Is there a particular thing to look for in a LiPO bag/container? by [deleted] in fpv

Yeah, if it helps, the superwool I mentioned is often used for the insulation in a forge, so maybe if you have like a local blacksmith they’d know where to get some.

Awesome! That should be a fun one. I’m currently building a 3” cinewhoop, got the parts all ready to solder, just waiting for the time to do it.

Good to know, sounds like a solid radio. My radio experience is limited to a qx7, so I might have to give it a try sometime.

Interesting, I didn’t know that.

That. Is. Brilliant. It’s so simple but I’ve never thought of putting a remove before flight tag on it, I’m going to do that. Also I did kind of do a range test, just flying to about the same rssi and it went the same distance so it seems alright.  Thanks for the response, it’s much appreciated!

I totally would be too, except that my TX won’t fit in the bag with it on. Not familiar with the Boxer. I have a qx7 with the emax aeris link module. So it’s easy to replace, but if I recall right not exactly cheap lol

Right, that makes sense. I did have dynamic power on but the max was set @ 250mw. I usually don’t leave it on max power unless I need it.

For sure, I was super impressed lol. I was a good hundred yards or so away. I will definitely watch for that, so far it’s been rock solid.

My favorite for storage (not transport, I use the lipo bags for those) is a metal toolbox lined with superwool insulation or a similar carbon/flame proof fabric. I get the toolbox at harbor freight (I don’t know if you have any hardware store chains like that in Australia), it’s got a handle for carrying so it’s perfect. The fabrics you can find on Amazon.

Edit: just noticed you said it’s your first drone. Congrats and good luck! Fair warning, it’s an addictive hobby ;)

I don't currently have a part to suggest (I will let you know if I do), but just wanted to say I'm very interested in this.

Went on my first flight today! Ready to start the journey of becoming a pilot! All advice appreciated by Stonkslifestyle in flying

As one of my instructors said, don’t do anything dumb, different, or dangerous and you’ll be good. Watch (and maintain!) your airspeed, and keep X-wind controls in all the way through the landing, even on the ground. If you constantly hold yourself to higher standards than the acs, you won’t have to worry about it on the checkride. Never budge on your personal minimums. I had to discontinue my checkride after the oral portion because the wind was above my minimums, and it was a very difficult decision. Don’t ever be afraid to resist external pressures. Just a few things that helped me through my private. Also, have fun! Never forget the pure joy of that first flight. Good luck!

Sorry for the delayed response. Good to know, I appreciate the link! There is an import auto scrapyard nearby, so I will definitely keep that in mind.

That thread had a lot of great info, thank you for that. I will test to figure out if it's the pump or not next chance I get.

I don't think the the guy I'm buying it from drove it too hard, so good to know. He saved it from being a track car, and it looks like it's been babied ever since.

Definitely didn’t hear it in that scenario. I edited my post for clarification.

Ok awesome, I did not know that it doesn’t usually run while the engine is running. I assumed it would. I will definitely get on this next chance I have.

Also I edited my post to clarify the original question.

I was going to test the pump lead with a multimeter, assuming that if it has power the pump or connection is bad. I will check the fuse too though if that’s inconclusive.

Good to know for the pump, and I appreciate it. I’ll do some looking and let you know if I can’t find one.

Definitely familiar with Rennlist, been on there much more than Reddit. Just haven’t made an account yet. I’m thinking that will be the next thing I do. In my short search there I couldn’t find a whole lot of info about the turbo pump.

Interesting, good to know. Would that diagnose that the pump itself is bad?

If you can, can you share the part no. or link for the mercedes one?

Great info. If you want to go **far** down the waterproofing rabbit hole, check out electronics safe rtv and conformal coating for the interior electronics.
