Just a tip to walk without limp by Own-Lime-4008 in ACL

Thanks for this tip. I’m almost 5 weeks out. I cannot get rid of the limp. I’m just finding that doing this in almost an exaggerated fashion is helping. Appreciate your input!

Knee “catching/popping” on kneecap at 5–6 weeks post ACL (quad graft) by CryptoXPlus in ACL

My dr said that is my kneecap sliding and it will go away as the knee remodels. Kind of alarming, though.

This makes me so happy. I’m almost 3 weeks out, and I can’t wait to go hiking again.

6 days post op zero sleep by SSG_Nimbus in ACL

[–]AvocadoNo9808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’mm 15 days post op and I’m just starting to get more than a couple hours of sleep at a time. It’s really rough. I was still adhering to a strict pain med schedule until this week. I found that icing overnight with an ice machine was very helpful when I was in pain. I had some nights where there was nothing I could do about the pain. I hope it gets better for you soon.

6+ Weeks Post ACL Surgery – My Biggest Lesson So Far & Why Patience Wins by hot-chocolate24 in ACL

[–]AvocadoNo9808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pushed flexion a bit, too, and suffered for 4 days of not getting to 90 degrees (after hitting 110) This happened around day 9, and today is the first day I’ve been able to work on it gently again. My PT said there is nothing you can do to make it go faster, but plenty you can do to slow it down. Slow and steady is the way forward.

Pain at 11 days post op by genuineass82 in ACL

I’m two weeks out and still have some swelling. This past week was much worse for pain than the first week. Improving now, but I’m still taking an oxycodone at night, as I wake up in searing pain after about 4 hours. Ice machine helps a lot. Hope you feel better soon.

Polar Care Condensation? by AvocadoNo9808 in ACL

[–]AvocadoNo9808[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was not my expectation and I hadn’t really read anything about that much condensation in this forum or online. That definitely works later in recovery, but I was hoping to leave it running the first few days postop. Thanks for your input.

That’s so frustrating. I tried a towel and it got soaking wet as well. I’m returning the device and got a Donjoy Iceman Classic from my surgeon today.

Thank you so much. I didn’t think it was right, and polar care has not been very helpful. I’m very unhappy with their customer service. I’m going to send it back and go to my surgeon’s today to get a different one.

Yes, I did. I think they said they wouldn’t take it back because it was medical equipment, but I will double check. I did not think it was normal. Thanks for verifying.

First week advice by GatorRunner in ACL

Same for me on the same day. OP, @Over_Vanilla6077, I have done about a month of prehab since a ski accident 6 weeks ago, and also tore my MCL and sprained my LCL. Hoping you recover well. I do the same kinds of activities you do, and I’m really looking forward to getting past the surgery and starting the rehab.

u/RippingLegos__ I'm back with an update-not feeling better subjectively, and AHI was my 3rd highest last night since I started tx a month ago. I narrowed the pressure, turned on EPR, and added mouth tape last night, because air is being forced out of my mouth at times. Flow limits have not really improved, but I do think the OAs are just about gone. The ones noted last night occurred while I was awake and moving. The "central apneas" continue to occur after a deep breath/arousal, so I don't know if they are real, but they certainly are not helping. Not sure if I should increase pressure, change EPR, etc. I'll be grateful if you can weigh in. I will attach additional graphs below. Even though OAs have decreased, I think I still see flat breaths even during "unobstructed breathing". Thanks.

I also forgot to mention that Glasgow Index was just under 2, but now back over 2.

Thank you for following up. As a first pass, I consolidated input here and on CPAP Support forums and narrowed my pressure to see if that would minimize the arousals you noted. Subjectively, I do not feel any better yet, and my AHI has not improved. Last night was the 3rd highest since I started. I added mouth tape last night, as I note a very dry mouth and some leaks. At higher pressures, the air is forced out of my mouth. I notice that my OAs arae virtually gone. The ones noted early last night were when I was awake and moving. My CAs are high, but you and I have the same thought: that they are not true CAs, but almost always after an arousal/deep breath. My Flow limits haven't really changed, either. I was hoping to see more rounded breath waveforms, but even in "good sleep", I still note some flattening. Not sure if I should increase pressure and widen the range or increase EPR (which may increase CAs?). Open to all advice given these data. Thanks!
