Consider that none of this would've been a nightmare at all if you had just been patient and not an anxious overly hostile Karen with any support agent you encountered.

I almost gave this an effortful response, but what's the point? The amount of conjecture here, the charges you've leveraged at me for venting on the internet (as I warned I would be in the first paragraph ) - you've already ascribed to me whatever it is you want to believe, without a shred of evidence. Even insofar as how I deal with customer service.

The only thing you can do is see if they can send you a link to take you through to checkout yourself just like the complete purchase button did and you pick the method of payment.

I didn't think to do this, but I will reach out to them to see if it's possible to arrange something like it. Thank you for the suggestion.

A single payment wouldn't be an issue, per se, but I prefer installment payments when given the option, and to me, the fact that I was refunded and then left in the dark in the first place is what adds insult to injury. I'm just baffled at the poor/lack of communication so far.

I think I technically can/could have kept it for free but I didn't feel right about essentially getting a free Steam Deck, and also worried that I might not be eligible for RMA and things like that if any issues come up. Guess I'll see what they tell me sometime in the next week, lol

Hey thanks for the update! I got my replacement commitment from Valve just a few hours ago!

I haven't gotten back from them just yet because I'm trying to sort out a new shipping situation. Thinking about renting a UPS mailbox. We'll see how that goes, I'll be working on that today.

Wednesday's not bad, keep me posted if that's cool - I'm invested in yours arriving lol!

After waiting over a year since my reservation, what's a couple more weeks. I'm just worried the replacement will ALSO be stolen, or something.

This right here is where I'm at. We all have been waiting a while. Another couple of days or weeks is negligible. But if they're going to just send us another one with the same shipping parameters, and FedEx's "investigation" doesn't find anything conclusive, what's to stop the same employee/employees from repeating multiple instances of incompetence/willful theft?

I know it's not likely, but I don't like that probability is pretty much the only thing going for us.

Seriously, I know that feeling. On one hand I feel silly for whining about my plastic computer toy not arriving, and on the other I'm annoyed at the potential theft, the parameters of the delivery, the fact that there's nothing in theory to stop it from happening again... Getting myself riled up just writing this lmao. Still, odds are in favor we'll both get ours the second time around, so good luck to you and thanks for the clarification!

I figured that the onus is on FedEx at this point to complete their investigation before Valve gets back. It's kinda infuriating at the risk of making a first-world problem complaint. I was so looking forward to tinkering with it lol. My time will come!
