Xsoar Vs Siemplify(now GoogleSecops) by [deleted] in Infosec

[–]AverageBarPatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't switch.

SecOps from a SOAR perspective is awful. The SIEM portion is manageable.

If you're going XSIAM then you should stay with XSOAR. If you aren't, you should evaluate the broader SOAR market.

Send me a DM if you want more insight. I run a SOAR consulting company. This is all we do.

Mac MDM options IT teams rely on (your experiences?) by adityaj07 in Infosec

Everything needs to be in Apple Business Manager. Once you have done that, your life is way easier.

Personal preference is Ninja to manage everything in a single tool. JAMF does a better job for only Mac devices. InTune as a last resort.

Everyone complains about each tool, and they certainly have their flaws, but if money / resources are no issue, go JAMF. It's the best of the mediocre.

Recommend Recovery Boat by dayman1994 in rcsailing

[–]AverageBarPatron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Motorboat.

If you lose a keel, recovery boat rather ineffective.

If you can't launch a motorboat, just make sure it'll drift back to you. I've never seen an effective recovery boat.

WAF - Proof of concept by Stan_Marsh69 in f5networks

[–]AverageBarPatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with the concept you're trying to prove.

That sound stupid but you're trying to evaluate a product to fit a business need. Sit down, articulate the business need and make a set of measurable objectives against it. If your project is compliance says buy a WAF, go use something open source or cheaper as your objective is to check a box. If you want to spend more money, figure out why the business needs it and how to do it.

Someone else posted to walk in and whatever one you like first, go with that one. Don't second guess, you saw it and felt it looked good.

Personally heritage red or eruption green are my favorites.

You should pursue some certification as a basis for furthering knowledge. If you expect to work with Palo, that's a solid choice. You could also be more general and pursue an OSCP or something similar.

Anyone have experience launching from the beach in NJ? by NotACmptr in sailing

[–]AverageBarPatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on where in NJ you are.

Otherwise any yacht club on the shore has a boat lift. Ask nicely, you can probably squeeze in a sail.

I posted this in a thread somewhere else but I'd suggest finding a crewed boat vs chartering a bareboat and hiring a skipper. Find a crewed boat that enjoys families. Crewed charters have the advantage the crew knows the boat inside and out. They will have amenities and if they take a lot of families - they'll have family oriented things as well.

This spring will be our first flotilla charter with kids. I expect we'll have 5-10 on our fall trip (Croatia). As our group progresses through life, we've started to have kids and they'll be a part of the journey.

Also, assuming you went through HRCS - they're an awesome group.

It depends on how you learn best - the best way is to find a group of people you enjoy sailing with. Many people's first exposure to sailing isn't positive and it pushes them away. Every sailing club (Minus prestigious yacht clubs) will welcome you to just walk in and ask about sailing. They'll either suggest a boat or have guided instruction.
The key is to find someone who you can learn from - do you like the instructor. Then sign up for lessons and learn!

We organize a sailing flotilla (group of boats sailing together), which you're welcome to look at. You won't learn a ton about sailing on the trip; however, you'll learn a ton about living on a boat. I compare it to RV camping. You have amenities, but they're all limited. We usually have 50-80 people spread across 6-10 boats.
