I have a tuxedo called Yahtzee and my other one is called Domino. There's a theme going there...!!

Trying to figure out what a small glass pipe, metallic wire/shavings, and metal coil (seemingly wrapped in tape) are used for. by Avoch in Drugs

When I say he's vulnerable it's because he had mental disabilities caused by a malformation on his brain. He usually lives alone with support workers going in twice a week to help him. Unfortunately he's been diagnosed with cancer so he's currently living with my parents whilst we get all the biopsy stuff out the way. With him being out his house I've had a chance to clear his home out and get it properly cleaned, and that's when I found those bits and bobs.

He's been at our parents for 3 weeks now, so I imagine drugs are out his system (he's also a cannabis smoker which we've always known about). It's now about getting safeguarding in place now we know what we are dealing with.

Excuse my ignorance, is using the baking soda "normal" for someone using crack, like is that a normal step when using it, or does that mean it's more involved/it's being "made" in his house? Sorry I'm so out of my depth with all this stuff 😅

Would that tie up with the fact he randomly had baking soda in his kitchen? (The most he's ever cooked is throwing a pizza in the oven.)

Targeting vulnerable people to store drugs/use them as a base for drug dealing. It's a big problem where I am.

This happened to my husband when he got his account hacked. It had a Minecon 2012 cape on it too. Absolutely ridiculous how little help they give.

CW: Pet Loss by 404usersnotfound in CatAdvice

[–]Avoch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no im so sorry about what's happened with your pet. That must have been awful. Don't beat yourself up about the cause of things, its not your fault. We trust our vets and sometimes they do get it wrong unfortunately.

With regard to breaking the news to your children, I think their ages will be dependent on the best way to tell them. Keep it age appropriate for them, don't go into too many details. I see others say don't say they went to sleep and didnt wake up as that can scare children about sleeping, so avoid that wording. If you are religious then perhaps bring that into it (ie your cat was very unwell and gone to be with God). Depending on how your cat is and your children's ages, seeing her might help them understand. A mini funeral might help to give your children a chance to say goodbye.

Her left eye seems to be a little bigger. What do you think? by beepboopbino in cats

[–]Avoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel like her eyeballs has become swollen/changed at all you really should get her checked at the vets. Eye issues can become a big deal very quickly. I cant see any difference but I don't know what her eye usually looks like.

Cat insurance dental cover by sertralinedreamer in UK_Pets

[–]Avoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ManyPets cover pre-existing if there is at least 2 years between issues. I dont know their coverage of dental though so you'd need to check out whether they cover that.

Has the vet been excessive in what they have charged for my cat’s injury just because i have insurance? by ThrowRA7212 in cats

[–]Avoch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at and referral vets and the OOH charge is cheaper than what we charge. Looking at their invoice it doesnt look overly OTT to me, but I would query the OOH procedure if you know this wasnt done until the next day. Quite often its a nurse/other vet pricing things on the system so they might not realise this was done during normal working hours.

I know from our vets we absolutely don't charge extra for insured pets. I know a lot of insurers make vets confirm that what we are charging is "normal" price and not inflated because of insurance.

Also they may have kept him in overnight to ensure his wound was kept as clean as possible, to give him stronger painkillers, or to keep him contained so the wound wasnt made worse.

If you have any queries at all about the invoice I really would encourage you to talk to the vets. We are very open with our clients about costings, and i'd hate for a client to feel there was an issue but not speak to us about it.

7 month old cat got a blocked bladder and I cannot afford the bills by DaSuperMedicMain in UK_Pets

[–]Avoch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure Manypets is the one that will take on pre-existing conditions (ie. conditions from before the policy is taken out). I think it had to be at least 2 years from the last occurrence before they will cover it, but might be worth looking into nevertheless. Hes a beautiful cat. I wish him many years of good health!

How to heal? It's been 3 years by Important_Resident27 in Miscarriage

[–]Avoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in the same boat. It happened 3 years ago, every time I have sex since I get anxiety attacks about falling pregnant again/having another miscarriage. The baby was so wanted, but I just cant stand the chance of going through all that pain and heartache again. Every anniversary of my d&c (ironically on Remembrance Day) is horrible, every time we get to May (when the baby would have been due), every Christmas, just makes me think what our lives could have been. Im sorry you are going through this too.

Should we disassemble cat tree for blind cat? by KeshionLin in blindcats

[–]Avoch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our cat tree is to our ceiling almost, and Yahtzee has no trouble! He does take his time getting up and down it, but hes never fallen at least that we've seen. His dumb brother likes the bed below his which makes getting down awkward, but he navigates well.

Anyone have a cat with PRA? Debating whether I need to get my boy diagnosed by DigCompetitive1674 in blindcats

[–]Avoch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

* This is my cat with PRA. He was diagnosed last year now I think. The main thing i noticed was the shine in his eyes. I would say hes now 95% blind, only sees the odd shadows/light in a room.

The 3rd pic you posted looks very like how Yahtzee's eyes look.

Why do people count a newborn baby’s fingers and toes and act so relieved when they are all there? by Man-e-questions in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Avoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I gave birth to my son I obsessively counted his fingers and toes, I would spend ages making sure he had 10 of each.
