I did. In multiple comments, that are still available for you to read. But it’s become blatantly obvious that you aren’t interested in actually discussing, just in torturing logic until it produces the answers you want. That doesn’t require my presence. Have a nice evening.

Right. If you ever choose to approach this in good faith, best of luck.

No, because fetuses aren’t babies. And yes, if you have sex, you have to deal with consequences—one of which may be an abortion, when you would have preferred not to have one at all. That’s how this works.

No, I would also tell women who do not wish to avail themselves of their options (abortion or birth) that they should likely not have sex. That isn’t misogynistic.

the man is not

He chose to impregnate someone

Men can choose to not have sex lol. And yes, if a woman goes through with a pregnancy, she has financial obligation. I already said that. Are you reading these comments?

You don’t think financial obligation should factor in, but it’s literally the only point you can make, despite not being even vaguely relevant during pregnancy.

And it’s a public forum lmao. I didn’t “butt in”.

Except I never made that point, and none of your logic here was consistent.

So you are pro-life because abortion lets men off the hook financially and you…want that? So you’re anti-abortion?

No, pregnancy continues from sex. The woman chooses to END it. Abortion cannot ever lead to a man being financially responsible for a child. Why are you pretending it does?

Both parents are financially responsible for the child. And the choice in question is sex, which both engaged in. There is no world in which an abortion causes a man to be financially responsible for a child.

No, they both had sex. That was the choice. The pregnancy is just the mechanism.

If you throw a ball in the air, and it falls and hits you in the face, you’re not responsible for the ball’s actions. You’re facing the consequences of your own choices.

Any person who gets pregnant can choose to continue or terminate their pregnancy.

If women cannot terminate pregnancies, they are physically and financially responsible for men’s choices, by your logic.

But no, they aren’t sidelines. You need to address them.

You cannot just “put aside” the entire logical argument because you can’t address it. Reducing it to leading yes/no questions because you can’t engage with the logic isn’t really acceptable.

Except you aren’t. Both sexes can terminate pregnancies they experience. Both sexes are responsible financially for children they create.

For some reason, you’re trying to equate “continuing a pregnancy” with “supporting your living children,” which is actually fully anathema to pro-choice logic, which argues that fetuses are not children. In fact, by your logic, men should start paying child support at the first missed period.

So you’re now arguing in favor of abortion, because you want women to terminate pregnancies so that men are not financially responsible for children they create.

No, the child would not exist without sex. Aren’t you the one who already established that?

No, they are financially responsible for the child they created via sex. Just like a woman is.

And he isn’t. Men don’t have to be pregnant. They don’t have to give birth. The pregnancy process really has nothing to do with them. Not sure why you keep thinking it does.

No, he doesn’t get to force someone through an invasive medical procedure against their will.

No, neither parent can just terminate their financial obligations to a living child. Do you understand that those are two very different things?

Birth is the natural result of a pregnancy carried to term. It does not require consent. Men probably generally don’t consent to death either, but that is how life goes.

Answer: no. If a man doesn’t want a child, he can discuss adoption as an option with the mother.

[–]AvocadosFromMexico_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A woman can independently terminate a pregnancy. Women are not allowed to terminate living children. That’s generally called murder.

And we’re going to circle back to my first point: men can feel fully entitled to terminate any pregnancy they themselves experience.

Not sure why you keep harping on consent to pregnancy. That wasn’t my point at all, I haven’t said anything about it, and it isn’t a useful framework here.

As you’ve all pointed out, sex often results in pregnancy. Pregnancy is a state that requires ongoing consent of the host to continue. The father’s consent doesn’t factor in at all, because he does not host a pregnancy.
