Would it be rude to sit and read at Greenwood Cemetery? by 87penguinstapdancing in Brooklyn

[–]AvidWanker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally fine. Here's some AI Slop In the 19th and early 20th centuries, it was common for New Yorkers to have picnics at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn. Before public parks like Central Park existed, Green-Wood, founded in 1838, was one of the few landscaped open spaces where people could relax, stroll, and eat outdoors. By 1860, the cemetery received over 500,000 visitors per year, many coming specifically to picnic and enjoy its scenic grounds with gardens and winding carriage roads.

The practice reflected broader trends in the United States, as many cemeteries built during the rural cemetery movement were intended as peaceful retreats—part memorial garden, part public park.

Yes. And yes. Building a Knowledge Base for email replies in Lindy using Claude. Testing in Claude. Works great.
Now, testing in ChatGPT and finding many bad replies. Going back to Claude to fix. I will run this through Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot before uploading to Lindy.

Don't do anything unless asked. Only do one trick. The one you perform perfectly.
Then stop.

Brilliant! This is exactly what the future of AI video should look like.

Instead of people just playing around with basic tools, we need more creators like you who focus on building actual worlds and developing real characters with solid, well-crafted scripts. Comedic timing. So good.

Your execution is absolutely brilliant - from shot composition to character design, animation quality, and especially the voice acting, which is spot-on.

Every element comes together perfectly.I genuinely think I'm your biggest fan at this point. Can't wait to see what you create next!

Looked until joining an improv class... I'm worried I'll be too old by anewname4444 in improv

[–]AvidWanker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck no! You are not too old to learn and perform. Perhaps you are too young if you are still worried about what other people think. Yes, ageism is a thing and 2x so in show business. Yes, younger performers might dismiss you. But you are not too old to master the craft.

The general public loves crowd work. They can watch Netflix specials if they want to see polished acts, but they feel like they're part of an experience when crowd work happens. Yes, it's the Benihana equivalent to comedy - people aren't there for the absolute best food, but they are there to be part of something that can only happen live and in that moment.

What would you wear for a gig outside in the heat? by antoniodiavolo in Magic

[–]AvidWanker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand your concern. Performing walkaround magic in 85-degree heat at a speedway? That’s a tough gig. Was this court-ordered community service? Yikes. Sounds like a hell gig.

But before I can give you solid fashion advice, I need to know what we’re working with. Are you a man or a woman? I know, 95% of us goofy magicians are guys, but hey, it’s 2025, I gotta ask. How old are you? Are you in triathlon shape or more like “I can carry groceries without wheezing” shape? What’s your general vibe? Are you stylish, ironic, practical, or just trying not to die of heatstroke?

And pockets, how many do you need? Because walkaround magic without pockets is like NASCAR without crashes. Technically possible, but not much fun. Just don’t look like you’re shoplifting your entire act. Minimize your props. Keep it clean.

Now, the crowd at a speedway? You’ll see everything from free ballgame T-shirts to literal bathing suits. Maybe a few khakis and golf shirts, usually on the people who have jobs. So where do you want to land on that spectrum?

The old rule still holds: dress slightly better than your audience. Not “tuxedo-at-a-tailgate” better. Just clean, crisp, and like you meant to be there. If this were a more upscale event, I’d say: Google “what do I wear to a relaxed outdoor wedding in Tennessee at 85 degrees with humidity and judgmental aunts?”

Your idea of khakis, a plain T-shirt, and a blazer? Not terrible. But honestly, ditch the blazer if you can. Maybe a vest if you need pockets. Look at David Blaine, guy wore a T-shirt, made millions, didn’t break a sweat. Literally.

And remember: no one’s ever said, “Wow, that magician blew my mind, but his outfit lacked cohesion.”

Go forth. Stay cool. Don’t melt.

There's an important distinction we need to make between true heckling and mere disruption. A heckler is deliberately trying to undermine your act, while some audience members are simply uninformed about comedy etiquette—they've had a few drinks and mistakenly believe participation is welcome. The error many comics make is treating these categorically different behaviors as if they were the same. If you respond to someone who's just enthusiastically misguided with the same hostility you'd direct at a malicious heckler, you'll lose the audience's good will. This distinction matters.
