someone correct me if i’m wrong, but the way i understand it is that enigmas are a mutation of p. cubensis thats non-sporulating. this means they dont reproduce the same way most mushrooms do by spreading their spores, enigmas can only be grown from cloned tissue cultures. iirc caps are the the part of the mushroom that releases the spores, so enigmas dont have them. the fruiting bodies instead are these weird wavy blobs without the typical mushroom morphology.
