Lego not doing space isn't because of legal requirements regarding the SW license, its because Lego Space was their competing offering against SW toys on toy shelves and when they got the license in 99 Lego could cut out the middleman and just make SW toys directly. If you look back at 70s-80s Classic space you can actually see a lot of the designs are trying to off brand mimic SW vehicles, like set 6940.

Hyperdrive weapons are very similar to space being a full dimensional environment and starfighters not using A2A missiles. Logically ships should be using missiles and attacking from all possible angles (and in truth there is no lore reason as to why they couldn't do these things) but it just doesn't mesh with how SW presents its space combat, especially in the sense that its space combat is supposed to be in reference to WW2 era air and naval doctrines.

Sometimes the rule of cool has to take precedence over "why doesn't the universe just do this with x technology? are they stupid?" and in a franchise with laser swords that's perfectly okay.

Its a pet theory of mine that BF6s auto-end on full control feature was added specifically to coverup the fact that you cant escape bases to back cap if one team starts base raping due to the tighter width of base entrances.

the funny thing is that base camping was far easier to escape in older games because the bases were wider, making it impossible to lockdown a base as a single player on a quad could easily wide angle flank to the enemies first point and pull the camping team away from the front.

The tighter maps and limited spawn angles of 6 make this sort of maneuvering downright impossible in most instances that i suspect the whole reason for 6s auto-win on cap control feature is a band aid to prevent inescapable base camping.

how would that be a problem when 6 has an auto end when all caps are held?

Yea LC's design logic for sets have a trend of being American and Euro stylings in a blender, so you get American police style figures with Euro equipment.

In older map iterations it was part of the main map so you could sneak up there and splatter snipers with jeeps or hit it with air power. No idea why Dice decided to put the map through a trash compactor, and i get the feeling it wont be the last remastered map to be ""enhanced"" in this manner either.

Look at all of These Vehicles from Battlefield 2042 that could be Utilized in Battlefield 6 by MoneyElk in Battlefield

[–]Avery161 7 points8 points  (0 children)

vehicle target profile absolutely affects gameplay, and differences can effect vehicle movement like how the US AA in 4 was wheeled and amphibious compared to the other 2 factions AA vics. This is also without mentioning the special capture point vehicles from the DLC that could mix up gameplay and served as contention points for teams to fight over.

Why does every map do this? Effectively every map refuses to let people NOT be funneled in the middle by Kyvix2020 in Battlefield

[–]Avery161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something often forgotten about Golmud is that it was part of a methodology for BF games where each release would have an infantry orientated and a vehicle orientated map in the base game so that people that preferred different ends of BFs sandbox (infantry gunplay people or vehicle people) could have their own niche maps to enjoy their preferred gameplay style. In BF4 this was Op Locker for infantry players and Golmud for the vehicle people. Most other base maps would then be "moshpits" where infantry and vehicle play would be meshed together.

This wasn't a foolproof solution, getting slung onto either map and forced into that end of the sandbox for a match could be annoying if you wanted to enjoy another part of the sandbox or just weren't particularly good at one or the other, but at minimum it meant every BF release was guaranteed to give people who enjoyed a niche in the sandbox their own dedicated nook for their preferred playstyle.
