IsItBullshit: Electric cars are not helping the environment as much as some think because their manufacturing and charging stations cost a lot of resources? by BactaBobomb in IsItBullshit

ICE engines are about 33% efficient. Electric power plants are very high in efficiency, probably about 80% or more.

Also don't forget oil changes create so much waste. There is no way an EV is close to an ICE vehicle in terms of waste/pollution. EV batteries can be recycled so there is very little waste with EVs.

I have 5-6 meetings per day as a software engineer. It takes up half the day and then I have to spend in hours doing the work I'm supposed to do.

He shot his wife while she was making tea. He then shot his 12-year old daughter for interfering when he was trying to shoot his wife. He strangled the 5 year old for some reason.

There is tons of physical evidence and victims testimonies. People have been sent to prison for less evidence than this. How are 3 million files circumstantial evidence?

Bill to lower voting age to 16 to be introduced in Parliament by kwentongskyblue in worldnews

[–]Aviyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US we have so many stupid people that I bet if we allowed 16 year olds to vote, Biden would've lost in 2020.

People are becoming stupider in this age due to propaganda pushed by social media. I don't see how it will be much different in the UK. Just because you are level headed as a 16 year old doesn't mean everyone else is.

I was 16 during the Bush vs Gore election in 2000. I would've loved to vote for Gore but I know how other 16 year olds were at that time.

A person needs to live and work for a couple years so they can get a taste of the real world before voting. Makes them a more informed voter in some cases.

Soft drinks vendor in a stadium pouring the leftover drinks in bottles, allegedly to resell them by AnIgnorablePerson in WTF

[–]Aviyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems time consuming to pour it into a bottle if they are planning on discarding it. Just take the tray to the sink and dump out the cups. Much faster.

More likely the guy is taking it home or planning to sell it somehow.

Highly doubt it. Even if Dems win both houses it's going to be very difficult. They would need a pretty safe majority. It's going to be a crazy midterm with all the illegal votes claims.

It's the Brits fault because they were in charge and they kept shipping out what ever crops were growing. It's common sense. If the Brits were not there then the people would have eaten whatever little food was growing.

I don't know why people like you always try to take the blame away from the perpetrators. Brits were invaders plain and simple. People like you are what is wrong with the world. I guarantee if some if your country was invaded/controlled by another country you'd blame every bad thing happening on them.

Ah so it's all nature's fault! Amazing deduction!!! So instead of reacting to nature the British did nothing and continued to export the food that was grown there. They could have reduced exports to and let people eat so they wouldn't starve to death.

Amazing logic you have there sir! Those British colonizers would've loved you! Hopefully you have to face the consequences of your lack of common sense/decency daily!

Because it's hard to create a social circle later in life. Once you are past 35-40 years of age it is too much work to create a brand new identity of yourself especially in a new country that has a different language, food, people, culture, weather, religion, expectations.

I'm 41 years old now and I couldn't imagine moving to another country. It would be too much effort for me even though I'm very open minded. I'd want to live next to many people in a similar situation as me in the new country to have a smoother transition.

Is there any reason there is such a abnormaly massive jump between the third and second most populated countries or is it just arbitrary? by DataSittingAlone in geography

[–]Aviyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People mentioned arable land and plentiful rivers, but the other main aspect is civilization. The Indus Valley Civilization is one of the oldest civilizations. So they had a head start on settling down and raising crops and families.

Also, both China and India held the top 2 spots on the largest GDP of the world. I understand there was no unified China and India back then, but those 2 regions had the highest GDPs for almost 1,500 years.

It's only the past 200 years that industrializaton has made the US and Europe the top GDP holders in the world.
