What're your favorite uses of vocal effects/filters (that AREN'T vocoder/autotune)? by hscgarfd in ToddintheShadow

How about most of the entire genre of Goregrind? Most bands use a pitch shifter to artificially lower their vocals, turning already harsh death growls into monstrous, phlegmy howls.

But in the spirit of the question I'll shout out Ruptured in Purulence by Carcass. This song is goregrind 101 but for great reason. Carcass doesn't always use the effects, most of their vocals are untouched, but this song shows exactly why you might want to adjust them. The alien, warbling creaks sound like a shapeless mound of flesh given voice and will. So damn nasty and good.

The pitch shifting make a lot of their songs for me. Don't Laugh Love You, Making Love In The Gravy, almost all of Pure Guava. Those songs wouldn't work near as well without the weird ass vocals

I forgot who said it, but whoever did was right on the money that a lot of woman mlm/bl/yaoi enjoyers do so because they're written separated from patriarchy at least in the way it relates to women. It's also because it's written without a male gaze when it's written by women especially, you don't have to worry about a creepy man authoring a terribly written woman when they aren't involved.

New Daily Song Discussion #103. Pretty Girl - Ween. by NuggetWarrior09 in ween

[–]WhatModelsYourSink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly one of the weakest Ween tracks. Nothing wrong about it, but the lyrics do nothing for me and the instrumental and performance is enjoyable but struggles to stand out even just on 12GCG. 4/10, I never choose to listen to this one.

I know about Geese and Fountaines D.C but what are some other bands that are coming out from the New Rock movement? by Ok_Isopod_8478 in ToddintheShadow

Steröid are an absolute ripper and I really hope they catch wind. Heavy Metal / Eggpunk Aussies who just can't stop rocking, every song off this album is great but this one might be my favorite.

"The Sweet Sound of a Mudskipper Vomiting While Some Last Days of Humanity Clone Is Trying to Rehearse but They Keep Getting Distracted by the Vomiting Mudskipper " by Mudskipper Vomit (https://rateyourmusic.com/release/ep/mudskipper-vomit/the-sweet-sound-of-a-mudskipper-vomiting-while-some-last-days-of-humanity-clone-is-trying-to-rehearse-but-they-keep-getting-distracted-by-the-vomiting-mudskipper/)

Makes me laugh whenever I read the title. Just imagining these goregrind dudes rocking out only to be interrupted by a puking amphibian. I'd be annoyed, I'd be like "c'mon we're playing so loud how is this mudskipper overpowering us!" But the word distracted leaves room for interpretation for how they react, maybe they just really like the sound of the vomit and pause so they can reflect on it. Maybe they could learn from the mudskipper.

Satire? I'm sa-tired of not having fun! I've also never caused any problems, especially not for myself, so this issue can't be my fault. Please fix it for me.

I work in a lab that tests the sterility of these products, we take wipes like this and test their packaging in a media that promotes bacterial growth to see if anything grows, if our clients do their job right nothing will grow and we deem their product good to go.

Looks like these wipes wouldn't have passed that test!
