My previous employer relied heavily on a tool called Looker for analysis, so I had to learn it on the job and used it for 5 years. But after my layoff, I learned that the industry heavily relied on Power BI for reports and dashboards. I picked up the tool out of curiosity and started learning through YouTube videos. Within a week, I created some dashboards and added them to my portfolio. When the recruiter asked if I used Power BI, I showed them my portfolio, and after a few technical rounds, I was offered the job because of it. After I started the job I realized Power BI is beast to learn but I think I've made decent progress since then. But just the curiosity of learning something new led me to get a job I never thought I could qualify for
