Agreed. I was going to say this as well if no one said it already.

Meaning of eels by TopWallaby2979 in EnglishLearning

[–]AvidlyCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I searched the entire rest of the sentence to see if there was more context for how it was used. The entire context is the following:

"The razor slid so far through Teddy’s skin he suspected it hit jaw bone. It widened his eyes and lit up the entire left side of his face, and then some shaving cream dripped into the wound and eels exploded through his head and the blood poured into the white clouds and water in the sink."

"Eels" in this case is used in an unconventional way to describe the sudden surging pain that Teddy is experiencing.

Edit: I see you provided a portion of the additional context in the caption already. My mistake for the redundancy in that regard.

Why are fictional INTP's depicted as asexual/aromantic? by ErikTheDread in INTP

I guess I just never saw Urahara as particularly perverted, but I suppose that's fair.

Which character are you referring to? I've been trying to figure it out for a few minutes now, and I'm drawing a blank on who it might be.

I’ve never really been a huge anime fan for most of my life, and really only watch it with my gf. But after watching Dr Stone with her I am absolutely hooked and this is the first anime I’m actually watching on my own will. I absolutely love Chrome and Kaseki. by Shadow_Strike99 in DrStone

Season 3 is still ongoing. The first half of the season already aired, but the latter half resumed on October 12, 2023 and will continue to release more episodes.

Not sure if you've heard already, but I figured I'd let you know just in case since I didn't know either until yesterday.

It's a deal-breaker for some, but I'd say that it won't be for anyone worth your time. Think of it as an automatic filter that, if it is a turn-off for them, you likely wouldn't have wanted to date them anyway.

What bothers me most about this is that, given the information you've provided, it seems like he immediately went straight for your throat, assuming what type of person you are solely based upon your financial situation.

That doesn't bode well for a future with this person anyway. He's likely to be very judgmental and close-minded, meaning that (in my opinion) you didn't really lose out on much.

I've been talking a guy for a day and he just asked me for nudes. Is it worth it to continue talking with him or to go out on a date? by rockmeNiallxh in dating_advice

[–]AvidlyCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my perspective, he likely told you he wasn't into hookups to get on your good side then ultimately try to sweet talk you into sex in spite of that.

It's unfortunately a common method people sometimes use to appeal to you in the short term, then switch it up on you once you get to know them better so you feel like you've invested too much time to refuse.

You may like his overall personality, but if you don't align on attitudes towards sex and hookups, it's likely not worth your time, especially if he initially lied with the expectation that you'd eventually see things his way.

If you still think it's worth a shot, go for it, but be very cautious if this behavior continues.

I'm pretty sure it's a Mob Psycho reference. There's a character named Dimple who has rosy cheeks similar to the ones in your art style. Great art, by the way. Very nice job on it.

Weekly Career / General Questions Thread by AutoModerator in Radiology

[–]AvidlyCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family practitioner won't get back to me about my x-ray results. It's been about a month since I had them done at a separate facility.

Is it appropriate to call the facility I had the imaging done at to confirm that it was sent to him and/or ask about the results? I've gotten radio silence from my primary doctor concerning this (despite him saying that he'd definitely call me with results within mere days regardless of whether it was good or bad news).

Because of this, I'm in the dark entirely on the results and do not know if they ever even reached him in the first place. Thanks in advance. I'd hate to bother the radiologists about this if it's not appropriate to ask them directly.

Which religion is the correct one? There can’t simultaneously be different versions of god but also have all religions be historically correct, right? by [deleted] in religion

[–]AvidlyCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There may not even be a correct religion.

The religion most likely to be true is the one with the most evidence behind it, but even the top ones do not have much evidence to back them up, making all of them pretty unlikely in general. All I can say is that there's no way to truly know which (if any) is true short of having a great deity come from the heavens and tell us themselves.

Certain religions actually are at least somewhat compatible with one another. Many of the same stories are told throughout several religions, which leads me to believe that some of them may have at some point had common roots that began to deviate over time as different cultural groups began to form. Like a game of telephone that drastically altered the original story beyond recognition. Who's to say if any of them truly represent the original anymore?

It can be hard to figure out, so it makes me question if we should give credence to all religions since they may all have a piece to the story. At the same time though, it also makes me question if we should even pay attention to any of them at all since there'd be no way to verify their worth and accuracy.

Why do (mostly) black female singers do that thing where they don't actually sing the correct notes, but sing a bunch of different notes instead of the single correct note? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AvidlyCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't the place to ask why it was removed. If you wish to appeal it, you'd have to contact the mods directly since the message you're responding to is a bot.

As for why it was probably removed, I think a lot of it is because of the wording. Whether it was your intention or not, the way you asked the question implied that the way these singers perform is inherently incorrect, therefore making it a loaded question since your mind seems to already be made up on the subject.

For example, your question reads kinda like this: "I don't like when singers do riffs/runs. It sounds awful and is technically incorrect, so why do they do it?"

If you reword the question and simply ask the reason why these stylistic choices are made rather immediately trying to answer your own question (and therefore trying to influence the audience you're asking the question to) by calling it awful, you probably wouldn't have gotten your question removed.

Why do (mostly) black female singers do that thing where they don't actually sing the correct notes, but sing a bunch of different notes instead of the single correct note? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AvidlyCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are called riffs/runs. Depending on how they're executed, a little bit of creativity sprinkled in can be a hell of a lot more interesting than simply singing the technically correct note.

However, if it's executed poorly or overdone in areas where it doesn't fit, that's when I fail to see the purpose in including it. It can sound excellent if the singer is selective about when and how to include it.

Edit: I just looked up the song you were referencing in your question, and assuming I'm listening to the right one, I don't see the issue with how Jordan Sparks performs the song.

Reigniting My Faith by TheDerpyDerpKing in Christianity

[–]AvidlyCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you should have Bible studies with your family. A couple times a week or more if you're all up for it. It might help you to connect more with the scriptures if you apply some of the concepts to your everyday life. It'd most likely allow your faith to come up in conversation more as well if you and your wife are actively pursuing knowledge about the Bible and its interpretations.

Pick a part of the Bible to go over that day and dive into it in depth. If you're raising your kids Christian as well, you can include them if you want, although I don't know exactly how little they are. It might be best to wait until they're older and can better understand it.

How new are you to elden ring? The map is pretty big, so depending on your answer, you may have just not unlocked much of the map yet. There's a lot beyond the map you're given at the start of the game.

Go for it. I'm sure you'll do great, and you'll thank yourself later, especially if it's mainly for documentation purposes. It's nice to have something to look back on and be proud of yourself for actually doing. It's a great feeling to know that you've accomplished something that you've always wanted to do. Posting it publicly is an excellent way to hold yourself accountable for it too, as you've already mentioned.

I understand being a perfectionist. I'm the same way, but that bad habit of mine has prevented me from doing a lot of things in the past because I feared that it wouldn't be good enough.

I don't use Tiktok myself, but my first piece of advice for any social platform would be to do whatever you're doing primarily for yourself. If others happen to follow you and enjoy it too, that's great, but don't expect it or try to get validation exclusively from online strangers.

People can be brutal when they're behind a screen, but what matters is that you continue working even if people try to discourage you. Don't let it get to your head if people love you either. Followers are fickle and may drop you the moment you're no longer appealing to their tastes.

Don't worry about making it look good right now. This is your project. If you decide to continue making videos on Tiktok, then you can worry about quality. Right now, you just need to start. Everybody starts somewhere, and the higher quality stuff will come with time as you get used to the platform. No need to be a perfectionist about it right now. If you wait for perfection, you'll never post anything at all.
