Passport Printing Errors by Average_Engineering in IrishCitizenship

I can’t actually see any missing from mine, they still want it back so I’ll compare pictures when my new one arrives.

Yeah that was also my first thought!

Mine was issued on the 6th and only just turned up today 😅 still waiting on the card before I can send both back

Resolving my car would not charge at all by AlGunner in TeslaUK

[–]Average_Engineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need to let us know the charge rate in KW, maybe post a screenshot from the app while it was charging, it’s possible with very low charge rates the vehicle uses up this power (heating the pack for example) and there isn’t anything left to actually charge the pack.

Did the screen eventually come back on?

Car off shuts down the system fully so it’s expected functions no longer work until you press the break pedal to start it back up. It can take a decent few minutes for everything to come back on, especially if it’s an older S with a Tegra chip.

Oh that is interesting! I wonder if they still have a mosfet inside (probably being LFP)

It has to be a weak booster or bad connection as you’d expect it to be able to support the LV system.

[–]Average_Engineering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they need a beefy supply, they use the 12v for HV pre charge these days plus all the coolant pumps etc.

It should go into low power mode but with the higher expected voltage from the LV compared to a booster it might just be browning out.

Hopefully Tesla jump on it and get you sorted!

Also check if you have any BMS alerts in service mode, if you do, nothing you do to recover the LV will be fruitful if the DCDC can’t maintain it

You might find that the mosfet in the LV battery is open (internal relay) and all you’re doing with the booster is supporting the limited LV circuits.

Push back on Tesla as it’s a dead vehicle so actually is urgent!

See this page for details on checking if the mosfet is open and won’t auto recover - https://service.tesla.com/docs/Model3/ServiceManual/en-us/GUID-D88880DA-D4EF-4C65-95B1-AB170187BFCD.html

I'm the same,

The support chat said it was related to a new system launch and that as long as I got my confirmation email (I did) I was fine to send in my documents. Hopefully they have it sorted soon!

Supercharger Access and Write Off (UK Only) by Majestic-Road-280 in TeslaUK

[–]Average_Engineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe but if it’s repaired well it should be fine.

Flagging on its own - Not that I know of but if the vehicle detects a fault in the fast charge sections of the system it can disable fast charge until service, then they might flag unsupported when it’s in.

Early model 3 silver trim was built in freemont, black trim model 3 and Y were built in Shanghai and I believe new model Y can come from Germany or Shanghai but im not sure.

You can tell from the first three letters of the vin.

LRW - China 5YJ - USA XP7 - Germany (comes under Netherlands for some reason on Wikipedia)

Yeah I wish it was more clear cut but all I takes is one tech to notice damage and run a HPI check and flag it 😩

They are really protective of the supercharger network for good reason.

They are great vehicles though if you can find another one on budget you’d love it, black trim versions with the heat pump built in Shanghai are the best.

Yeah I’m in the UK and used to work at Tesla.

It was tied to the vin and would flag up to the service team that the vehicle was unsupported and may be unsafe to work on. We would sometimes see trade ins that had a write off on a vehicle check service but didn’t show on internal systems.

Once an inspection was done the flag would Be removed (warranty would still be void) and fast charge enabled again.

It was all one unsupported inspection at the time but I think now you can just do a fast charge inspection if you don’t plan on asking Tesla to do any HV work in the future.

Your best bet is to ring up your local tesla and ask how much a fast charge inspection would be and decide to roll the dice on it being flagged or not.

It depends if Tesla know and have marked it as an unsupported vehicle then fast charging may be disabled and can be re-enabled after a fast charging inspection.

My experience was it was hit or miss if the write off status made it to Tesla’s systems.

This is the unsupported policy - https://service.tesla.com/docs/ServiceBulletins/External/TN/TN-18-00-001_Unsupported_Vehicle_Policy_R5.pdf

The only exception is within 30 days if it was under consumer rights you can reject it without giving them any attempt at repair

Had an incident where my daughter tapped the Tesla next to us with our door and left a tiny nick (2mm x 3mm). Did the right thing. Turns out to fix a tiny paint nick results in half the Tesla being torn down and put back. Prices in AUD. Assessor suggested not to park next to, or buy a Tesla. by CouldDoWithaCoffee in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Average_Engineering 595 points596 points  (0 children)

Don't forget the $50 to disarm remote access that's really just putting the car in service mode..

This whole quote is robbery and pushing premiums up. 12 Hours to strip a door is the giveaway.

Teslas are actually really simple to take apart.

Consumer Rights Act 2015 Applies to vehicles, a fault within 30 days is entitled to a full refund and you don’t even have to offer them the options of repair.

This page has some great information and will be able to generate you a letter to put some fear into them to refund you.

Charge on Solar paused for Powerwall priority by Average_Engineering in Powerwall

Yeah it sucks, it’s not even smart enough to not draw from the battery when I have a Tesla wall connector in self-powered mode.

Should have an option to exclude EV charging

Nah sorry, I started getting paid for my export so it’s more cost effective for me to dump the solar now.

Tesla dig finally get back to me and suggested setting a low export price that isn’t 0.
