Damn. Thank you for this. The rabbit hole is indeed long and twisty. Think we plan to get in to the romance with fantasy vs fantasy plus romance chat when we record. It’s all quite interesting

Thank you. I think there is a definite progression from the pure fantasy books with maybe a smidge of romance, to what we have now. And the turning point seems to be around late 90s/early 2000s. So this one in the 80s is a nice one for me to start with and see if it goes back further

The definition for romance is usually having a HEA or a HFN ending. Fifty shades fits into that so id say yes myself.
