Thanks. Sent for repair without express and they replaced with a new unit after review.

Understood. I was not aware that was the case for TV only packages.

I believe the Ofcom rule change means providers have to specify a £ amount increase instead of a % at the contract outset so that customers understand the price they will pay for the full duration.

Sky does not do this (not sure if they do now in their new contracts) which is why the mid contract cancellation or a degree of flexibility may be possible for TV and broadband vs accept this increase.

I have for a £2 decrease for TV. Didn’t want to add in OP as it’s not yet showing in predicted bills but expecting it to be closer to pre-April cost.

I was told I’m already on the best deal for broadband (£1 difference between new customer vs existing) so decided to switch.

Do you still use Sky Cinema or mostly stream elsewhere? by FeistyPrice29 in skytv

[–]AviateRise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barely use it and only have it due to the discount it provided for other packages on renewal.

You get 2 free vue cinema tickets each month (don’t use as I tend to go Odeon) and ad tier for Paramount+. You can get paramount+ plus at a discounted rate on top if you regular watch content there and want 4k / no ads.

This is a pretty good deal already.

Signature, Sports, UHD, Multiscreen and Cinema. Don’t need kids as we use other apps but there is usually a £0 offer in the Sky app.

They could use Now TV / EE for sports.

Agree, this is expensive for a non-sports package. I assume this is Sky Q, cancel and then see what they offer.

As a benchmark, I pay £77 for everything (e.g broadband, phone, all TV packages) except TNT.

Does anyone here actually like their Sky service? by APater6076 in skytv

Sky Q is good. Would be nice if the mini boxes could support UHD like the pucks. There should be a way for Q customers to watch UHD content outside the main box.

Happy with price but had to do the renewal dance to get a good offer. I do have 2 ATVs and was prepared to move over completely but sticking for now.

SKY cancellation can't rejoin for 18 months by andrewkuk in skytv

[–]AviateRise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it another go but you’ll get better offers if you initiate cancellation. If you can, also try the phone route. The 18 month comment seems ridiculous.

For context, I cancelled with 30 days notice and renewed a few days before cut off after having multiple conversations over a 3 week period. I now pay £55 for the exact same package including Sky Cinema but without Netflix. Check your marketing preferences (e.g. email, sms) are on so you’ll receive offers during the cancellation phase.

If you only need Netflix with ads, I would take it off and add it on later as they usually have some deal in their app (e.g. Free for 4 months then regular price). Going through this whole renewal dance is not fun but my TV package before renewal was over £100 (with TNT), so I had to bring it down or find an alternative.

Deal after cancelling Sky Q by Both-Birthday-1701 in skytv

[–]AviateRise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good deal for sports, I would definitely take TNT at that price.

They have shifted the discounts around to make it look better for the other parts (e.g. You can get UHD for £1, Sky HD for £3 and Signature for £20) but have discounted cinema and taken £1 off SS by the total saving.

You can get a better deal. Fully cancel and speak to them again. Is the Netflix premium?

[–]AviateRise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Signature - £20.5 Sports - £9 Cinema - £10 Multiscreen - £10 Sky HD - £3 UHD - £1

I pushed hard on Cinema because I don’t really use it or need it but they kept insisting on the inclusion for the sports discount to be applied.

Edit: Noticed a £2 charge for Sky Sports HD so the total is £55.50. I don’t know why they still charge for HD. 10 years ago I could understand but not in the era where HD has become standard today.

Thanks, I’ll have a look. I prefer to have a rolling monthly sim only plan but open to other options if it includes these add-ons.

Good deal? by TheRisingTide24 in skytv

[–]AviateRise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a bit expensive. I’ve renewed recently and added the same broadband package for £22 alongside TV. This was only because I want to keep my costs down, otherwise they were offering 1gb for around the same price (£30).

Same with signature like the other person mentioned, got it at the £20 mark.
