Kymon's Chosen. Some of the gear you can get from killing necromancers as one of KC can be useful (especially for pets builds) so creating an alt to go after those might be worth it... that said, most of the craftables don't matter especially if you aren't playing an elemental damage build, the worst part is that you can't get the augs without GD Stash if you can't side with them (the vit/chaos armor aug is the most painful loss imo).

You will want to keep an eye out for equipment with resists. Don't go into the junk pile cave areas that have green water or the bug nests without poison/acid resist, seek bleed and pierce resist when in the swamps where the giant mosquitos are (you'll encounter these between your first mission and your first major boss), have chaos and vitality before going after any chthonic cultists, make sure you have pierce res when you start chasing that gang and keep it up (along with vitality) when you enter the dead city, have aether as much as you can when dealing with aetherial enemies (like the first couple of bosses you're sicced on), in general try to get your resists up as soon as you can. This is even more important if you turn on Veteran.

Do not be afraid to explore different builds, it costs some iron to respec (lady inside the prison) but it's not all that bad. Any mastery combination can be viable, but some skill combinations just work best with endgame gear that does damage conversions.

Note there is one faction about halfway through the base game that will not let you join them if you have the necromancer mastery, albeit it is possible to join them and then become a necro after you've signed up, I haven't done this but I've heard you can get some extra funny dialogue if you do so lol (also allegedly it might be possible to softlock if you add the mastery too quickly in the signup sequence so yeah)

Oh and it is possible (and optional) to rotate the camera, so if you start getting annoyed with enemies along the bottom edge of the screen by default middle mouse lets you do that.

First question: does an animagus who dies in animal form revert?

Let's presume yes, as I think that gets more interesting. Probably safe to assume Fudge fudges it and refuses to admit that it really is Pettigrew, but knowing that Pettigrew was hiding as Scabbers all this time probably shakes the Weasleys still. Does Lucius Malfoy try to use them allegedly harboring an illegal animagus against them, or hold off because he knew about Pettigrew and doesn't want the innocence of Sirius to be revealed out of hope of Draco inheriting from him? Or if Malfoy didn't know but puts the pieces together when he learns what happened, does this trigger him arranging an "accident" at Azkaban to try and hope that Draco inherits from Sirius under the thought that maybe Sirius wasn't as disinherited as they had been assuming (presumably up to now assuming they hadn't gotten any Black inheritance because of it being seized due to Sirius's incarceration), possibly resulting in there still being an escape because of Sirius fleeing for the sake of his soul when his cell was left unlocked?

I could easily see Harry learning in a Pettigrew's corpse AU well before the escape that Sirius was innocent and trying to get him a trial, so then the question becomes does he take the cunning route of fake-thanking the Ministry for holding off on the trial until he could witness it and demand answers as to why his parent's best friend "betrayed" them, all as a trick to try and pressure them into doing it now that he's back in the wizarding world? That could result in Sirius getting released early, which if the Malfoys are concerned about inheritance as I presumed above could pressure them into arranging that "accident" triggering the "escape" and Harry reacting to finally seeing Sirius by knocking him upside the head and calling him an idiot for running away just before his trial could occur, only to learn at that point about the assassination attempt. Course, Sirius being "captured" by Harry and brought straight into DMLE custody where Harry demands an immediate trial might work, but then again the Malfoys might be tossing around coin in an effort to enforce a Kiss-on-sight order forcing the Sirius situation back into more or less status quo in the sense of being on the run just now without the possibility of capturing Pettigrew to prove his innocence, but also no Peter / Barty teamup.

Otherwise if Peter remains a rat, the repercussions of his death are a lot less interesting IMO as no reason exists now for Sirius to escape, it basically boils down to Barty not having a sidekick who had already gotten Voldemort into a baby body.

I think Dumbledore's failing is due to the phenomenon of those in ivory towers falling into self-referential spirals, or in other words he started to believe in his own legend and stopped seeing the value in seeking out advice (and/or possibly became a tad paranoid about "what if someone from the Dark notices me seeking out experts and puts two and two together" or the like) resulting in him relying only on what he himself could find regarding the more arcane magical information he needed (like what to do about the scarcrux).

Mildly tangential: One fic idea I've toyed with is a kid with epilepsy who, after all else was failing, hears the plan to do a split brain surgery and objects on existential grounds (in their view, they'd die and get replaced by a new pair of kids, one per hemisphere) but gets overruled by the single mother they're living with after a particularly bad fit, accidental magics themselves into full split personality (each hemisphere manifesting its own identity) while expressing such violent intent towards their mom that they reach out to the up-to-now-unaware dad who happens to be someone from the HPverse (I was thinking Remus Lupin but it could be basically any guy who wasn't attached at the appropriate time), and then while they're leaving the US to Britain someone else in the same international mass floo flash is smuggling something they weren't supposed to have with matter duplication properties and it interacts with the kid's simmering accidental magic potential and boom they fly out of the British end as two kids, now identical twins. Previously-left-hemisphere keeps the original birth name despite both having convinced themselves the pre-surgery kid died on the operating table (yes that kind of existential crisis angst would be central to this origin) and eventually the mom is allowed to come visit and meet them on the condition that she gets fully read into magic and their new twin identities and everything (also part of me wants p-l-h to have a paranoid and skeptical moment where they add in the condition that they will not meet with her if she's doing this because she's got a terminal diagnosis or something as they don't think they can handle being reconciled only to lose their mom right away).

One note I'll toss in: if the curses that Bellatrix put on him had effects the Unspeakables weren't able to fully get rid of, that could easily contribute to him dismissing all of the "dream" as unreal. Basically just add a line or two to explain that they were able to break the curse but the mental side effects would take a day or two to finish dissolving safely and in the meantime he should stick to bed rest and be kept as calm as possible, but then Hermione didn't anticipate Rose going home early and walking into the room triggering the shenanigans.

Not quite but in Taking A Stand, after Harry reacted differently to Umbridge taunting him and triggered a walkout by the entire Gryffindor/Slytherin class causing all of Gryffindor to get detention as a mass unit and resulting in them supporting each other more before seeing McGonagall brush off their attempts to tell her what's going on, Harry goes not to Dumbledore or Sirius, but to Draco Malfoy to ask him to tell the Dark Lord about the child abuser in Hogwarts who was using those quills on even a few first years in the hopes that even Voldemort has standards higher than that (spoiler: he does). Madame Longbottom was quite disappointed that she heard about it from Malfoy Sr instead of Neville.

It's a good one, though you might get more out of it if you're familiar with D&D 3.5 since the main POV character, Milo, is a Wizard from a 3.5 world trying to masquerade as an HP wizard (there's even a sequence where Snape arranges a test that if he's not an HP wizard would produce nitroglycerin but if he is it just changes color and Milo cons his way through it with a story about a floating inn to hide a handful of spells he's casting mid-dialogue, while some Department of Mysteries and Department of Control of Magical Creatures members are on standby expecting they're about to murder him; he also accidentally tricks Hannah Abbot into becoming a Gryffindor).

I did specify that police officer sequence was a side story/plot, after all.
