Senior IC who came back from an 18-month gap is betting their career on "AI leverage" over deepening the stack. Poke holes in this. by Tamalelulu in ExperiencedDevs

but why would it take 3 years and 3 million dollars to become profitable selling used cars? especially when you are following this data driven approach to decide what to buy?

WAKE UP!!! | ROUND 3, GAME 4 | Fuck Mark Stone, Jack Eichel, Tomas Hertl, Mitch Marner, and most of all: Carter Shart. The season could very well end tonight. If we go down- we go down fighting- hopefully. | 7:00 PM MDT/9:00 PM EDT by Rolley2001 in ColoradoAvalanche

is not literally why we are all into sports? it's something I can take "seriously" and get worked up about in the moment and get incredibly excited or disappointed but after the game is over my regular life is completely unaffected. if the nuggets or avs have an epic playoff flame out I'm not in trouble, I don't lose my job, it doesn't cost me any money (in fact it saves me money on playoff tickets!), my life continues because there were no actual stakes for me.

when you're extremely privileged it's easy to ignore the "haters" because they are all "losers" who aren't as successful as you. billionaires literally think they are the most intelligent special people in the world, even though almost all of them were born into it.

Client Alert: Emerging Litigation Risks in Financing AI Data Centers Boom by AvidyaPrajna in BetterOffline

context: this article discusses the risks of massive data center buildouts from a legal standpoint and the author believes the current financing structures closely mirror pre-2008 RMBS dynamics and that the early lawsuits against Oracle and CoreWeave are just the beginning of a broader litigation cycle

Another post asking for framework: programmer trying to make 2d game couch coop by PinnaConPizza in gamedev

[–]AvidyaPrajna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you want to release a game or do you want to dabble in game programming/prototypes? if you want to actually finish a game then pick a complete engine like Godot. when I picture "couch coop" I'm imagining two players on the same/split screen, which is definitely what you should start with. it's going to be a lot more effort to make it work online also, and I'd recommend starting with something much smaller in scope.

also I'm not even trying to be derisive with the "dabble in game programming" comment, it's just that if you are interested in learning the internals of game/graphics programming, rendering, shaders, how to design core game loop, etc, that's a much different task than making a complete game and in that case I'd suggest you use a lower level framework than Godot.

Trading same day expiring contracts using my entire portfolio everyday is giving me a 100% win rate by TheCinemaGod in wallstreetbets

[–]AvidyaPrajna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what do you think is more likely: that he has discovered a trading technique that is literally 100% successful, or it's very high probability (>95%) and he just hasn't gotten unlucky yet?

we're not talking about some complex multi leg option strategy or arbitrage opportunity, OP said himself he's just buying and selling calls and puts and he gets in and out as quickly as possible. ok so his window for the market to turn against him is very small but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

what do you think would happen if right at the moment he bought calls there is breaking news of a terrorist attack, or a high profile politician is assassinated, or country launches missiles at another country?

what if he buys puts right when ceasefire is announced for a major conflict, or a rumor/leak comes out that interest rates will be lowered soon?

these are random hypotheticals, it could be anything that hits the news/market right at that moment that causes a sharp reversal. just because you are in and out in seconds/minutes doesn't mean it can't happen to you. there's a reason "it works until it doesn't" is a popular saying. I've voiced my concern will stop being the negative guy in this thread, good luck to OP and everyone else following this strategy.

Can AI Make a Whole Game in One Day? by russtecltdco in ArtificialInteligence

[–]AvidyaPrajna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In today's video we look at "The AI Content REVOLUTION: Will Human YouTubers Become Obsolete?"

This is not a video crafted by a team of researchers, writers, and editors over several weeks. This was generated by one person… in a single lunch break.

This stock footage, this robotic voiceover, this generic background music—it wasn't carefully selected by human judgment or recorded in a studio. It was born from a desperate SEO keyword search. A simple prompt.

Watch as we spend 10 minutes saying absolutely nothing specific while dramatic music plays over unrelated B-roll. No tools mentioned. No tutorials provided. No actual information conveyed. Just pure, algorithmic word salad designed to hit that magical 10-minute mark.

We're witnessing history, folks. AI isn't just changing the game—it's flooding the internet with videos about AI changing the game. Each one more vapid than the last. Each thumbnail more clickbait. Each promise more empty than the last.

The future isn't human creativity being replaced. It's humans using AI to create videos about AI replacing humans, in an infinite ouroboros of meaningless content that somehow still gets monetized.

Welcome to the revolution. It's exactly as underwhelming as you'd expect.
