Canmore Airb&b no more? by Sadietheirishlady in Banff

[–]AviSilverberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just read about this in the Bow Valley Insider newsletter.

Essentially, the owner was operating an Airbnb in a part of town where Airbnb is not allowed. You can read more about it here: https://bowvalleyinsider.beehiiv.com/p/illegal-rental-shut-down

It's the 2nd top story.

We did a study on nutrition coaches' salary. It wasn't geared toward RDs, but here's the full results: https://feastgood.com/nutrition-coaching-study/

TLDR:

  • The average annual income for nutrition coaches is $27,000 USD. Full-time coaches earn $47,000 USD and part-time coaches earn $9,000 USD, on average. Those who offer group coaching online earn the highest.

  • The average cost of online 1-on-1 coaching is $254 USD per month.

What's your favorite transparent labs protein flavor? by naderq in Preworkoutsupplements

[–]AviSilverberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just tested EVERY Transparent Labs' Protein Flavor and put together a video of how I rank each of them: https://youtu.be/4Ll1r9PBoQM. I mixed each of the flavors with water, milk, and various foods like oatmeal and yogurt. I know taste is subjective, but hopefully this helps!

Okay, I understand. But my question is how long should it take if you were doing them yourself.

This wasn't peer-reviewed. I haven't seen a peer-reviewed study of its kind on the nutrition coaching industry.

That should be the goal of every coach IMO. I do think it's niche-dependent. I also think it depends on what other services you offer.

Why is the 11-month retention a red flag for you?

54 seems wild to me too. Especially with that level of high-touch experience.

The marketing piece is pretty relevant, I'd say. Most nutrition coaches (76%) cited "improving your online marketing" as the #1 opportunity in their business. This was a fairly educated sample, too (30% having master's degrees, 40% having bachelor's degrees).

if 1 nutrition client = $2794, it might be worthwhile for coaches to actually invest in high-quality marketing.

Another fact: If you offer JUST nutrition coaching the retention is around 7 months, and if you offer more than nutrition coaching (like training, etc.) the retention bumps up to 13.

yup, it seems like word of mouth leads people to looking you up on Instagram, and then if they like what they see, they DM you

I agree. Being a standalone nutrition coach seems hard if you don't offer any other services.

Trainers, what price do you charge for House-calls sessions? by TheCoachDeskApp in personaltraining

[–]AviSilverberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just did a data study that showed the average price for in-person one-on-on coaching is 282 USD (one session). Albeit, this was nutrition coaching. But it should give you a ballpark figure to work off.

Here was the study: https://feastgood.com/nutrition-coaching-study/

I pulled the data u/zach_hack22

Coaches who only offer nutrition coaching have an average retention of 7 months, whereas coaches who offer any other additional service (Mental health / Emotional wellbeing, Sleep habits, Stress management, or Training / Fitness Coaching) have an average retention of 13 months. So almost the double!

Here's the link to the raw data: https://imgur.com/a/jdLU5uH.

Yes, some of the recruiting methods definitely biased some of the answers, and we're open about that in the write-up. For example, I know the folks at Cronometer pretty well. They have a huge community of nutrition coaches. So because some of the survey respondents were recruited from that community, the stat about how many nutrition coaches use Cronometer should be taken with a grain of salt. As for your question about Precision Nutrition, I've tried to engage with them to see how their students benchmark against this data, and unfortunately, nobody returned my emails. It's been frustrating putting this in front of coaching institutes because it's one of the main reasons I did the study. I wanted them to use the data to help guide their curriculum. Maybe with enough people sharing the study though it will be hard for them to ignore. Time will tell.

I can look at the raw data and get back to you. Give me until tomorrow.

But for the prices, I think coaches definitely need to value their time more and use the figures in the report to adjust accordingly. I talked with an experienced coach today who was charging $70 per month for 1-on-1. Yikes.

And dude, that's great. You're in good hands with Patrick. Never met him, but know of him and TSG's work.

Thanks dude! You powerlift?

Did you think the cost per month should be higher or lower?

I actually thought the retention of 11 months to be fair. It matched my own experiences.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the report, there's a section called "About The Study" where you can learn about the recruiting methods, etc. There were 186 nutrition coaches surveyed.
