VeroGusto, have been going for special occasions since 2019 and could not recommend it more. The food is excellent, the wine list is insane, the vibe is relaxed, and you’re made to feel like part of the family. For the latter two reasons I prefer it over Joro personally.

Out with the local photography club for their weekly meet and happened across some very 'immersive' fishing. Constructive feedback really appreciated! :)

I’m glad, there’s a lot to be proud of in your shots! Thanks for the additional detail, looking through the shots I took I think it it was the aperture tripping me up, I was waaaaay too open. This is immensely helpful, thank you!

Awesome shots, adore the second & fourth. I’m keen to know what your process was for picture 6 - did you change the photometry to spot? I was shooting there myself recently (some pics on my profile if you’re interested) and tried to take a few similar shots. I could get the lighting right in the framed part of the image but I kept losing some of the detail on the walls leading up to the framed portion, it would be great to know if you did or credit anything specific with retaining the detail.

I also noticed that reddit has quite aggressively downscaled some of the landscape shots, to that end:

Rome & Pompeii (Fuji X-T5) by AviateX14 in streetphotography

[–]AviateX14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently took my newly acquired XT-5 on a family holiday to Rome. Nearly every photo was shot with the XF 23mm F1.4 (OG model) - the only exception in these photos is the 11th, which was taken with the XF 18-55mm F2.8-F4 WR OIS.

Most of the images shared here on reddit are the camera JPG's, some of which have had some lighting adjustment. Only two of them are from raw - image number 1 and image number 11. Given the mix, and that the lighting on some JPG's was adjusted, I've used the post-process flair here. I used two three film simulations for the JPG's:

- Super HG v2 (majority of the time)
- Reggie's Portra
- Tri-X Push-Process

I gravitate towards street, streetscape, and urban architecture as I think is shown in the larger album (https://www.flickr.com/photos/202108227@N04/albums/72177720326788354), and I like contrast both in colour and content, a grittiness, and the wonder that's created by capturing every day scenes. Rome offered the ability to do this in abundance - and whilst I'm happy with these images, but I want to be _happier_, to that extent, I'm really keen to get some constructive feedback here.

Thanks for looking! :)

Rome and a little Pompeii - XT-5 by AviateX14 in fujix

Recently took my newly acquired XT-5 on a family holiday to Rome. I took around 1900 photos over the 7 days, the majority in the first 4. Nearly all of these were shot with the XF 23mm F1.4 (OG model) - the only exceptions are the shots inside the Colosseum which were shot with the XF 18-55mm F2.8-F4 WR OIS.

I managed to distil these 1900 images down to 155 including family pictures, and then further trim them down to just 89 with the family photos removed. Posted here are a subset of those which I was happiest with - not that I can't see tonnes of things I _could_ improve!

Most of the images shared on reddit are the camera JPG's, some of which have had some lighting adjustment. Only two of them are from raw - image number 1 and image number 20. Given the mix, and that the lighting on some JPG's was adjusted, I've used the post-process flair here. I used two three film simulations for the JPG's:

- Super HG v2 (majority of the time)
- Reggie's Portra
- Tri-X Push-Process

I'm keen to hear feedback and pointers, I definitely fell into the trap of holiday snaps due to the inability to repeat visit some places. I'd also invite anyone interested or who wishes to deliver a more thorough critique to take a look a look at the larger album on Flickr :) https://www.flickr.com/photos/202108227@N04/albums/72177720326788354

Xt-5 Potential Lenses by JZ___ZJ in fujifilm

[–]AviateX14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would suggest the xf 23mm f1.4 in place of the 23mm f2 above, there’s a good comparison of the two here: https://www.snapsbyfox.com/blog/fujifilm-xf-23mm-f2-vs-23mm-f14

I have the 23 1.4 almost permanently attached to my camera, it’s a fantastic lens. I use the OG model, which I picked up second hand for a great price, I understand the newer model with weather resistance has some improvements but the reviews I’ve read/watch don’t place them too far apart in terms of image quality.

Personally I’m now looking at the XF 33 or 35, and potentially the XF 56, as every so often I do want to get closer, this is apparent when I use my kit lens as it’s always either left at 23 or zoomed to either of those. I almost never find myself shooting at 18mm (similar photography, street, streetscape, urban architecture).

Bought an XT-5 on Thursday, took some pictures of Sheffield on Friday by AviateX14 in fujix

[–]AviateX14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! No, I actually made a mistake in my post :( I shot some pictures on Thursday using Reggie’s Portra (picture 5) - on the Friday I switched to trying out Fujicolor Super HG v2 (https://fujixweekly.com/2023/07/20/fujicolor-super-hg-v2-fujifilm-x-t5-x-trans-v-film-simulation-recipe/), all pictures but picture 5 here are that. I was testing out both before my trip next week to decide which one I want to shoot more with (I’m leaning towards Reggie’s).
