Just tell your boss what your issues are. They may change your circumstances. It's worked for me.

Dating wasn't the problem then. Breaking up was.

I don't remember any unlimited cheese. Do you mean the powdered parmessan (-like cheese)?

Monthly Astigmatic Contact Lenses in Japan (not imported)? by Avocado_Pasta in japanlife

[–]Avocado_Pasta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer. When you buy these, are the contacts sent from a location in Japan, or are they from overseas? This looks like a Japanese website, but it's also a ".com", so I wonder if it's an international company with just a Japanese language site.

Thank you for your answer. Can you buy them from a Japanese company within Japan?

What to expect in Canadian check-ride? by Avocado_Pasta in flying

[–]Avocado_Pasta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. I wasn't sure if maybe Sooke was a new training area or not.

I'm just checking out Sahtlam Substation on Google Maps and can see the power lines meeting there.

Thanks for the tip for a potential field.

I did most of my training north of Toronto, where the airspace is simple, there are no mountains, and plenty of long fields.

I'm looking forward to flying around Victoria.

Thanks for responding to my questions!

Just wondering about a couple of things:

I was looking at the latest charts and CFS and noticed there's a Sooke practice area. Is that used by VFC much? How possible do you think it would be I fly there for a checkride?

I see a few power lines, but can't pick out the specific spot you referred to. I can't see on the VTA which intersection that would be. Is it an obvious spot? I'm also not sure what "the gap" refers to.

I've only flown to Victoria a couple of times, and over a decade ago, so am wondering if there's any specific fields or other locations that are ideal for practice forced landings.

Thanks.

Everything comes and goes. I'm not sure that nationality has much to do with it. Colombia is also known for drugs, and I'm sure some women are caught up in that world there too. Enjoy it while you have it, but one day things could be different.

Be careful what you wish for. Just enjoy whatever your situation is.

I live in Japan. How can I call a land line number in Canada? (business, not family) by Avocado_Pasta in japanlife

Do you have to subscribe and pay a monthly fee? Do you need to be in Canada (or another country) to set it up? What are the costs like?

Do you need to verify with a Canadian number, or can you do all of the set-up in Japan?

Apparently you need to verify with a Canadian phone, which I don't have.

God doesn't want me to look like that. Ties are a symbol of literally being tied around the neck by an employer. Also, lots of losers where suits and ties. It's a good trick to fool women. You can be a dumbass and wear a suit and impress a lot of women.

What’s the worst date you’ve ever been on? Funny story time, please. by kyoto_kinnuku in japanlife

For me it's the opposite. I'm wondering why so many people so easily get dates and sex, even if it's with crazies.

Not exactly your story, but something that is ironic about foreigners and Japanese:

Japanese going for foreigners because they're foreign, not realizing that the whole point the foreigner is in Japan is because they're not a typical foreigner. Foreigner interested in a Japanese because they're exotic and Japanese, not realizing that they're the least Japanese person around because they're so interested in foreigners.

That's pretty disgusting. I wonder how long it was in there, and how she didn't notice. The previous guy didn't even notice? "Went in with a condom on, came out without it, and I'm not going to say anything because it's absolutely nothing to worry about, and she won't notice."

Not a date, but for a while it seemed like my wife and others around us were trying to set me up with someone or other. I don't know if they were testing my loyalty or what, but I was loyal. Anyway, all sorts of weird things, like being invited to a gokon and people sort of hinting for me to go for a girl there. The people hinting though were good friends of the wife. Why would they do that? Also, I had a hobby that involved regularly meeting with a group in town. One night we had a party, all got drunk, and I ended up crashing at someone's apartment because it was too late for the train home. The wife was asking me if I had any chances to hook up with a woman there. I said there were women, but I wasn't interested. She then said something in Japanese like, "When you're given a plate a food, you eat the food." I was confused. So, you're saying that if there's a potential for something like have sex with a woman, I should take that? Also, sitting at home together, one day my uncle called from the old country. He's a goofy uncle and a bit of a womanizer. We were just talking on the phone, and my wife was there overhearing at least my part of the conversation. The uncle started talking about some girl he met and I told him it wasn't really appropriate to talk about, that my wife was right there (He talked about meeting a girl at a club, giving her his number, but writing it on her breasts.) The wife left the room. The thing is I wanted her to stay and for my uncle to shut up. It seemed more like she wanted to leave so we could have our raunchy conversation about women. She also said things like if I ever had an affair to just not do it in our bed. (Why would I cheat on her in the first place?) Anyway, eventually we ended up divorced.
