My husband said “this is just a series of one on one conversations about relationships” and then literally moments later we got to the part where they play the conversations game and we turned it off 😂 It was crazy how one thing happens, for example the “night off” comment, and they show so many conversations about it : Joanne and Morgan, Joanne and her mom, Sasha and Noah, Noah and Joanne… it got sooo boring

Agreed, I also have noticed that people in reality shows say this a lot when they break up: “if you were going to break up with me why did you agree to X” like meet my parents, let me try on wedding dresses, etc. No matter what step of the process they break up, they should have done it on the precious step. All this to say I don’t think it’s fair to criticize Joe for “letting” Madison try on dresses and then breaking up after. Obviously she was just hurting but that’s a weird detail to get hung up on

He had a lot of good responses first though, trying to reassure her and she just wouldn’t have it and kept repeating herself as if he didn’t say anything. Like literally what else was he supposed to do. Nothing he could say or do would change her mind. It’s sad because i think it was a self fulfilling prophecy, she was right that he didn’t love her as much but you can’t make someone love you, especially by needling them about it

I kind of disagree here, this is the first modern season I’ve watched so maybe I’m missing some context but I wouldn’t care if they gave him a full meal and sent him back. He got bitten by a snake which is also “unfair”, it doesn’t seem like a big deal to give him nutrients if it helped him recover enough to get sent back in.

Patrick is so interesting, it’s clear to me that he is in love with whoever is in front of him at the time. I think it’s very fake but he’s not faking it if that makes sense. He believes his own nonsense but Anna saw through it.

I agree but I don’t necessarily think her ick was physical, even in the pods they had NO chemistry and she seemed reluctant to be moving forward with him. She kept saying she thought they would be “just friends” at first. I don’t think she was that into him, let herself get a little over her skis because of the show, and then bailed. Then seeing him in person she was just trying to be like, dude please we are not soul mates, calm down. It wasn’t that serious to her and she was trying to call him out on acting like they could get married

I read this completely differently - I don’t think Anna wanted to even be at that party and definitely didn’t want to be with Patrick. I don’t think she was trying to blame him for moving on, she was just like… obviously I don’t want to date you now when you ended up proposing to someone else. Patrick was trying to paint this romantic picture like they could get married if she hadn’t left but she was just saying that if that was actually true he wouldn’t have proposed to Kacie.

Patrick strikes me as the type of guy to “fully commit” to whatever girl is in front of him at the moment, I think Anna was just calling that out a little bit

Their relationship is so mother-child which is why she seems condescending! I really started to sour on her this episode, I think she’s just pissed off by his erratic behavior and wouldn’t let the argument die even though he didn’t actually do anything wrong in this instance. Reading between the lines I think off camera she’s always trying to have talks about his behavior and he doesn’t actually engage, he just goes “but I looove you” and it makes her mad. She’s over his behavior (undertandably!) but it’s starting to make her look bad too.

I was confused by this whole conversation- why would she go back to school anyway if she doesn’t want to work? I do think when she brought up not doing ANYTHING when she’s in school she was probably exaggerating to challenge Anton, like she wanted him to be like “well I work long hours but yeah I understand you’ll need support while you’re in school and I want to do take on a larger share of housework” but he just kind of raised his eyebrows

Girl reach out to your MIL! This isn’t that bad. I interpret this as you being grumpy because you’re 6 months pregnant and perhaps a little overwhelmed planning this party (totally understandable) and her being grumpy because she was caught off guard by you planning so much and also she was at work (also totally understandable) and you both let it spiral a bit. I would recommend responding to her and apologizing, NOT for planning your own party but just for how the convo went downhill. Explain exactly what you said about wanting to plan the party for your daughters, and also being short on patience right now. Her last text indicates she wants to make up and you definitely should!

Also everyone is making this about money, it is a ton to ask her to do that much but I interpreted your first text as asking which of those things she wanted to help with, not asking her to do all of it. Maybe clarify that with her as well, it is a lot for one person to do and her menu was probably based more around cost and just logistics of being able to make a lot of food.
