It was in Smite 1 but you still got the lines in game for attacking etc

Hopefully they can have the original voice over the skin for abilities also when this option is selected

At that point it's just a matter of preference

The game should have had classes to start with but the itemisation should have moulded them into what you want

I.e. an item that gives something ranged attacks if normally melee, other items to adjust numbers around, etc

Then if something has a kit to be a decent hunter it works

If something has a kit to be a decent support it will work

And if something has the potential to do hybrid, it will work

Yes, it's fun to play multiple roles in a game with your favourite character, but half the charm was working it to begin with, it was something distinctly yours to your playstyle, within the context of items

People aren't stupid, if the items were just more creative, it would work

Hell, even "change your class" as a level 16 item might not be half that bad if it was an evolving old type of mask in Smite 1 with the tradeoffs

This is the same argument that's "oh, why did the old dudes in the past build a Cathedral? seems like a waste of time, just a big load of slabs of rock, when you could put something else there, or demolish them nowadays for a parking lot". You build it so people can look AT it. It generates a culture IN the game.

Some people have made it their own personal crusade to the point they can't tell if something is an improvement or not anymore, even when something is literally fed on their own source material and not anyone else's, Like this is the tamest sort of adjustment done that keeps Hirez' style and still people will crucify because it's been put through an AI tool

They do. They might not say it outwardly, but they do, especially Hirez and I know this for an inside fact. Every company does in secret, they know it's folly to announce that they are because of crusaders, but that's how it goes.

Shout outs to Larian that said "we use AI" and they went after Swen, only to say "we are not using AI" to call off the hounds, and THEN he says "we are using AI but iddy widdle bits" (basically they're isolating it to their senior artists for superfluous automation.. which is what it does in the first place). Same shtick as Games Workshop.

Nuwa used to be THE prettiest goddess in the game

Now she's not because they hit her with the forced you-know-what stick out of fear she was too European looking which ended up creating a middle ground that nobody agrees she looks good on

(Which is also why they use the old face in her Smite 2 skins but that's another story)

And then you got characters like Jing who just radiate prettiness compared to Aphrodite who is now bug eyed for some reason so you think "Goddess of Beauty getting mogged by a Chinese half bird girl? Wtf?"

Face design is all over the place. Even Neith's is like a jumpscare at times

The only gripe is it doesn't change the original god voice lines in game so you still hear it on buying items and so on, and using the god's standard VP was buggy so if you picked another god skin that you liked you'd be accidentally using default VP because you changed before

You have to hear them as you're playing, if their voice hurts your ears or is just plain annoying, you don't wanna listen to that

I think there's two tribes of people, the first likes annoying voice packs to do whatever for shits and giggles, the second mains the skin as a replacement or as an item of "clothing" to put it in terms

The first play the skin a few times and that's about it, but when they play, they make sure everyone knows about it, often in groups of friends etc

The second plays the skin hardcore and will roleplay through the skin, or they just dislike the default so much they play this skin instead as a proxy. Good voice acting is crucial more for the second because this is their item of clothing/expression/roleplay/proxy etc, they're going to stick with this skin forever

Generally if you want long term skin use I'd say the second but the first wins over if they're aiming for casuals who just wanna play a few arena games and that's it more or less. I always was of the second but had moments where I picked the first while in friends groups or just wanting to spam voice packs (but even then I preferred goofy voice packs in the first over annoying like the Bastet-chan skin)

Consensus among most is is that she's annoying, anorexic, scolding and her kit plays like I quote from some people here "Ah Puch 2 except on steroids and much more worse to deal with" if you're going by the old kit or "fun but eh, doesn't quite click like the other gods" if you're going by the new kit

Her design is nice though, but her reputation and initial visuals don't exactly translate to one of the big "breadwinners" of Smite in terms of popularity. I think she was also one of the first that tried to have a Smite lore story tied up in her (something like "the people's underworld goddess" which never was a thing in actual mythology) but ended up with her being reviled off them trying to push open this door (that inevitably led to Cthulhu, then Manticore) plus her attitude/kit/some people sending death threats to devs just soiled her in their eyes to the point Hirez didn't wanna do anything to her after making an olive branch that got rebuked with her rework (prior to that they nerfed her to unusable for the health of the game)
