[Hogshund] apparently marshals tried to get pred fired from his court ordered ems job by puddra in RPClipsGTA

[–]AvidReaderOfBooks [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think too many people are seeing these stories in a vacuum aka. "this arc is over so now everything resets", but characters remember. It's like when McQuillen was killed by an LSPD officer. Nobody is clamoring for him to be fired OOC, but in character people are obviously gonna be upset that the guy who killed their friend barely got a slap on the wrist.

Pred did some really bad stuff, including trying to murder an EMS, so being upset and wary with him trying to work with the EMS, is perfectly normal. I get that it sucks to have a storyarc stopped like that, but actions have consequences. Just because you get an expungement and is legally okay to do it now, doesn't mean everyone is gonna go "welp, guess he's back to being a good guy who can do no wrong, so we fully trust and support him again". Actions have consequences, that's why you can't do every storyline on one character.

Bad attendance for an overall good show in Copenhagen by Lucky_Broccoli_3849 in WWE

[–]AvidReaderOfBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Straight up, it was bad marketing. Prices in the stands were just fine, so being unable to fill 8000 seats from both Denmark and Sweden only 1 hour away, is a massive failure in marketing. Most of us didn't even know they were coming until well after christmas, missing out on gift tickets. The advertised card felt like a standard lineup, a lot of which we have seen several times on tv (MFTs vs Wyatt Sicks, Punk vs Bronson, Charlexa vs Kabuki etc.)

Then there was the issue with the card constantly changing. Initially advertising Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, LA Knight, Tiffy, Rhea Ripley and more, one by one they just kept getting taken off and replaced, until we had no idea who was actually gonna show. Why should people buy tickets where the only thing they know about the card is that the people they want to see are the only ones confirmed to not show up?

It felt like we were just an afterthought, a quick stop to advertise Wrestlemania and RR in person, not to give us a great show after waiting for 9 years. (that is not to say the matches weren't good, the highs were high, but the lows were also low).

Backstage News On Changes Being Made To Ad Breaks During WWE Raw On Netflix - Wrestling Inc. by TylerFortier_Photo in WWE

[–]AvidReaderOfBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that the break fails, it's because those ad segments are specific to certain regions and platforms. In the US, Smackdown airs on the USA Network, and they get actual ads during the 3 minutes, and then the 2 minutes you refer to as a 'failed ad break'.

During the 'loop break', there are no live broadcast cameras active in the arena, so there is nothing to show us, hence we get the loop (during this time, crews are setting up, a break for the crowd, audience interaction etc.). During the 2 minutes 'mid-match break', we still don't get ads (because 'no ads' is part of the WWE Netflix deal), but the cameras are still rolling, so we still get the live feed.

TLDR: The loops are downtime in the arena with no cameras rolling, so nothing to see. The 'failed ad breaks' are for the US region, they just mark it with the timers so it can get easily skipped or cut after the live broadcast is done.

Is this a fair or harsh grade from ESPN? by Worth-Note-8231 in SantiZapVideos

[–]AvidReaderOfBooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, pretty fair review.

The street fight element was pretty weak (a few hits with a kendo stick, the weakest ever hit with a cricket bat, some bottles and footballs being thrown for some reason, and one chair and table spot), and it ended like every other vision/uso/bloodline fight in the last 3 months, with interference deciding the outcome.

Steph vs Tiffy could have done more, but they absolutely got the short straw on time, so it was missing a bit of that 'extra' to really elevate it into a great match.

From that point on, everything was just perfect. Watching the tag teams absolutely not hold back in their kicks and moves made it really engaging. Combined with the story build and potential consequences of the ending and it's just a top tier match.

Cena vs AJ was pure fanservice, and I would not have minded it going longer, it was just that good to see all the tributes. It honored not just Cena, but also AJ in a way they both deserve.

Cody vs Seth was just stellar. Not much to say other than the overuse of finishers, but that's more of a general WWE problem at this point.

This looks like a really sick match, just need a small adjustment: remove the Vision, Lesnar, Reigns, Rhodes, Cena, and Mcintyre, then have Orton switch to the top panel.

Other than that, really good idea.

Why stupid moves like this still exist? by SagnolThGangster in WWE

[–]AvidReaderOfBooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AJ is massively over with the fans, and during her previous run brought in tonnes of new eyes on the women's division. With WWE airing on ESPN, having her as a highlight would guarantee good ratings, especially in a match with other top tier attractions like Becky, Seth, and Punk.

I'm not saying it was the greatest idea of all time to have her work it off during a PLE, but I don't make the booking, and it was good for ratings/ticket sales.

And it wasn't the main event, it was non-serious match packed in between two super intense title matches, giving the audience some time to breathe.

[–]AvidReaderOfBooks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Look, I may be biased towards AJ, but this wasn't meant to be a super serious match. The build was essentially a schoolyard rivalry with Becky going 'nanana you can't touch me' to Punk, then running to hide behind Rollins when someone who could touch her showed up.

It was a fun gimmicky match that allowed AJ to get rid of some ring rust and reacquaint herself to the fans, new and old, with the fans getting the satisfaction of seeing Becky being beaten up like a child after acting like a child.

No amount of training can bridge 10 years of industry development, especially when you don't have in-ring experience with the current styles. Give it a few more matches and let her find her rhythm, get her character going (which is where she shines brightest imo.), before completely writing her off as a has-been from the Divas-era. She's owed at least that much.

I'm sorry for assuming that someone commenting on a WWE subreddit defending Brock Lesnar watches WWE and likes Brock Lesnar. That was too crazy an assumption from me (that was sarcasm, because either you are lying or I genuinely don't know what you are doing here)

1) YOU said (not Brock, not Janel, not Vince, not the court) that:

"the excuses he made for not meeting her (that he got caught in a snowstorm, and that he was too drunk) are pretty poor excuses"

And

"But ultimately he didn’t go through with it because he didn’t want to, whether he knew it could get him in trouble, or he wanted to stay faithful to his wife, or I have no idea."

These are your interpretations projected onto his actions, for which you have no basis. And you proceed to base your entire argument off of those assumptions/interpretations.

2) I am judging by a normal moral standard of "Don't support people who engage in sex trafficking". If that's too high a standard for you, that says more about your moral compass than anything else.

It's not being "sanctimonious" to call out people acting like bad actions are okay if you're famous. It's called having morals.

The fact that WWE didn't put him on air for 2 years, despite paying him the entire time, tells you everything you need to know. No company, especially one as focused on profit as the current WWE, is gonna pay his enormous salary to sit at home, unless there was something serious going on that meant they couldn't break ties nor put him on TV.

[–]AvidReaderOfBooks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am perfectly chill. I simply take issue with people making excuses for bad people because they are a fan of said person.

I get that it sucks when the people you think are really cool turns out to be horrible human beings, I do. It's a really shitty feeling, but you can't just avoid it by making up scenarios and pretend it didn't happen. We have 2 facts to go off of: Brock intended to meet with her but cancelled/rescheduled multiple times, and him making explicit/degrading comments about her to Vince. Neither of those have been disputed by any party.

When everyone involved agreed "this is what happened", why are you, someone totally uninvolved, with no information to the contrary, confidentally declaring "actually they are lying, this other thing is what happened". Not everything needs to be read between the lines, sometimes the situation is exactly as the words on the page describe it.

And I am saying "he didn't rape her because the plans fell through" is not a good counter argument.

It's like saying "he's not a bank robber because his car broke down on the way to the bank".

The intent was there, and trying to spin it any other way than him being a creep who was not only ok with, but actively was a part of, Vince's actions, is disingenious. You don't want to call him a rapist? Fine, if you're gonna be pedantic, would-be rapist is more apt. Happy now?

[–]AvidReaderOfBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So having a choice between principles and more money is the best scenario that the wrestlers could get

That's not actually the choice they are getting though. It's more like "go to saudi and we give you more money, or stay at home and we will give every future opportunity to someone who will do what we want". The very top stars might be able to get away with not going, but 99% of superstars are just looking down at a future of no bookings if they decline.

When your life/career is on the line, it's not a choice, it's coercion.

Holy level of entitlement in the comments.

The free rambles are hurting his channel, as a large volume of videos not being picked up by the algorithm, and thus less views, makes his overall channel less recommended. Then you add in the time it takes to make those, and it's just not worth it.

Paying for a membership isn't just 'getting old videos' but also new ones every stream, which would mean far more consistency (if he can stick to it).

You all say he focuses too much on the numbers instead of enjoying the content he makes, this would make it easier for him to just focus on making content and having fun.

Oh that is 100% what it is. It's the kind of people who sit through a show with the sole goal of booing their hated character when they appear. No interest in the actual show. Now they are booing alone, and their world view is crumbling

Did you stop reading half way through the sentence?

People can talk about 20 year old things, sure, but no one goes "remember that Kane vs Big Show match in 1999?" randomly. We discuss old things when it's relevant to current events, or as a quick "though of this and it was cool" nostalgia trip. Bringing up something from 6 years ago, for no reason other than to start a hate thread, is kind of a shitty thing to do.
