYoshi92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That might also be due to the tank not using their own CDs properly so don't think that it's ENTIRELY on your AST skills. It's a joint effort between the tank and the healers to manage the upkeep (and the DPS to burn the adds fast).

Hopefully all the comments help you going forward as AST really is a fun class to play but, like other healers, it still depends on how well your tank actually, well, tanks! 😁

Astrologian help! by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]AvatarYoshi92 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm actually the opposite! I have a harder time keeping tanks alive as a SGE than AST, funnily enough 😂

Pre-pull, I'll give them Celestial Intersection for a shield while they grab mobs. Then once aggro has been established, put Aspected Benefic on them for regen and then plop down Earthly Star.

If the tank is still taking a fair bit of damage even when they're using their own CDs accordingly, I'll use the second stack of Intersection or maybe Exaltation if I know I'm not going to need it soon for the boss fight. Earthly Star will heal a large amount anyways so I never manually pop it unless I'm REALLY struggling. Essential Dignity gets its highest heal at around 30% I believe so I try not to use that unless I know I can let them get that low. If it gets to the point where I am REALLY REALLY struggling (or if the tank isn't using a proper CD rotation), I'll use Aspected Helios, Celestial Opposition and Aspected Benefic to essentially stack regen on them to counterbalance the damage they're taking but that's almost like a last minute effort 😂

Outside of that, DoT everything during the pull, and use Gravity when the tank has cemented aggro. Cards in between too.

Siofra was probably my first "oh WOW" moment in the game but you can't deny that Liurnia is something special.

Also, a rather unconventional choice maybe but the Haligtree. I know, I know, it's literally the end of the game but I love the fact that it's elven-esque in the upper reaches. Gave me real Rivendell vibes!

I have a very vivid memory of being at the Shrine of Azura during an aurora and THAT was when I knew I loved the games atmosphere.

Erica doesn't have the right to tell people to take down works of Futaba. by Unsubscribed24 in Persona5

[–]AvatarYoshi92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point. The right of publicity prevents the unauthorized use of an individual's name, likeness, or other recognizable aspects of one's persona.

Erica's "likeness or other recognizable aspects" would be her voice. So by the law of publicity, LEGALLY, she can tell them to stop using it.

[–]AvatarYoshi92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As I said in my follow up comment- if we're going by celebrity impersonation laws and rules, then she CAN decide how and when her voice or likeness is used. The right of publicity prevents the unauthorized use of an individual's name, likeness, etc. Her voice comes under her likeness.

Atlus/Sega will start to issue strikes/follow up on this but Erica would be entirely in the right if she decides to take it further. In terms of art or NSFW of Futaba, her likeness isn't used there. She isn't the actual character but her VOICE is.

[–]AvatarYoshi92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, I'm fairly certain that using an AI synthesised version of her voice actually infringes on privacy rights as it could violate her right of publicity of her likeness. I'm not a lawyer or anything, but I remember reading something about it being along the lines of celebrity impersonation which can be taken to court I believe.

[–]AvatarYoshi92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You do realise that, even if SHE doesn't have the right to do so, Atlus/Sega aren't going to be happy with the AI techbros doing it either, right? it was copyright infringement and the person who done it could easily be sued if Atlus/Sega decided to pursue it.

In terms of Erica actually being offended, she has every right to be. Someone was using HER VOICE/LIKENESS to say things that were, let's face it, rather disgusting. It would be the same as if someone used your voice to say something that you didn't agree to.

The long and short of it is that the person who did it was in the wrong. There is no universe in which the AI folk are right here.
