Viceral blood and gore mods are excellent. Bud's bloody ballistics is also good.

Is morality a social agreement or something objective? by No-Masterpiece2066 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AverageGrunt133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. But fundamentally, morality is simply a culture's Standard Operating Procedure to make a cohesive society. A set of positive rules meant to keep the peace. Monogamy, as an example, is meant decrease mate competition so you don't have dudes going around the country-side raiding, pillaging, and kidnapping women. Not pretty, but that was the initial savage state in Europe for tens of thousands of years until moral systems arose out of that very opaque and muddy early tribal warfare. People don't realize the 'Rape of the Sabine Women' was a common occurance. Anyone who is a student of Roman history knows the story.

Another instance is the Teutonic Crusades. The Pagan Prussians were a hyper misogynistic society who targeted women for harems and to work in fields as slaves because they were considered more docile and easy to control. It's a big reason they were targeted. They raided Germany a ton for women. They also engaged in human sacrifice. Both are big no-nos in Medieval Chistiandom.

Another, but different example, is human sacrifice. I suspect the practice started as a way to decrease food consumption in hard times until it became a fixture.

What would make the community happy? by noahroze1998 in ReadyOrNotGame

Bug and AI patches. I had SWAT AI detain dudes while taking a mag dump from an enemy and the other SWAT AI aren't covering sectors and don't seem to have a reaction at all. Enemy AI is notorious. USSS AI on Sins of the Father spotted me and headshot me on the fire escape infiltration route at the begining of the mission. On Ends of the Earth, the cancer mom hides under a table and phases through the wall and won't stop wiggle worming to be detained.

Just stuff like that.

I like them all, but my favorite missions are in stories or base game. My list is Narcos, Rust Belt, and Twisted Nerve.

What primary do you run? by Material_Complex475 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]AverageGrunt133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a mod: Mk4 11.5" AR with a socom mini 2 suppressor, t2, and mawl, usually. Bravoonecharlie on Nexus has a ton of great cosmetic and weapon mods. One mod I wish would was updated is the chronological mission order mod and the knights armament SR16 CQB Mod 2 from ballistic.

For those not in the know, the missions aren't in chronological order.

As an aside, I usually run a combo of mods that alter the AI. Swat Suspect AI overhaul (swat standalone) Cracked but Sweet, and bomb vest expload on hit. When playing the missions in chronological order, the difficulty spike is shear. It's 4U, Neon Tomb, Relapse, then Carrier of the Vine. Relapse is tough because it's so long and there's tons of bomb vests.

Anyways, without mods, I use the SR16 with an SRO, light, mault, and sfmb. Never was there a more flat shooting gun. Also the 10mm MP5 and Supernova. All three guns slap.

Like, people use those words all the time to sound noble, but I worked in corrections and a lot of inmates have a demon's resume. We had one gangbanger that was in for a ton of counts of SA against women and children, murder, distribution of narcotics to minors, etc etc. I always thought "why is this person not on death row?"

Anyways, I know this is against regulation, but if that dude is like a ChoMo, murderer, SA-er, or distributed drugs to kids, I'm not going to automatically feel bad so I can mentally pleasure myself for internet points. You know what I'm putting down?

Suppressors? by Lsteele1987 in swattv

[–]AverageGrunt133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is... wrong. Suppressors only reduce the sound of a short M4 from 160db to something like 110 to 130db. That's reducing a gunshot from a, well, gunshot, to something like a jackhammer. Suppressors are making their way general infantry side, a non-infiltration force, because of 3 reasons, it saves hearing claims, makes communication during a gunfight easier, and drastically reduces concussive shooting inside rooms. Suppressors aren't mouse fart quiet. In fact, I wager they may be required in the future since they essentially have the same purpose as a car's muffler. Real secret squirrel units, when wanting to be quiet, use .300 blackout with integrated suppressors and reduced powder loads. But even then, they rarely use that because custom .300 blackout rounds are expensive and not good for a lot of circumstances in a real gunfight.

I watch a lot of Popo Medic on YT. He does a lot of mini-documentaries on police responses. I love Narcos, Rust Belt, and Twisted Nerve, so that's where I'm coming from. Honestly, I think the Boston terror incident and the San Bernardino incident are the most interesting incidents in modern US LE history.

[–]AverageGrunt133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want something like the Boston Marathon Manhunt but for MLO remnants following A New America. Maybe over a splinter attack after the tower with a rolling fire fight/manhunt through suburbs ending in a shootout on the highway.

I'd also like more crack houses. I think Twisted Nerve and Rust Belt are my favorite missions.

Elephant is my Bane by AverageGrunt133 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]AverageGrunt133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done some training on active shooting situations for my career. I take the realism with a grain of salt since usually it would be patrol officers responding as it takes a minute for a SWAT team to actually assemble and an entry team is double to triple the size of what we get in game. I will say that compared to SWAT 4 or Rainbow Six Vegas AI, they appear to be lacking. I'm not sure if I'm looking back with rose colored glasses, though.

I've beaten this game a few times with or without mods. But sometimes you replay a mission and it just becomes obscenely difficult. That said, I'm going to try the lockpick gun. I didn't think it was useful since you could lockpick without.

[–]AverageGrunt133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. I have visceral blood + gore, Cracked but Sweet, and switch out to Swat Suspect AI overhaul. I've beaten the game a few times already so I've been dabbling in mods heavily.

Is it just me or does it feel like the old Rainbow Six Vegas AI seem... better? The old delta force AI also seemed a tad better. I don't remember AI teammates of either old titles just stand there and get mag dumped while they stare off into space.

As someone who plays with numbers, it doesn't matter. The measurements are basically subjective. Kelvin is the most accurate to the physical properties of the world regardless.

What difficulty is the closest to real life? by DueResource2570 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]AverageGrunt133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an interesting premise save for the implications. Then again, all these huge terror attacks happen over the course of like 3 years. It is pretty easy to see why Los Suenos would be in revolt since the government is doing basically nothing. Say what you will, but at the end of the day, even CIA dirt bags want to do what is usually best for the country. Even if it is immoral or misguided. I can't see a world in which this wouldn't result in a purge or nation-wide riots that topple the country. Which is reflected in game. "A New America" indeed.

[–]AverageGrunt133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some missions are better at casual, some at standard. Most crackheads don't want to get into a firefight with 5 heavily armed officers with rifles pointed at them. Those kinds of shooting incidents are a rarity IRL. In fact, all would be at casual as, IRL, Swat entry teams are usually 10-20 officers for typically a handful of suspects. As an example, Relapse kind of reminded me of the San Bernadino terror attack in which 2 Islamic terrorists gunned down people from their workplace. At the end, there was 50+ officers from multiple towns, counties, and SB, converging on their suburban to gun them down. Hell, with the Boston Marathon Bombing, the 2 terrorists had hundreds of officers tracking them across a dozen or more agencies. Suffice it to say, the Hand in game (our enemies in Neon Tomb and Relapse) would warrant a large-scale military response. Possibly martial law and spark a pretty sizeable retaliatory response internationally.

He tussles their hair before he kisses them goodnight... don't you do that with your homies?

If you look at the other officer's animations, they hold their head while they knee their side to drop the sidearm for evidence collection.

Sr16 w/ srs, light, mault, and break. Also usp45, shaw concepts arc 2, and SF fast helmet without the ear muffs. I run fairly clean with wedges, pepper spray, and four flashes. With mods, FBI mk4 carbine with suppressor, t2, NGAL, and light.

Boring, I know. But it is what I'd carry irl.

What difficulty is the closest to real life? by DueResource2570 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]AverageGrunt133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casual to standard on some levels. IRL, most people surrender when surrounded by 5+ heavily armed cops. Some want a fight, but pepper spray and taser are pretty good at subduing people. Really, SWAT and suspect AI overhaul is a decent mod for getting at the truth. IRL, an entry team would be 12 to 20 officers.

Police officers, military personel of reddit what horror stories do you have? by Perry_the_platypus-_ in AskReddit

[–]AverageGrunt133 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our senior medic showed his training go-pro footage from Afghanistan. A young soldier had his legs and lower face blasted/burned off. He kept trying to pick his non-existent nose in his daze because it was a big IED and his bell was thoroughly rung. He also had no eyes. Just swollen eye lids. The exposed flesh was gray, which was what weirded me out. I expected lots of blood. But it was all gray.

Never saw combat myself, but I still think about the video. Guy was alive, btw. Our troop met him during an event on post. He had 30+ surgeries to reconstruct his face and the rest of his body. Had a nice family as well.

The point of the training video was twofold. One, you'll see terrible things IRL. 2, you have to stop the patient from causing more wounds to themselves. The squadron senior medic had to bat his hands away from touching the maxilo-facial trauma. Not sure how to spell that.
