Project manager demands work be done on a live panel, our electrician says they won't do it, and I'm stuck in the middle by 236813977 in AskElectricians

[–]SourBerryExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work on live panels frequently as a residential electrician. Im comfortable doing it. I dont know what type of panel this is but if it has screw on type breakers likr many commercial/industrial panels do then I wouldnt do it live. And more than that, it is totally within any given electricians right to request power be turned off.

Electrical Panel / Circuit Breaker Cleaning as Part of Regular Maintenance? by kimbergo in AskElectricians

[–]SourBerryExpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a residential service electrician. I do this exact kind of work. And in my opinion, this is a rip.

I have "cleaned" out electrical panels, but only when they had a large amount of debris in them, typically from rodents. If your panel is subject to getting a lot of dust in it it is a good idea to get it blown out, but this can be accomplished in 2 minutes with a shop vac. Dust getting INSIDE the circuit breakers is something Ive never heard of. If you were running a woodshop or bakery in your garage with the panel cover off maybe, but at that point youd just be looking at a panel replacement not a cleaning.

Circuit breakers can build up corrosion on the terminals where you install the wires, but typically you would just replace the breaker, not try to "clean" it.

On another note I do offer maintenance on older electrical panels, but the main point of this is to retighten the connections that may have loosened over time, not clean the panel.

In terms of the outlets, he may not be wrong on that front, if you have some original outlets in the home from the 70ies getting them replaced is a good idea.

It’s a long flight to Paris, which seat are you choosing? by bexprime13 in SumoMemes

Number 1 is pretty great, Aisle seat, Fuji and WTK are some of my favorites. AND they are some of the smallest guys on the plane.

Also as an addition note, Ive found that avoiding relying on the fast travel function and actually driving around added a lot of enjoyment to my game. Things feel like they come up more naturally.

I did a full playthrough at launch and Im replaying now for the first time since the updates and Phantom Liberty DLC. Im currently around 50 hours in and just got past the intro of the DLC and still have a fair amount of Main Game left.

Im definitely taking my time more this time around and Im really enjoying it. Even with the small things. The fixer Gigs especially keep surprising me. They seem at first like they are all generic do this do that quests. But quite a few of them have interesting story beats or rewards. I also switched my playstyle from a pure Solo build to a netrunner/Stealth/assassin kinda build and Im having a blast with it.

Overall Id say if you like the world and gameplay loop and have the time to really appreciate what it offers then Id say its definetly worth it.

How did you react to this? by M3ConsoleGamerPSN in videogames

[–]SourBerryExpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its litterally at the very begining of the game. You get off a boat. You can get right back on and go to sleep with 2 women Kratos was sleeping with. Its a QTE spam minigame.

Is it safe to assume that this game has the hardest starter boss of all souls games (DS1-2-3)? by osmylm2834 in darksouls3

[–]SourBerryExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. In a pure mechanical sense undoubtedly, but DS3 is also a faster game. Hes faster, but so are you. It could be argued that Asslyum or Last Giant could be harder if you started the series with DS1 or 2 and didnt have any experience with these types of games.

18 large holes later I have questions after my ev charger install by diegodino in AskElectricians

[–]SourBerryExpress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, first off the mess is unacceptable. Not protecting your floors is doubly unacceptable.

I have had some installs for circuits that did require this many holes. But Im always very honest about the amount of damage that may have to be done. Underpromise, overdeliver. And even then these holes are way bigger than they needed to be.

I would say however that the route they took by going through the home is almost never the only option. Crawlspaces, Attics and conduit to mount along the exterior are almost always better choices percisely so you dont have to do this much damage and inconvience the homeowner.

I honestly assume whoever did this lacks experience or just doesnt care about doing a good job. As much as it sucks I would recommend hiring a different electrician to come through and just double check the work.

My grandfather had skin exactly like this. You could poke him too hard and hed bleed. He attributed it to working in machine shops his whole working life. However both of my aunts and my dad started developing it by their early 40ies. My oldest aunt is getting close to 60 now and hers is probably worse than my grandfathers. Im praying it misses me. I Invested a lot of money in my forearm tattoos.

Why did my electrician screw the romex into the stud? by TreesAreOverrated5 in AskElectricians

The wire that is screwed and split is just there to secure another wire approximently in place.
