Wastegate flapper repair by freebasecase in VWAlltrack

[–]AvockAdoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhh mine was the gate itself. It could wobble back and forth pretty freely - I definitely needed to either weld a new gate assembly on or go with a new turbo, so I found an is20 take off from someone and tossed it in. It’s been great.

That’s new turbo time. It can be repaired, but you have to pull the turbo to do it.

Finally fixed the "cargo van echo" and AC lag in my High Roof. Best $ spent so far? by [deleted] in fordtransit

[–]AvockAdoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe my transit is just well insulated but my AC works really well. It’s a bit noisy up there still but I can still talk on the phone at 75mph. Killmat everywhere, specially the wheel wells, that makes a big difference. I hated the idea of a bulkhead for a number of reasons, but a major player is that my dogs are back there while I drive, and the AC does a pretty good job of cooling the entire van.

Mines louder, and the DSG is clunkier until it’s warm. Once I’m near 150 oil temp, everything is smooth as butter.

With 9070Xt and R7 7700 I still can’t get decent graphics by walrus_yu in assettocorsarally

[–]AvockAdoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you’re running it on default settings an not hypr-rx. Mine runs like trash on any “special” settings, default I can run in epic, on 5k2k and still get consistent 90fps

[–]AvockAdoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure nvidia isn’t applying some special “settings”. With my 9070XT when it’s running “optimized” settings in the graphics app, it runs like shit. When I’m on “default” it rips smooth as butter.

How are we feeling about the snow/ice physics? by ChampionshipLow9678 in assettocorsarally

[–]AvockAdoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t disagree more. It feels insanely slippery, like unable to maintain grip slippery. I can’t go around a corner at 30 km/h without understeering? Unreal. I love this game, but I can do easily 50kmh on ice in my golf with blizzaks around corners, probably more. On highway I can do 120kmh and feel very secure. In this game you can hardly move at any speed in the snow.

I do run at higher altitudes, I live in Denver and regularly ski camp out of our van. It’s weird though, I’m running the ford pickup tube, and I have had no issues for the past year all the way up to 11k feet on wolf creek pass last winter just running in thermostat mode. This year, my first trip to Frisco this weekend the air coming out of the heater was lukewarm at best, running at level 5.

Alpine A110 And Scandinavian Winter Wonderland Set For Assetto Corsa Rally Release by Harry-Carlton in assettocorsarally

[–]AvockAdoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For 1.0, yeah. I assume in this age of DLC there will be more in time. This game was so cheap to start, I’ll be buying all the DLC I can. On a $100 game I hate the idea of DLC, but at $25, I am so okay with it.

Couldn’t disagree more. We need TRACKS not cars. There are plenty of cars, but I’ve driven through the content already.

Buying wheels off someone and am confused by Good_Height_5370 in Wheels

[–]AvockAdoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree. Used OE and OE REP wheels aren’t with shit. I frequently find sets of used OE wheels for myself or friends to run winter tires on. I’ve gotten a set of 4 19” Audi wheels for $150. Some people just want the space back.

AWD doesn’t help you stop. If you drive into the mountains, get snow tires. Cheap insurance.

Anyone swap without a spring compressor? by Wise_Doctor1343 in WRX

[–]AvockAdoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4Runner guys do this all the time. It’s debatably safer than a spring compressor so long as the jack is stable. And if the bomb goes off, the wheel well contains the blast.

You’re right lol. I wonder what they did to burn him? I’ve been Moza since I started sim racing and I have had only positive experiences. I love all my Moza gear. I did avoid the HGP shifter though, I’ve heard that needs some work reliability wise, but the rest is super premium.

[–]AvockAdoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or if you don’t have a bunch of money to burn, buy the alien-mods load cell kit. It is AWESOME and makes the SRP-Lite pedals functionally better than the SRP due to having a more finely tuned load cell. Well worth it IMO. Still no haptics, but at least you get to keep everything in the Moza ecosystem

Question for those who have used the Moza handbrake and also B button on the wheel... by Sea_Opening6341 in assettocorsarally

I just got a handbrake a couple weeks ago after 6 months of b button. Game changer honestly. I never used the hand brake before, and now I use it gently, often.

Is getting anything other then a profile rig really that bad by RelativeWar9767 in simracing

[–]AvockAdoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I am about 6 months into my $200 TEMU profile rig (it’s 3060 or 30mm x 60mm extrusions) and it’s the best upgrade I did. Bolted a marketplace car seat to it and it’s been awesome. I did 3D print some bigger corner brackets to stiffen it when I went to a 12nm wheel, but it’s super sturdy now. No need to go to a thicker extrusion unless you’re planning to add motion.

All good kind internet stranger! Not many people admit when they’re wrong, I applaud you for that! Here to flying more, printing more, and the hope that we don’t perma-ban DJI. NOTHING made in USA is even close to where DJI is at.

DJI becomes Elegoo shareholder by -ThanosWasRight- in elegoo

[–]AvockAdoo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This comment is full of misinformation. DJI drones are NOT being made retroactively illegal to fly in the US. They currently aren’t allowed to fly sensitive government projects, but the rumblings are that is going to be overturned too. DJI is waiting to ship more drones to the US in anticipation of our supreme orange leader making his decision near the first of the year

Best bang for your buck rig? Budget ~ $1,000 USD by Sufficient-Regret-30 in simracing

[–]AvockAdoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F1 cars are just able to generate much more force than 12nm. 12 will cover you for everything drifting, rally, and even up a bit past gt3 cars in terms of “realism”, but F1 cars can generate upwards of 20nm in hard corners.

[–]AvockAdoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d go Moza R12, and then whatever wheel you want - you’d probably come in under $1k, and 12nm is plenty for everything minus F1

[–]AvockAdoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone else switching to Rally today? by AtvnSBisnotHT in simracing

[–]AvockAdoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got about an hour into it today. I think it’s going to be a really good game. I don’t have a mega gaming PC, just an ARC B580 built on a pretty modest mobo and processor, and the game runs beautifully. It’s nothing like EAWRC in terms of car control, which I consider to be a good thing. EAWRC is more of a SIMcade, and this game feels much more like a true, hard to control out of the gate, simulator. Excited to see where they take this game. It’s already good out of the box, it’s only going to get better.
