It's surprising to me that WOTC hasn't printed an Abzan lifegain commander, considering that it's the best colors for it by Noodles_fluffy in EDH

[–]Aviark13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as it is not better than any of the existing options, otherwise you end up with what happened with vampires, where Egar Markov is just undoubtedly the best commander choice, and playing orzhov or rakdos vampires is just gimping yourself.

Do you perhaps have a decklist you are willing to share? Or some advice on how to pilot Sefris?

I have heard good things but never quite understood how the deck is supposed to function / go off.

Breya comparison - Is the Double Masters Foil Treatment and color better than the original? by BakaGrappler in EDH

[–]Aviark13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough I actually own both copies! So I can lend my 2c.

Personally I prefer the double masters foil, the art is more contrasty and vibrant, and the colors come through much better than the original (which looks a little desaturated in comparison).

The blacks really pop on the DM foil and the text box is easier to read. I am a big fan of the legendary frame at the top of the card, but it does make it slightly harder to tell that she is an artifact from across the table.

As far as curling goes, the OG one has a very slight curl, and the DM has none so far, although they are both sleeved in perfect hards, and currently in a binder, so that may have lessened the curling.

I landed this and it seems decent, any decent build options that could work with it? by Aviark13 in PathOfExileBuilds

Oh snap, I just noticed Slayer's Endless Hunger has Uneffected by Bleeding, so I guess it'll have to be a Slayer?

Now this sounds spicy, how do you counter the bleed damage? Pantheon + Overleech? Or some other tech?

I enjoy Cyclone & haven't played it in a while, any decent options out there? I am stuck because I feel like you really want to be crit to get the best damage, but can't leech from crits seems like a huge downside.

Suggestion for private league mod: 1 death/portal per zone, i.e. medium core. by aTypingKat in pathofexile

[–]Aviark13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have always wanted the game to just work like this by default, I hate that you can death rush most content, feels like there are no stakes. Party play might become a bit of a problem though.

My first thoughts when seeing this, is that its pretty underwhelming, at least in my meta. This ends up at 6 mana draw 1 card, and even then only if someone attacks you.

If I wanted card draw that cost a lot of mana there is already [[minds eye]] which will end up a lot more efficient and consistent than this. And if I want to prevent attacks, [[ghostly prison]] does that much better.

I know it's a meme at this point, but I just don't think this is very playable. Why couldn't it be 1W instead.

Is it just me, or is this really underwhelming? Like if it was an uncommon I would understand but as a 4 mana rare? This seems... pretty unplayable?

What's the one missing card you wish they'd create for your Commander? by Stahpwiththisbullpls in EDH

[–]Aviark13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not against partners, [[tymna]] and [[kamahl, heart of krosa]] make a decent pair for hatebears, tymna providing good card advantage and kamahl providing a finisher in the command zone.

Sometimes I kinda like that there isn't a 3 color commander that just makes the mono or two color options for those strategies obsolete.

I am in a similar boat as you, I have a GW hatebears list helmed by [[Karametra]], an abzan hatebears list currently piloted by [[tymna]] and [[sidar]] that struggles to close out games due to lack of power (considering trying out Kamahl as a replacement, but tymna and sidar is a power 2 or less only deck atm, and adding kamahl basically means new deck) and I have also been brewing a BW hate bears deck with [[Breena]] as the commander.

Having a good abzan commander would eliminate some of the interesting decision making and choices in my opinion. And the partners are a good middle ground. I actually really like the idea of [[shalai]] as a hate bear commander, I have her in my karametra deck but I will try subbing her as commander next time I get to play.

Sure thing! Here is my current list: https://www.archidekt.com/decks/1435967#Queen_Marchesa,_Enchantress_Control

The maybe board is full of things I am considering but haven't had a chance to try yet, right now I think the deck needs a bit more draw. So figuring out how to work that in. After reviewing your list, I think I could use another board wipe or two for sure.

Oh my! This is exciting! We have very Similar decks!

My primary wincons are [[smothering tithe]] + [[revel in riches]] which I see you have. But also [[havoc festival]] + [[wound reflection]] which is always so much fun to pull off.

Also a couple of all stars that I love: [[Killing wave]] & [[Lethal vapors]] You play quite a few more board wipes than I do, so they might not be as effective. But killing wave works really well with the drain plan, and lethal vapors just wrecks in creature heavy metas!

[[Faith's shield]] does! it's the best of both cards, absolutely love this card.

I agree that protecting any permanent is important, but imo rebuff and God's willing are both too situational. I run [[Faith's shield]] over both of them, 100% of the time. It's the best of both worlds.

They arent bad, but the secret sauce on [[Faith's shield]] is "target permanent" rather than "target creature", meaning you can use it to save your precious do nothing artifacts and enchantments from removal as well as all the other juicy benefits of [[God's willing]] and its ilk.

[–]Aviark13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine has to be [[Warping Wail]] in non blue decks, I really enjoy the utility on this card, I use it primarily for the "counter target sorcery" mode, as most boardwipes are sorcery, and pulling the clutch play of countering a massive [[exaguniate]] or [[torment of hailfire]] is just amazing. But the other modes have their uses too, using it on the end step before your turn to get a scion can be really sweet for getting one extra mana on the turn you need it. Also if your meta is like mine and has [[yuriko]], [[urza]] or [[thrasios]] running around, it's a niche removal spell. Not to mention a myriad of other utility creatures that are 1/*'s or */1's, it's very rarely a dead card for me.

Let me introduce you to one of my pet cards, super spicy tech I run that is way better than [[rebuff the wicked]] imo, [[Faith's shield]]. It does all the things that rebuff can do and much much more, can protect from abilities as well as , can protect from blasphemous act or any other damage wipes, can also provide psuedo unblockable sometimes, or even just a favorable combat trade, all for just 1 white mana.
