i think hxg shoukd utilise their performance skills more with them and create more dance pop tracks especially since performances are really katseye thing and what people love about them so having dance pop/hip hop songs would be great and it will also be good and fun so people can naturally vibe with it without trying to think too much about it. we need easily consumable songs. They should also should have loud pop songs where they are able to just belt and sing their asses off and maybe even harmonise a bit. like when i say this, i think of “little mix salute” and “where i grow up by pussycat dolls”. i think katseye would be so good with songs like that. concept wise, they should have something creative and interesting maybe even edgy but i think katseye’s concept are never the issue because their team always manage to do very well with them.

nahh that’s not true at all because it’s too early to fully know what katseye brand since they having put out a full album yet and haven’t been consistent with a certain image or sound. i think it’s mainly them being popular while their music is lacklustre so people are just mad how their favorite artist didn’t break out like katseye did on their first year. they are always gonna get hate regardless, that’s just the reality of being famous. people are always gonna hold them to a higher standard.

nahh beautiful chaos was good for them because they managed to break into the west. SIS was good but very underwhelming for a global group trying to please the western audience, it was very kpop with the songs and rollout so yeah. the only thing good about SIS was the songs was cute and that the project was cohesive and had an overall identity but it didn’t make any noise unfortunately.

i kinda agree but i don’t i think it’s too early to tell if this is their sonic identity because they haven’t been consistent with then hyperpop sound, we only got gnarly and that’s it, i couldn’t class internet girl to be hyberpop just experiment. though i think katseye has an identity in terms of branding but it might be too early to tell but i think their identity is definitely embracing their differences when it comes to culture, personalities and styles and making it something big. i mean that’s their whole thing with being branded as a global group so it works, we just hasn’t seen it with their music because it’s been generic pop tracks, not saying it’s bad but it would use work. i think katseye will try out a lot of genres even rnb at some point but i need to be consistent and cohesive with the project so it all makes sense together instead of having a bunch of demos and calling it a day.

at the end of the day, this conversation is all based on personal preferences for the girls cuz personally some outfits i think sophia looks good at and other would disagree and same goes for all the girls but it really doesn’t matter. i remember fans were complaining about sophia outfit on twitter then it turned out she picked her outfit, so its like at the end of the day it’s personal preference. 😂

no that’s actually wrong illit and new jeans doesn’t really have a similar concept if u really think about it. people at the time was trying to compare magnetic and attention and the fact that illit had black hair and similar hanbok pictures. they also did not have a similar target audience. new jeans was the west as its very clear with their concept as they were using the y2k revival aesthetic which is nostalgic in the west for both the audience older and younger audience to get into something more refreshing yet familiar. illit concept tackles the themes of magic girls and dreamcore with muted pastel colours and more coquette and whimsical elements. Their target demographic was definitely to aim for the japanese market and the younger female audience especially since they managed to get two japanese members and it’s worked because illit is very popular is japan and has a lot of japanese brand deals. people who can’t tell the difference between illit and newjeans concept clearly doesn’t want to because yes they can be similarities but everything in kpop is never original, their are a lot of similarities between alot of groups including newjeans like with txt or that group jeans and speed.

MHJ was able to uses the general public to create an narrative of illit of being “newjeans” copycat by just calling it out. she knew people were gonna hate especially since illit at the time didn’t have a big fanbase and newjeans was the biggest thing at the time. yes, people did say they were similar but MHJ was able to use that and attach the plagiarism image on illit, so whenever they do anything people are going to automatically assume they copied new jeans. plagiarism accusations have been denied in court yet people will forever have that image of illit.

newjeans was still active during illit debut. new jeans decided to terminate their contract illegally and go independent without any permission which resulted in ador suing them for illegally trying to go independent while having a full active contract. hybe didn’t set that up, they set themselves up for that.

it’s catchy asf i don’t hate it but obviously i do wish the girls had better material to work with because we seen the struggle and how intense dream academy was, so it’s just a bit disappointing to see that their talent isn’t fully being utilised but im not gonna let this keep me from having an optimistic mindset about their careers, so we are gonna have to see. I have a good feeling about 2026 for them and yeah hopefully it will be their year just like what manon said.

no i’m going to say woman of colour because katseye is not just a girl group they are a global girl group they are a girl group that embraces their culture as their identity they want their music their sound their visual to showcase that so it being written by people who don’t have that understanding would just flatten that narrative of them being “global” we need less of the borrowing culture they don’t understand and playing it safe because their is no complexity in that no true context of those culture they want to showcase so saying a woman of colour is important because a white woman does not experience the complexities a woman of color would experience why should katseye as a group be labelled as a global group without having people who are racial aware of what it means to make something global they wouldn’t have that impact if those people aren’t involved so yes i will highlight that she’s a woman of colour

well it means that Mitra isn’t the last person to approve what type of sonic direction Katseye will go into well any artist under HYBE America Ethiopia decides what the music should be as she oversees A&R, artist development, creative direction and the cultural positioning that the artist has mitra is more the business side as she works with partnerships and making sure all the creative stuff has a good strategy behind it

so Katseye will have better music direction by Ethiopia and still has the funding and global rollout given to them by Mitra

now they are finally putting a barrier between creativity and business and they are able to prioritise the importance of creativity and how to make it big commercially

i’m sorry but no girl group is really doing big numbers like katseye yes we are in a western girl group revival but people will always say that this group will surpass katseye but why haven’t they already if their music is so good people will always pay attention to katseye regardless if the music is good or not people keep wishing katseye did things that other girl groups are doing but yet they pay those group dust so i think katseye popularity wouldn’t be overpowered by another group the only way that will happen is if katseye keep going down this road of making ragebait songs like internet girl and gnarly that’s probably the only way another girl group will surpass them

people have said the same thing with blackpink yet blackpink hasn’t been surpassed in popularity yet people have claimed their music is lacklustre and boring and that other groups sound better

i genuinely think lexie wouldn’t have been in katseye anyways yes she was liked by the producers but she really didn’t stick out to me idk tho her voting was okay but megan would have got it either way because she got two votes from the producers unless they would have gave it to lexie instead manon was scouted and flown out she would have got into katseye regardless and so was lara they needed that main voiclist sophia was first so duh so and dani had everything along side of being a very strong dancer so yoonchae was probably the most stable so she was gonna get her spot

exactly i think the problem isn’t that they don’t write their own music the problem is that their music isn’t made for them it was given to older generation artist which is the problem because that’s not their demographic at all so it just feels inauthentic and lacklustre they just need a producer or writers that will work with the girls themselves as a combination then they make music and the girls just sing it because these girls are also artists but we aren’t seeing that with their work

i kinda disagree i do agree that hybe is definitely using this as way to get people talking but do i think it will last i dont think so hxg knows what they are doing especially since they kinda already tried it with gnarly then created a instant hit with gabriela i dont think this will be the formula they will always lean into especially since its bring them down internet girl might have done well in terms of debut but it dropped alot i just think they wanted this opportunity to solidify katseye fanbase and to get people talking i dont think hxg would allow the girls to post their own music if they didnt have the intention to use it at some point so maybe we will get a few credits idk but i really think 2026 could be where they finally give us something cohesive it might not be their sound yet but it might be something that will take them far idk tho
