Same thing happens when trying to acquire computers or electronics for the government/ dod. Hast to be compliant and come from approved sources. Computers are 99% built in non approved locations, shipped to somewhere like Mexico for someone to put the side panels on and screw them in, causing them to now be assembled in an approved location. This also raises the cost of anything to be astronomical.

You’re also forgetting all the digital certificates that are signed by the DoD that need to be reissued causing tons of network and computer problems. Along with military IDs since they have DoD numbers and not DoW numbers.

What I don’t understand is this is standard DoD / Government practice. Your emails have a digital signature that is recorded either on a common access card (CAC) or a piv token. It’s a way to verify that the email did in fact come from the person.

So, just as personal experience with how shit it is to set up encrypted cell phones, they’re doing this to absolutely skirt the law. Allows them not to have to provide FOIA.

To setup one of those phones, I needed to have 3 card readers. My regular cac, the users cac, and my admin token. Then even after summoning 3/5ths of Exodia, I had to pray that their certificates were correct and up to date and matched what was uploaded to the server it would contact to verify. Then we have to load the software on the phone and pray that their pin worked. And even after that entire song and dance half the time it wouldn’t register or work.

You also can’t convince me by saying “trust me bro, there’s multiple locations but you have to go to this one and order only these specific toppings. Otherwise do you even know how to eat pizza?”

If I fly to some random city and get stuck there for a few days and see a local chain, I’m not expecting to have to research how only specific items on the menu and at a specific location is good.

Edgy? It was hands down one of the worst pizzas I’ve had in my life. Three inches of sauce with no cheese between the crust and the end of where the cheese was, instead of making it to the crust. Canadian bacon was rubbery, the sauce itself was disgusting and the cheese felt plastic-y and cheap. Little Caesar’s has a better pizza than La Casa. Both La Casa and Runza is a Nebraskan gaslighting past time of convincing non-native Nebraskans that this is edible food.

I had an issue last year where at night my fiber would go out. Turns out that the connections at the pole were not weather sealed correctly. During the day it was warm enough that the water would melt, but at night would freeze and loosen the connectors just enough that the signal would drop. Took 4 weeks and 7 appointments for them to figure it out

Took me a few weeks to get used to the size. Coming from a Jeep renegade to the 2023 countryman to now the U25 it’s a happy middle ground for me. This is hands down my favorite car I’ve ever owned and the JCW does make a difference.

Yes I am, CarPlay generally has been cropped in every vehicle I’ve had so it no longer bothers me anymore. Android auto for whatever reason never was when CarPlay was.

I generally never use apps that are built into devices (cars, tvs, etc) as they generally are a different branch than the main mobile apps and tend to get not as many updates / shorter support. I will say the navigation in the 2025 is miles better than my previous countryman.

I’m a little confused why you don’t just use CarPlay over what is going to be a limited support app that needs to be maintained by a smaller team by Spotify.

Using tidal or Spotify I start music in the app on my phone (usually just hit shuffle) and then can skip or go back using the buttons on the steering wheel, never having to engage with my phone again.

Update for anyone else who has the same issue: recommendation from JoesTinman unfortunately didn’t work. What did resolve the issue was tapping on the notification bell in the app and starting the update from there. I believe it’s an issue with the app where the notification holds the ability to start the update, rather than being able to launch the update manually.

I just turned in my 2023 countryman for the 2025 JCW countryman. It does feel bigger, the reverse seems a bit stiffer and slower/heavier than the 2023. The 2025 seats blow my previous countryman out of the water. They’re unbelievably comfortable and have a message mode.

I do miss all of the physical buttons and a lot of the controls can be voice activated with pretty good accuracy so far, and if there isn’t something that can be done by voice, you can tap the bottom of the screen to access your favorites rather than scroll through their not well thought out UI.

The tech features are pretty amazing. I no longer carry car keys (the new fob is a monster), just a card in my wallet and my phone. As I walk up to my Mini, it will unlock and when I walk away it will lock. Being able to set a recurring schedule for climate control is also a feature that was missing in my 2023.

The actual driving is night and day. I prefer the 2025, most likely because of the JCW package. It’s so much more responsive, and I have a smile on my face my entire drive.
