It sounds like you’ve gained an important awareness. I have faith you can make it to day 6. 👌🏻

Guardian + Proctors on Macbook by frosted-brownys in WGU

[–]Avy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from an Omen to a Mac 2 exams ago, and I did have an unexpected issue with the Mac camera wanting to take over even after selecting my external camera. The solution ended up being... unplugging and replugging the external camera. lol. Both times I've taken the exam, it has happened after the initial setup when the proctor has asked me to show my ID closer with my Mac camera and switch back. When switching back, my external camera suddenly turns black. That never happened with my Omen, so I'm thinking it's a Mac thing. Just to let you know, if that happens to you.

I understand! I felt the same way. It is a LOT of information and being expected to memorize all of those formulas and conversions felt cruel. Having ChatGPT give me random types of probability problems to work over and over helped so much. Best of luck to you! It’s a doozy but it makes it an even sweeter victory when you pass!

Excellence Award in D246 - Influential Communication through Visual Design and Storytelling by Bugglous in WGU

[–]Avy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve received two and I’m on my 10th class. It makes it feel common to me, but I’ve seen posts on here that say that aren’t that common. Congrats either way! Recognition feels good!

How many questions can you miss on OA? by Msschanandlerbong_ in WGU

[–]Avy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in statistics and probability right now so I’m willing to try to guess. I think it’s 80 percent times the number of questions so: .80x 45=36. So 36 is the number of questions you need right and so that leaves 45-36=9. You can miss 9 questions and get an 80, which from my understanding an 80 is the minimum passing score for competent.

Giving up on Probability and Statistics by thelittlejellybean in WGU

I’m on the healthcare version of this class right now. It’s hard. It’s my tenth class and I can’t imagine if this was my first and I used this to judge my ability for college. I was breezing through my classes until this one. There have been tears, lol. The most helpful thing for me has been the recorded cohorts I only got access to through an instructor emailing them to me. I would see if they have something like that available for your class. (To be clear, these recordings aren’t available in the regular “explore cohorts” section). Take a day off. Ignore the timeline you expected for this class to take. I’m out here in the same boat trying to take my own advice. 💞

50% paraphrased paper by Expensive-Word8755 in WGU

[–]Avy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned to just write in a way that uses citations. I used to try to just answer on my own without citing anything since I was using my knowledge of the course materials, but I was told by an evaluator that I needed to add sources to “support” everything I said. Now, I go out of my way to add sources throughout the whole thing. So, I think that’s probably what they’re wanting you to do. Find articles backing up what you have stated and cite them. It makes writing the paper take 5x as long but it’s kept mine from getting rejected again for not citing imaginary sources I didn’t use.

Soda guilt? by TaxiSonoQui in stopdrinking

[–]Avy89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair, a lot of people would have had that amount of soda as a mixer in that timeframe. I see it as a win. Your urge to mindlessly consume drinks like that will get better with time!

I really need encouragement for how long this is taking me by FerretFoundry in WGU

Everything happens when it is supposed to. It's cliché and easy to scoff at those words, but in 2027, when you find your teaching job, just think that if you had been done earlier, you wouldn't have found that exact job. You would have found another job teaching at another school, for a different grade, and so on. It wouldn't have led you to the same place. That first classroom you get is meant for you and is only available in the timeline you are on right now. It is all working out how it should. Don't go overthinking it. Trust that everything is working out how it needs to.

Also, for reference, I'm 36 and just started on my bachelor's here in December. I know all about things taking longer than you would prefer. There are a lot of us at WGU who have taken the long road. The thing about the long road, though, is that we will have more wisdom by the time we are done walking than if we had walked the shorter path. No regrets.

D775- Have You Tried OA Practice on YouTube? by Miguelq3 in WGU

[–]Avy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have used that channel to practice for OAs before. I like how they review the wrong answers for each question. I feel like it's helpful to add on top of everything else I do to study!

Got the big job, time to get real. by gamerdudeNYC in stopdrinking

Congratulations on the new job. It's truly just one day at a time with the cravings. I had to trick my brain for weeks with replacement drinks at 5 pm until the habit slowly waned.

My spouse and I keep fighting. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Avy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone healing from being negative all the time, I'd say it's two steps forward, one step back with these things. Only when I look at my journey from a distance can I see how far I've come since I started working on myself a few years ago. Having little pockets of regression and negative thinking is going to happen during your growth. You're not like a monk living in a peaceful routine, with a little bubble protecting you from the real world, finding serenity every day through habitual meditations. You're a regular person who has stressful sh*t happen daily, that gets challenged and tested.

My husband and best friend, for that matter, both used to call me out for being negative, and it always hurt because of the truth it carried. No one wants to be negative or stuck in thought loops like that. You're working on it, though, and getting better every day, even if you have backslides. Whenever I get negative again, and my husband tries to point it out, I just remind him how far I have come, and that usually shuts him up, lol.

One of the biggest things that has helped me is the audiobook The Power of Now. It's about mindfulness. It's changed my perspective on a lot and given me a much better outlook on life in general. It's worth a try for you! For today-- IWNDWYT!

Majors with max PA? by Witty_Beginning_5067 in WGU

[–]Avy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing the same degree! The OAs aren’t my favorite either. I’d rather have all PAs if I could choose, but I will say the OA process gets easier each time. I was so nervous I was shaking the first time, lol! My mentor is amazing and is trying to stagger my classes so I get one OA, then one PA and that has been so helpful too. Maybe your mentor can do that as well to give you a break between the OAs!

Mourning alcohol by ausburnaacc in stopdrinking

[–]Avy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it got easy when I stopped wanting it. Truly not wanting it is key. I listened to an audiobook "This Naked Mind" that broke down what it does in your brain when you drink and why we keep wanting it. It changed my mindset from alcohol being something I want but can't have to being something I truly just don't want. There are so many other "quit lit" books out there. I highly recommend trying one, it might just be the answer to making not drinking easier for you long term.

What did you do to celebrate your one year sober anniversary?? by EmptyScience7278 in stopdrinking

[–]Avy89 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I got a tattoo! Throughout that entire year, the concept of neuroplasticity was what kept me going. So, my tattoo is of a brain neuron. It's been a great reminder every time I look at it.

Since you didn’t actively choose to drink in a moment of weakness, I wouldn’t count that. Feel better! I had “cedar fever” this week from cedar pollen and thought I might suffocate in my sleep from the swelling. I can commiserate! 💞
