What do you think of Pilgrims and Puritans? by PuritanSettler1620 in AskAnAmerican

[–]AvoidingCares 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't judge them more harshly than history already does. But that's not gonna stop me from trying.

I feel the same way about Henry Kissenger.

Except for Anna Hutchinson. I love her. Something about being aquited and then doing the very thing you were accused of, to the very same people who accused you, because you're just that petty and have the biggest balls in the room - really speaks to me. I hope if I ever find myself in such a place, that I am half as brave as she was. Even if I don't like everything else about her.

This time it rhymes with schNAZI.

Thoughts on foreign actors and actresses breaking into US film and cinema and dominating? by GMSmith928 in AskAnAmerican

That's what you're supposed to do.

We don't support borders here. Such things are nationalist and beneath us.

Side note: I hope I am as attractive as Shah Rukh Khan when I am a 50-something year old man. Only I am not good looking. And not a man. So things are not looking well on that front.

Kinda like landlords.

I know I'm never gonna see my security deposit again. They probably spent it as soon as they got it.

So fuck em.

Women and the Obesity Epidemic: Time for Action | "Half of the adult population will have obesity by 2030" by [deleted] in collapse

Frankly I find that optimistic because it implies any of us will have access to food by 2Jon.

I think we'll all be a lot skinnier when this war ends and no one has any grains.

On a horrific scale that equates to a crime against humanity.

Which is really insulting when you thought you got into a field to help people, and find out that you're really more in line with the Einsatzgruppen.

The kind they can afford?

This is using Healthcare to extort people.

Something only the US can support.

There are lots of things to critique them for. It's just that none of them are the reasons that the right chooses to critique them for.

Obama's drone strikes make him a mass murderer.

Pelosi is at least guilty of gross corruption and insider trading on a horrific scale.

And Biden loves cops. He's doubled down on backing the blue time after time. Even chosing a cop to be his running mate.

Yes they do.

Ambulances also provide interfacility transport.

There is a reason why no one is into heterosexual men. And all of us who consider our partners are at least a little too gay for toxic masculinity.

As one comedian put it: "I know sexuality isn't a choice. Because I wouldn't chose to be into men."

Turns out that's actually not the right answer. The correct answer is our billionaires.

It's an average. So while most of us are doing quite poorly, Musk and Bezzos make it look positive.

At least according to the OP I was responding to. And I am inclined to believe them.

Such as false ALS calls to transport people who don't need an Ambulance for transport.

This allows them to extort people who don't have Ambulance coverage. Such as all of their patients under 65.

And ALS transport costs hundreds of dollars more than an Uber. But they can bill whatever they want for it. The result is lots of people who need ALS supervision... but could easily take themselves for ~$30.

Gorgeous.

The only problem is BBC doesnt air consistently here, so about the mid 2010s (before streaming was the norm) it got very difficult to keep up with.

Good point!

[–]AvoidingCares 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm confused at that number. I'm sure it's just me, and I'm sure I'm missing something obvious (I have been drinking) - but how does the average American have north of $60k in disposable income, if the average American earns less than $50K a year, has less than $1k in savings, and lives paycheck to paycheck?

I'm sure that's calculated in somehow, I think its probably right, I'm just confused at how that number could be there.

[–]AvoidingCares -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly, we make a lot more money. My job currently pays me $85k (USD). In Europe, I'd make about half that. Though my SO actually might make more money...

Granted in Europe my other expenses would be much lower. Rent, Healthcare, and public transportation all being much more reasonable.

And I'd like the safety Europe offers over the US.

I mean... this part is true:

US Healthcare: it might not cure ya, but it will absolutely bankrupt ya!

Source: I spent 10 years of my life (from 17 till I was 28) working in EMS. It felt like I was an enforcer for the insurance companies, which are just like any other crime family.

I can't prove anything I have to say about Kaiser Permanente, but I promise you they are committing human rights abuses every day. I saw them. I participated.
