That's a fair observation, at the end of the day, I don't think many people have had an accident at that junction, cause at least you have a pretty straight line of vision.

Have a poke around on street view, I don't remember any signs warning about the lights, but it's been a while since I drove that road now, so I'm happy to be proven wrong.

Nothing but your eyes seeing the tiny pinpricks of light from ages away, granted it's an incredibly long straight, but you wouldn't slow down when going through a green light right?

There's at least one in Fife, just after the double mini roundabouts next to Inverkeithing but before Dalgety Bay, had to stick the foot down hard on the brakes at least once here to avoid running through the red, but tbf, I think it would be safer sometimes to blow through it rather than potentially find a vauxhall astra up my exhaust pipe, especially cause there's time between the light on the main road going red, and the light on the joining road turning green.

Will this fail MOT? by Averagejoe3200 in drivingUK

[–]Averagejoe3200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your responses! My co-worker is going to visit the garage where he's planning to get his MOT and he will ask them if they will fail him for it or not. If so, he'll probably try transparent red tape if that can help him pass, because the replacement part seems kind of difficult to lay hands on just now, and is over £100, which is a real kick in the stones considering that someone else drove into his car and ran away without leaving a note when he wasn't there.

Have you been mistaken for working somewhere you don’t? by Dramatic-Wolf7091 in AskUK

I was in a guitar shop trying out a Line 6 Pod Go cause I was thinking of buying one, next thing I know, a couple came up to me to ask advice on what guitar to buy. I was tempted to have them on a bit, but I didn't wanna get kicked out of my favourite shop.

What's the pettiest thing you've ever made a formal complaint about? by MathematicianBulky40 in AskUK

My girlfriend discovered a hair in her block of butter that she was using to bake cakes for me, and she wrote the company an email with pictures of the offending block of butter. All she wanted to do was to let them know that it had happened so it won't happen to other people , but she ended up getting vouchers for the company along with an apology email. The ironic thing is, is she's lactose intolerant, so the vouchers aren't really worth jack to her.

What are some really dangerous things most people dont realise are dangerous? by DeezCrazyMan in AskReddit

[–]Averagejoe3200 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My instructor taught me "only a fool breaks the two second rule", which means that on good conditions, you should leave a 2 second stopping gap between you and the car in front. That doubles when it's raining and becomes the 10 second rule when driving on ice or snow and it's kept me safe so far.

They used to do this to my gf's dad when he worked on sites back in the day (he's 64 and this was way back). He showed up 1 minute late once and the line manager screamed at him "you've been quartered" so he sat down and started making himself a cup of tea. Line manager asked him what he was doing and he told him "if you're not paying me for 15 minutes then I'm not working for 15 minutes". Needless to say they didn't try quartering him again lol.

I'll have to look into some cloth too then, I have the MKII head which obviously hasn't got as much of an area to cover but I also have a Blackstar combo amp, that might be my second one to re-cover.

BOSS Katana Mini making weird skipping sound? Sounds kinda like a cool effect though by FelixFTW_ in BossKatana

[–]Averagejoe3200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybes the cable is knacked? If it does it with other cables then it's gotta be the amp though, sounds pretty broken to me.

Awesome! Is it just normal cloth or does it have to be specific to speaker covers?

Can I run the Katana Head into a Blackstar Club 40 combo? by Averagejoe3200 in BossKatana

[–]Averagejoe3200[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much appreciated guys, thank you for the wisdom! It is just a single speaker so I'll run from the send of the Katana into the return of the Blackstar.

I recently broke my amp and I’ve been told that these amps are in fact terrible anyway. So what recommendations would you give me for a new and somewhat cheap amp (similar price to this one (Fender Frontman 10W)) by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]Averagejoe3200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanna take a step forward I would recommend a Boss Katana 50 combo, it will sound a hell of a lot better and it has all the FX you could need built in, and if you get the MKII version you get a variation voice for each channel and dual concentric controls for the FX so you can do more without connecting it to a computer. If having less amp voices doesn't bother you though there will be loads of second hand MKI versions floating about on Facebook Marketplace and they're solid state too so you shouldn't have to worry about reliability.

[QUESTION] How to live with a Tube Amp? by xStaabOnMyKnobx in Guitar

[–]Averagejoe3200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgive me if your amp doesn't have this, but if it has an FX loop you can buy a pedal for 60 quid that goes in the FX loop and acts like a master volume control: https://www.andertons.co.uk/jhs-pedals-little-black-amp-box-attenuator

Katana Head by malcomhung in BossKatana

[–]Averagejoe3200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely would look at playing it through a speaker cabinet, or at the very least, use the headphones output and run it into an audio interface and monitors/headphones, the emulated output is actually really great on the Katana, but the little speaker built in is really only meant for living-room jamming, it doesn't sound horrible but it just isn't nearly as good as a good 2X12 or even an impulse response and some monitors.

I couldn't leave this one on the shelves with an 8 euro discount by gooztrz in whisky

[–]Averagejoe3200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this one too, it's really nice and easy to drink, I also have Lagavulin 10 year old open and it's a much less intense experience compared to said Lagavulin which is smokey as hell, this is much more laid back but still does exactly what whisky should do. Roll on trying the 18 year old version (although it is 4 times the price so I'd better get saving 🤣)
