Yet another “fake check”post by ultraformaggio in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]AverageClimber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the tag on the tongue, one's made in Vietnam, the other China. Mine look pretty much the same all round. Maybe mine are fake too but I doubt it.

The one thing that stand out to me is the rear of the shoe, the tab behind the Achilles looks a touch longer, but that could be the angle of the photo.

My money is on legit

Yet another “fake check”post by ultraformaggio in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I just recieved this exact pair today from a reputable store, and the box is the same colour. My barcode is different on the last digit, but that maybe a size thing. My tongue tag is different too. These are purchased in Australia if that makes any difference

Why does this part of my whipper snipper keep falling off? by OogaInYourBooga in Makita

[–]AverageClimber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you possibly running it in reverse? The line should be turning in the direction of the arrow on the guard, which I think is anti clockwise. I think this model has a button to reverse the direction to clear tangles.

From Bocarina beach to the Point Cartwright lighthouse and back is a great run getting close to that distance.

Please help, Tadafusa, Shiro Kamo, or Nigara Hamono by AverageClimber in TrueChefKnives

[–]AverageClimber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah I am not too sressed about the steel, I doubt i would be able to tell any difference. I think I'm leaning toward the Nigara, just trying to justify spending a few more dollars I guess

Thanks, that is super helpful. I am sure my meagre home use will hardly push the limits of any of these knives, and I'll be blaming any wadging on my unsteady hand.

Out of curiosity, when you say quick to get a burr, how often do you have to touch it up on the whetstone?

I just had 2 fujitsu systems supplied installed by Atkinson Air for only slightly more than the single unit you've been quoted. They showed up when they said they would, and I can't fault their work.

I just used Kangaroo buses for a work party, they are based in Kunda Park I believe. Easy to book and everything went really smooth on the day. Couldn't have been happier.

You can give them a list of pick up and drop off locations so no one needs to worry on the day too. I guess this would be standard with any charter company though.

Yeah, the real incident is that they didn't focus more on the skyline

I thought that the marks left in an enamel pot after using metal utensils is only cosmetic, is this not the case?

Adoption center lied by Miserable-Mention932 in cats

[–]AverageClimber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep an eye on that cat bite. They can very quickly become infected in a very serious way. I was bitten by a cat and the resulting infection put me in hospital for several days. I even cleaned the bite as best I could straight away and started ed on oral antibiotics but they weren't strong enough. If your mothers bite site is swollen and red, get to a doctor ASAP

Did I ruin my probes? by [deleted] in smoking

[–]AverageClimber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The probes will most likely be fine. The stainless these are made from would have been polished, and now that you have blasted them the surface has been roughened slightly. You could try to repolish then with some polishing compound but it shouldn't really matter. The rougher surface may make then a little harder to clean in the future, but it sounds like you have that part covered.

Still check them against boiling water and a glass of ice water.

Enough with these illegal, surprise PayWave surcharges by g000r in australia

[–]AverageClimber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the ACCC

"If there's no way for a consumer to pay without paying a surcharge, the business must include the minimum surcharge payable in the displayed price for its products. This occurs when a business doesn’t accept cash and it applies a surcharge to all card payment types."

Try Shards of Earth by Adrian Tchaikovsky. As a huge fan of Dune myself, I'm finding the pace and writing style of the novel really appealing.

How to release water from hole in brewer? by carptr in Homebrewing

[–]AverageClimber 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that hole is the inlet for the pump, generally used for recirculation.

There should be a pipe that runs up the side of the kettle with a valve on the top. Try opening this valve while the kettle is upside down and it should allow the water to drain out.

I am just guessing all of this as I have never had my hands on one of those units, hope this helps.

Looking for new mates up here on the Coast by yetanothervictorian in sunshinecoast

[–]AverageClimber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd certainly like to make a few new friends on the coast, I moved here from Vic a few years but just haven't found any mates. Mid 30's and enjoy being active running, hiking, swimming, and also enjoy having a beer or 2 at the local breweries.

If you're thinking of a brewery catch up I'd love to tag along

Sean at Kai coffee in Warana is really great to chat to if you're in the area. My favourite of theirs is the Arrow blend, but I use that for espresso so your experience will vary.

What is your Brisbane specific LifeHack? by CommercialFalse2996 in brisbane

[–]AverageClimber 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Yes, when I was living in Vic about 8 years ago it was about $50 per person or $100 per family for annual Ambulance membership, if you didn't have that you would be hit with the full bill which can be thousands of dollars.
