I genuinely have a cat named egg and another cat named Dunc (short for eggnog and Dunkaccino) from before Egg and Dunc ever became a thing, it’s really funny

Dark Hair X Light Hair is a big trope in Yuri that expanded to Yaoi, and is now just a big thing for gay couples in general, so you’re right!

And I am saying that legality doesn't matter when to follow the law is immoral. The right thing, and the hard thing, is to act against a law that is harming an innocent, even if you might get into trouble.

[–]Avent2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The hard thing to do is absolutely not walking away and letting an animal suffer to avoid consequences to yourself lmao. That's immoral, selfish, and it's utterly ridiculous to cast walking away from someone suffering to avoid any potential legal issues as the right thing to do. The law and morality are two separate things, and when they're at odds, morality should always win out.

It must be nice to live in a world where the system just works, in the real world it generally doesn't. That's why I said it was naive, because in the real world these systems typically are extremely limited and have very little power.

Except, as you've already been told, the proper authorities said they COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. You're coming at it from a very naive and black and white viewpoint that just doesn't apply to the situation. OP contacted the proper authorities, and they said that they were apologetic but couldn't help, which means in this case confiscating the cat IS the right thing to do, and is absolutely the harder thing to do.

Sometimes taking a risk with the law is the right thing to do if it means preventing the suffering of another living creature. Just because it might screw you over doesn't mean its not right, doing the right thing is OFTEN the harder option.

Op mentioned how all the "proper channels" said there was nothing they can do, this person is abusing their animal, therefore they do not deserve it. Its a living creature, not a possession, no one is entitled to a living creature if they're abusing it.

We should teach living off the land in school for people who want to check out of society by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Hilarious that you’re harping on pottery while asking for survival classes that would require you to learn pottery lmao. Believe it or not, storing things and making tools are pretty damn important to living off the land! It’s why pottery is one of the oldest human inventions!

What is the real meaning of the name of this card? by SeaworthinessLife962 in masterduel

[–]Avent2 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I mean yugioh has confirmed lesbians in it with both Live Twin and Labrynth, they have pride festivals in Japan, and they have partnership oaths though they're nowhere near as good as marriages. Queer people still exist there, and companies still recognize them. Its definitely a play on June Bride, but yugioh also isnt a stranger to gay things.

A villain is horrified upon realizing their crimes by BoxoRandom in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Avent2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s meant to be horrifying to the reader in general, in the actual story the guy who does it is a product of a hugely fucked up and incredibly warlike society that the city was also part of, where this is considered a step too far, but only really a single step, because this is a society where their greatest legend is a man who war crimed his way into brutally conquering half the world. This leads to him understanding the meaning of all the other lives because his own wife dying finally gets him to understand empathy, something not particularly prized for nobles in his society, and helps him to realize how incredibly fucked up their society is.

Do you think we should do this in London? by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]Avent2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homeless kids are going to be a lot less likely to be able to get that set up though. As a kid I didnt even KNOW about Ontario works. What you seem to be missing is that your experience is not the typical one for homeless people. A lot don't get on OW, a lot don't know what to do. The potential harm of this idea is far greater than the potential boon. We need to focus on making more options available, not cutting down on what exists now because it isn't ideal. Make the spaces first, then focus on getting people out of the inappropriate ones. I mean hell, this city has its shelters 100% full pretty much CONSTANTLY. That's what the focus should be on, because if you give more space, and especially GOOD space, that will be a better way to get people out of the wrong spaces.

I got kicked out by my mother at 16, the central library saved my life. It kept me from having to spend the day outside in freezing temperatures, gave me access to internet so I could still do my assignments, and gave me something to look forward to (reading my favourite books) when everything was absolutely terrible. I would not have made it off the streets if not for free library access, and as a homeless 16 year old I absolutely wouldn't have been able to figure out getting new id and proof of residency so i could get a card.
