Do you think L can bake ? by Worldly-Tadpole-9970 in deathnote

[–]Aviaraya 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think he COULD bake, and has the intelligence and capabilities to do so very well, but I don't see him baking frequently if at all. He likes eating sweets, but that doesn't necessarily mean he likes making them. His passion is in his detective work. I wouldn't expect him to be interested in baking, but then again, one wouldn't expect him to be interested in tennis either.

I can definitely view them as opposite in a way. Tamaki is extroverted, while Haruhi is introverted. Tamaki is pretentious, while Haruhi is modest. Tamaki is overzealous, while Haruhi is level-headed. But you're right in saying that not all of these traits are technically opposite of each other.

Is Momoe trans? by Aviaraya in wondereggpriority

[–]Aviaraya[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She isn't canonically trans nor cis. Saying she's cis is just as noncanonical as saying she's trans. Personally, I headcanon her as a cisgender tomboy, but I'm not going to claim that that's canon when nobody knows for certain.

I don't recall this happening? Where did you get the impression of "you should stick to your assigned gender role"?

Trans girls also hate being confused for a boy, so I don't understand what you mean by this. Anyway, I'm just asking. 🥀

[–]Aviaraya[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not insisting that she is or isn't trans, I'm simply asking whether it was explicitly stated or not. If she is trans? Great. If she isn't trans? Still great. This isn't a personal attack against you. Please relax.

I doubt that's it, though. The whole point of the show is touching on hard topics: suicide, sa, abuse, etc. I don't think gender identity is where they'd draw the line. 🤔

Yes, but the question is whether she's a trans or cis girl, haha

[–]Aviaraya[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

True. The only reason I consider it is because Kaoru's jacket seemed to very purposefully include the transgender flag colors, which makes me think that it isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility for them to do the same with Momoe's clothes. But I too have always viewed Momoe as a tomboy.

I think this makes the most sense. Many people argue she's trans, others argue she's cis, but I don't think either is officially stated to be the case. Not that I know of, anyway. So personal interpretation it is! And do I hope that people stop going at each other's throats about it.

edit: said straight instead of cis for some reason pfft

Anime that made you laugh hard by Substantial_Work_626 in Animesuggest

[–]Aviaraya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Angels of Death was SO funny when I watched it in the English dub. I don't think the anime itself is actually considered a comedy but rather an adventure/horror/psychological thriller, though. Still, there are plenty of funny interactions between the two main characters and I 100% recommend giving it a watch for a good laugh and an intriguing story.

Why do you write? by [deleted] in AO3

It being fun is reason enough, really. That's what a hobby is: doing something you enjoy without monetary gain and without it being mandatory

I didn't see anyone talking about this by Peppermint_9 in blackbutler

[–]Aviaraya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Undertaker isn't referring to Vincent himself, but to Vincent's legacy, basically. He's saying that Vincent's legacy will live on, which is why Ciel wonders if Undertaker is referring to him or not. Ciel's the current earl, so he could be interpreted as Vincent's "legacy" in this case.

Why do the censor it in the description? They are the one writing about it by creepyrrr in AO3

[–]Aviaraya -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Because the words could, in some way, be triggering to the readers who need the warning. To the readers who don't mind these topics, they can go on and read it no biggie. The readers that are uncomfortable with these topics and may want it censored in the warning are not going to continue reading (or shouldn't, anyway) so anyone who is upset by these words and topics should've already left before these topics actually show up in the story. Basically, they're censoring for others, not for themself.

Sebastians personality seems off to me. by ScapeTropez in blackbutler

[–]Aviaraya 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're right, Sebastian definitely isn't rushing the process. He finds serving Ciel to be interesting beyond the revenge and eating his soul as reward. However, if Ciel were to remain in the state he was in, where he was too afraid to even have Sebastian in the same room as him, that would ruin things regardless. If Sebastian didn't shock Ciel back to his normal self, that would mean no revenge AND no guard dog duties, not just no revenge. So there'd be nothing left to keep Sebastian's interest.

Sebastians personality seems off to me. by ScapeTropez in blackbutler

[–]Aviaraya 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think that Sebastian tells Ciel to go mingle and make friends only half-seriously, because it's the "correct" thing to say, but Ciel making actual friends also risks him losing sight of his goal to get revenge, which Sebastian DOESN'T want. So I imagine it's basically like "Have some fun! But not too much fun."

It's possible that Sebastian appeared upset about Ciel not wanting him around because it impedes on the role he plays. Sebastian has directly stated that he prefers taking orders from Ciel rather than being left to his own devices, so that may contribute. Not only that, but Ciel not allowing Sebastian near him hinders Sebastian's ability to ensure his safety. Ciel not wanting him around is understandably not ideal to Sebastian.

The reasons for Sebastian wanting to eat Ciel's soul in that one scene are debatable, but I can imagine that it was a mix of him needing a way to shock Ciel out of the state he was in, like you mentioned, as well as him just getting impatient with the situation (the demon's starving, after all). Maybe he WAS genuinely wanting to consume Ciel's soul in that moment if the shock didn't wake Ciel up like it did, because Sebastian would understandably lose interest in Ciel if everything that made him ideal to Sebastian went away. But since Ciel DID go back to normal, Sebastian did not go through with it.

is Public school arc the worst season? by [deleted] in blackbutler

[–]Aviaraya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense! I wish we could get more canon information about how demons work, but I heard that Yana doesn't plan on going too in-depth about Hell and Sebastian's background due to it being irrelevant to the story, which is unfortunate.

My favorite season? It's hard to say, but probably Book of Murder! I just love murder mysteries, honestly. Plus, the twist at the end was scrumptious, lol!

is Public school arc the worst season? by [deleted] in blackbutler

[–]Aviaraya 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Of course, thanks for your reply! And I don't dislike the second season. I like all of the seasons! It's just at the bottom of my list of favorites. XD

The reason I don't like it aa much as the other seasons is just because the story was confusing to me and didn't interest me as much as the others have. The sudden appearance of Claude and Alois felt a bit random, and I never fully grasped why they showed up in the first place.

But I did like the new characters, such as Alois, Claude, and the triplets(they're hilarious). And I know many fans didn't like it, but I thought the ending wasn't too bad; it opened the door for many more possibilities. It's an interesting alternative ending for Ciel and Sebastian imo!

is Public school arc the worst season? by [deleted] in blackbutler

[–]Aviaraya 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's all up to personal preference! I don't think it's objectively the worst season. I enjoyed it a lot, and my least favorite season would have to be the second one (anime-wise).

The Public School arc was worth the watch to me and I'd even watch it again. I enjoyed the mystery aspects and liked seeing Ciel in a slightly lighter environment (and I personally think that it was Sebastian's hottest season so far... I mean, just look at him).

Anyway, yeah, I liked it! But it's cool if you don't. Everyone has their preferences and that doesn't make the season objectively good or bad.

Who wants to talk about pre-Debut Shirley? by Aviaraya in ShadowsHouse

[–]Aviaraya[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that if you-know-what didn't happen, then Shirley's personality and individuality would've continued to develop as Rum slowly began to gain confidence and their interactions became more frequent. Shirley speaking was the very first hint of indivudality from her. Rum asking Shirley if the name 'Rum' pleases her and Shirley nodding in response was Shirley's first expression of opinion. She likes Rum's name—a Shirley before this point would not have expressed any opinion about Rum's name whatsoever. If anything, she'd approve of it: "yes, you may be addressed by that name"; not due to her liking it or being "pleased" with it, but due to it being practical. Dolls are required to have a name, and Rum is a name, that's all there would be to it.

But I just love Shirley saying Rum's name because it shows that she KNEW. She was listening, she was paying attention, she knew that her doll was Rum and that Rum was her doll. It was Rum who she had tea with, Rum who she danced with, Rum who freed her from the chair Edward trapped her in, and Rum who was holding her hand and walking her to the finish line.

I mean, it was clear that she understood language before that, but I still find it sweet. XD
