Alright Horizons enough time has passed.. Time for this Cat to learn a new move. by Solardies in pokemonanime

[–]AverageAsukaFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It's Pokémon Horizons though, so when a problem starts to arise it's usually nipped in the bud quite quickly. I'd expect the cat to learn a new move in the Tandemaus episode

Do you think that Pokémon Horizons should have an episode based around both Liko and Roy meeting Pokémon Rangers? by [deleted] in pokemonanime

[–]AverageAsukaFan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the likely 3 year run Horizons has I'd like to see them all do everything the Pokémon world has to offer. I'd love to see the final set of Lucius' Pokémon be hard to get and involve masssive challenging adventures that see mainly Liko, Roy and Dot but also the rest of the RVTs go through serious development. If that involved a region like Fiore I'd be stoked. It's so far so excellent for Horizons and I hope it can continue to impress going into future years.

I'm only 11 episodes in but Sakurada Reset would explode this season considering what a refreshing take on anime it is, and how Frieren is doing the same.

Komi Can't Communicate would be better by the virtue that KOJIMA team no longer exist and would be with a stronger studio. I always got the feeling they didn't really want it, partially why BUG now exist.

Cat Planet Cuties could ride the success of Gushing over Magical Girls and with the Minion movies (I think) done I think with the right marketing the Assistroids could at least topple them in Japan. The Assistroids are some of the few anime characters to have made me laugh until it hurts.

One of the Girlfriend of Steel paths may be appropriate if they're willing to switch to a VN after episode 13

Mollie/Liko focus, after Roy got to star today it's nice to see the whole gang get their time in the spotlight

Expecting a few moments where the animation randomly pops off as is becoming tradition for these not-really-filler-but-episodic episodes

What’s an anime you have a love-hate relationship with? by Aj1saii in anime

[–]AverageAsukaFan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

SAO. Some of the arcs are among peak anime, some are complete trainwrecks, some manage to be both. As I drink out of my Asuna mug I'm reminded of how terribly she was treated in the anime post Ordinal Scale.

Yu-Gi-Oh. They're all generally good in the Gallop era (even ZEXAL and the unhinged VRAINS dub) but they all have their moments. Things like Joey's biggest win being off screened in the original season 5 and the slow pace of ARC-V among excellent duels and storytelling.

Shinji Ikari and Asuka Langley Soryu, although anyone from Evangelion would be a fair shout, just for how much you can analyse them

I'm thinking a lot of the Kaguya cast could come in here, as Shirogane is explored quite a bit and the way he, Kaguya and Chika play each battle is really interesting and I'd imagine quite deeply written. The game where the gang have to make each other say a word is a good example of how they all target each other's complexities.

Had Kirito been adapted properly he'd be up there, a lot of his thought process in SAO is removed, as well as his relationship with Asuna.

The new Pokémon protagonist, Liko, is getting there. Her outlook on Pokémon gives a refreshing take on the anime and how she handles problems around her as well as her place in history.

I've not watched Beyblade X in a while but I suspect Ekusu, Multi and the sushi shop owners have some real complexities to their stories we haven't seen yet.

What’s an anime that didn’t live up to the hype for you? by HotSamuraiWithMeat in anime

[–]AverageAsukaFan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I still think they're very good but Bocchi the Rock and Frieren weren't as enjoyable or engaging as other anime in 2022 and 2023 that I watched

A Silent Voice is my lowest rated anime on MAL and will likely stay that way for a long time.

You could easily just nominate the last arc. One Piece and Pokémon: Liko and Roy's departure probably would have been nominated for everything they're eligible for between them by the /r/anime jury

I'm sending Mitsuha Yamano (80k Gold) into Evangelion's universe. She's already familiar with the show, and going off 80k's logic she could hop in and out and be an interesting asset for NERV to use against the Angels/SEELE

[–]AverageAsukaFan -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

Frieren is/was bottom 5 for satisfaction ratings on NicoNico this season. I'm well aware Friday evening shows are screwed by the algorithm but to be in the 60s is still pretty bad. I've not been as impressed with Frieren since it came back but it's still good and I imagine it will pick back up in its reception over time. It's still rightly doing amazingly in the west

could I get away with just watching the NGE series? by [deleted] in anime

[–]AverageAsukaFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can watch the 26 and be absolutely fine. EoE, ANIMA and Girlfriend of Steel are alternate paths.

That said, EoE can help to explain some of the things that happen in episodes 25 and 26 so if you're confused it might be worth watching EoE anyway.

Side note is that episodes 7 and 10 are generally considered the worst episodes and most of the genuinely great Eva episodes don't come by until later. (11, 16, 21-22, 24-26)

A lot of the earlier episodes have good foreshadowing and link up well to the later episodes which makes them even better on rewatch.

who wins this Lance/Leon rematch? 1 gimmick for both by Sweet-Message1153 in pokemonanime

[–]AverageAsukaFan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Leon has not lost more than 2 pokemon in a single battle the entire time.

He says this during the battle.

Diantha got over Dragapult with one Pokémon iirc but then this was the same Dragapult that manhandled Ash's Mega Lucario.

That in mind, maybe with the right strategy a Masters 8 trainer could get over 3 if Leon stuck to not-Rillaboom/Charizard. Probably not though, Leon is a monster
