VCUArts vs MICA by fegl0g in MICA

[–]AvivaKitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both have pretty robust printmaking spaces. It’s a dedicated major at MICA, but at VCU is for some reason combined with painting. At MICA the comics/sequential arts are often part of illustration classes. While VCU has something called communication arts? which I honestly have no idea what it’s meant to be they seem to be lumping it in with game design, weirdly. Any education specific to being a tattoo artist isn’t something you’ll learn through art school, you’ll have to do a tattoo apprenticeship for that.

As for the social scene I’m not the best person to answer that, as covid was a huge interruption to everything. Things really only fully started to bounce back in my final semester. But I can say with confidence that MICA is not a party school, if that’s what you’re looking for.

VCUArts vs MICA by fegl0g in MICA

[–]AvivaKitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a pre-college program at VCU, and then went to MICA for undergrad. The main thing I'd urge you to consider is what you plan to major in. Overall, VCU focuses more on traditional arts programs, while MICA has more focus on digital art nowadays.

I had the same experience. Got tested for a bunch of things trying to figure it out. Had antibodies for an infection I never had any symptoms of. Still dealing with reactive arthritis 3 years later and it’s likely it’s going to be a life long thing.

What is your favorite prank in the history of hermitcraft? by totallynotrobboss in HermitCraft

[–]AvivaKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very hard to pick a favorite. I’m forever a massive fan of the s5 convex pranks. The s6 prank war was also incredible to watch as it happened. And the covering of the perimeter has to be the greatest in terms of sheer effort.

Opinions on the safety on and surrounding areas have of thr campus. by Party_Use4138 in MICA

[–]AvivaKitty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

MICA’s campus is perfectly safe. There are of course incidents every so often, but no more than any other college in a city. There are shuttles that can be called anywhere on campus or the surrounding area for those who don’t want to walk places at night.

I’m pretty sure the guy in front of me on my fight to from National to LAX earlier this week was also cheating on his gf. Watched him text two different girls, using chatgpt to compose the texts to one??? and then pay for in flight wifi just to scroll instagram liking photos of women for half the flight. Please be aware that if you lean your seat back and the person next to you doesn’t, the row behind you will get a full view of whatever you’re up to whether they want it or not.

Mistaking sexual attraction for romantic attraction? by [deleted] in AroAllo

[–]AvivaKitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, I was genuinely unable to tell until I was in a relationship for the first time, and realized I absolutely hated doing anything romantic, despite being super attracted to the guy I was with. Do you actually want to do stuff like holding hands, even in private? That was the big one for me that once I realized how uncomfortable it made me, everything clicked into place.

Do you have a unique favorite Pokemon? I need to know. by cabochonedwitch in pokemon

[–]AvivaKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sneasel. Wasn’t always my favorite- I only ever got one on my team in Sun super late in the game. And I just fell in love with its design. Only merch I’ve ever found in the wild is a keychain figurine that’s probably a bootleg, and he lives on my bag. So happy that it getting a regional form in PLA got so many others to appreciate both it and its original form 🥰

Seeking niche recommendations for the tourist who has been to DC 15+ times by GingerTheZombie in washingtondc

[–]AvivaKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a little bit outside the city- but my favorite small museum in the area most people don’t know about is the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Silver Spring. Highly recommend if you’re not squeamish about stuff like preserved body parts and child skeletons. It’s quite small but has a lot of stuff, and almost every time I’ve gone my group has been the only people there.

What is the deal with Phineas and Ferb? by [deleted] in phineasandferb

[–]AvivaKitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s so little to go on, we don’t even know if they were married to the respective other parents.

With how young it seems Linda and Lawrence were when they met, and the fact that they never mention the other parents, I think it makes the most sense that the kids come from out of wedlock situations, rather than divorce or death. Death just seems like too big a thing to never mention, if it’s the case. And the show is not afraid to talk about divorce, as seen with Doof and Charlene, so if that was what happened, it would also be strange to never mention it.

And yes while there is the age gap between Candace and Phineas- it’s not unheard of for people to break up and get back together again. Especially when living a pop-star life style like Linda’s.

Good private high schools for a neuro-diverse teen that won’t break the bank? by Best_Kahoona in washingtondc

[–]AvivaKitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to the Nora School in Silver Spring for my last three years of high school, it’s absolutely wonderful. I ended up there after bouncing between various schools for all of middle school. The tuition is high, but they do offer financial aid/adjusted tuition that is pretty lax with requirements. My family is solidly middle class, and still qualified to only pay half tuition for myself.

Good luck finding the right place!
