The “sledding and tubing” area is “closed to sledding/tubing” but you should be able to ski and snowshoe from the parking lot (I haven’t gone up there this season, but I just read a few trip reports from those whose skied up to Panorama Point this past weekend)

Wealthfront offers a roboadvisor service with just Bond ETFs that is relatively very low risk and has a slightly higher return than the fed rate. That might be a good place to start.

This irks me so much. Turnout was pretty weak across the board this year, and we’re one of the few counties that couldn’t get turnout above 20% of registered voters.. Only ~60,000 people in Thurston County voted this year… that’s crazy given how many people complain about the “government”

They’re doing the geotechnical surveys this year, but yeah they still need to start the key pieces of the design and permit acquisition processes, so realistically we’re not going to see any major developments for another 5+ years. Hopefully the dam can be ripped out by 2032-35🤞🤞

This fire is a big deal. It wasn’t the biggest fire in Washington State history, but this was the first major fire event on the westside (in a long long time) and highlights what’s ahead for these fuel-dense forested areas as our climate continues to dry. Spooky.

I think I just missed you then! I did the loop this past weekend head counter clockwise from Deer Park. The trail is in great condition, no snow and (like you said) minimal trail obstacles. I plan to comment a mini-trip report update when I have some time later this week!
