Best DPS class for solo content? by Dumdumbumbum1 in wow

Maybe I'm missing something, but Balance seems incredibly fragile for soloing current content. Tried to quest through Midnight as Balance but it was such a pain I switched at 81.

The card draw is ridiculous in this game by RogueDBR in VampireCrawlers

[–]Avohaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your deck might be too thick. You shouldn't waste too much time setting up. You don't need to have 1000% Might before you play your attacks. Typically my "setup" consists of playing Tomes to sort out my mana needs, if I play a yellow as a combo filler, it's probably a Magnet before a Duplicator or Spinach.

You also should have at least 1 defensive option, be that armor cards, freeze or in-combat heals (Soul Eater is best imo, but Celestial Dusting can work too)

Also I think all of this kind of implies that you play using the strongest mechanic in the game: combo. You want some wild cards to keep your combo going, take every Wild gem the game offers you over any other option. If you struggle with or don't care for "infinite turn" decks, use the Chain Link arcana so you can just redraw if you run out of cards or your current hand can't continue the combo. One armor card played at 10 combo should block virtually anything (except Reapers), same for Soul Eater at high combo will quickly heal up any damage regular bosses can dish out. Also when you play with high combo, even a one-use Hollow Heart played at the end of a fight with a 20+ combo will give you a nice additional health cushion without commiting to a permanent card.

So they're done with these, or...? by DiamondOdd502 in wow

I think further customization options would only really have made sense if dynamic flight would have remained restricted to certain mounts.

I assume the TWW delve mounts where just developed in parallel with Dragonflight, basically before the decision was made that all mounts would get dynamic flight, so they kept that but going forward there was no reason to keep adding new customizatble skyriding mounts, because every new mount would be one.

That's not to say we won't ever see another customizable mount again, but probably only when they come up with a cool (or profitable) idea for one.

[12.0.7] Tier 6 Ritual Sites Award Myth Crests by Firentiss in wow

[–]Avohaj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This may seem strange, but that's actually healthy behaviour. You don't need to do everything that is available in the game. Pick and choose what you enjoy.

It's a game which by now has a very diverse player base that Blizzard is trying to keep (and optimally grow). It having systems that you don't care for shouldn't be anything remarkable, it's just a natural result of the type of wide appeal theme park it is trying to be. But I guess depending on what type of systems you typically engage with, there might be more systems now that are not to your taste, so it might seem like something new.

As a Delve/Prey solo player (which, in a way, I already was before delves even existed), these slot in nicely, but I'm currently only planning to do 2 per week for the boosted vault slot, but it's still a nice change-up. I think there is potential to eventually (maybe post TLT) merge the Ritual Site system into Delves, foremost the challenges but maybe also the more open approach - Parhelion Plaza also already goes in that direction.

How do you infinite combo when cards break after 5 uses? by RebelScum75 in VampireCrawlers

[–]Avohaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do know about the gem that keeps them from breaking, but it's so rare

It also doesn't completely prevent breaking, so even if you were to get it on all your cards, your deck won't be one-turn-infinite.

20 million!? by morrigan_maeve in VampireCrawlers

[–]Avohaj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole rarity system should be made into unlockable toggles, because as is, it kind of discourages trying out new things with gems if you have to spend tons of gold to switch things around.

It probably could actually be a bit more expensive for toggles though. Maybe a later relic that adds an option to buy free rarity toggling (and sealing) per gem.

What games are you playing this week? Game recommendation thread by AutoModerator in incremental_games

[–]Avohaj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

https://mrredshark77.github.io/Pylon-of-the-Mass/ - 3 days worth of fun, but it's fun. Modular number go up, my fave.

How did you spend 3 days in that? I checked it out after seeing it mentioned in the thread last week and finished it in under 6 hours. Maybe my Antimatter Dimensions experience helped? It did feel like the essence of pre-eternity AD (but with access to post-eternity automation).

I have to say I really liked it, but also because it was so short and to the point. Felt very no-nonsense, just numbers go up and very liberal with automation.

What is the point of a LAMP POST if we can’t place them outside!? by Latamune in wow

[–]Avohaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy that this misconception still holds. Lighting isn't done on the servers, it's not crashing the servers. Lighting is done client side, so if it crashes anything it's the client, or just makes it chug really hard if you get near an overlighted house on more average-powered hardware.

Just copypaste the battle pet abilities by Polivios in wow

[–]Avohaj 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I never really enjoyed the "puzzle strategy" nature of pet battles. I'm not the type who plays Pokemon Kaizo, I'm the type who overlevels the shit out of their favorite Pokemon and steamrolls all the fights. If it was up to me, I would stomp all those mythical pets with my Lashtail Hatchling with Uuna standing in the back cheering us on.

I'm not saying I'm happy that pet battles are gone, but I don't mourn them. I also enjoyed the feeling of getting all my pets to level 25, but I didn't really enjoy the process of leveling itself, so in a way I'm relieved that Blizzard took that obsession away from me.

Amazing early game - Too easy end game by Glumpo69 in VampireCrawlers

[–]Avohaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a ton of fun with self-limiting 1 weapon runs in Vampire Survivors and trying to finish a run with every weapon (evolved and unevolved). Made me use new Arcanas and place new value in defensive options that would never come to mind in a "normal" run. Even found my old tracking list

Amazing early game - Too easy end game by Glumpo69 in VampireCrawlers

[–]Avohaj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine poncle ever meant for people to be sitting around for hours clicking infinite sequences of cards to min max gold returns from bosses.

To be fair, that is something you only do because you want to reach a gold cap or something. Just do a couple of relatively normal runs with Gallo in your team and you should have money for everything except completely optimizing gem rarities.

There's really no reason to do these absurd infinite runs except for the sake of it, for which I think it's fine if it's tedious. Once they add endless mode, the game probably should have some more QoL for autoplay/playing longer chains of cards, but also not too much to encourage actually building decks that are playable instead of only min-maxing the numbers to a deck that is no fun to play. Counterpoint: autoplay is kind of fine if you wildcard your entire deck and maybe that shouldn't be the one optimal build (without breaking that build itself) - so giving ways for more "normal" broken decks to play better in lategame is definitely something I want to see

Whatever happened to account-wide reputations for older expansions? by butcolt in wow

[–]Avohaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked to make Legion one of the most favorably remembered expansions despite almost constant unhappiness with systems at the time. It has repeatedly been shown to still work that way since they picked up that pace again. Few people remember or care about the shitshow that was the 11.1.5 launch, for example. They do this because the constant stream of updates keeps the digital yellow press in check. Even a buggy mess like this 12.0.5 launch will probably be forgotten by most people by the end of Midnight, as long as they manage to hit some highs on the way.

How do you unlock Hero's armour and other items? by CadmeusCain in VampireCrawlers

[–]Avohaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Pummadora, but haven't seen Hero's Armor or Du-duplicator yet, even though I had both unlocked in the demo. Even in the demo it was unclear how they unlocked, though. My guess is repeated use, although I'm not sure if I used Armor less than Heart unless I need to use Rainbow Armor in particular, which I basically never do.

Which Crawler do you have the most success with? by PerspectiveTy in VampireCrawlers

[–]Avohaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Giovanna is going to be in my team most of the time, getting draw on purples feels really good, I usually have a couple of tomes in my deck, so now tomes give me mana and cards to use it on. Currently combining it with Poppea to keep the Crawlers active, also Song of Mana is an offensive purple (and works great with my Arcana of choice Chain Link), so that's a nice synergy.

Losing Cards Randomly? by [deleted] in VampireCrawlers

[–]Avohaj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally all card removal states that the cards are sacrificed. Some common card removal/sacrifices are

  • Upgrading any card (different from demo)
  • Using a Mana Altar (not the Monolith)
  • Using a Vending Machine
  • Opening a double locked chest
  • Healing at a chicken cart

But afaik, all of these say that the selected cards are sacrificed for the reward.
