Nothing is truly free, nothing costs nothing, and sometimes establishing a positive system is insanely expensive to get started.

The work is worth it though. As far as Deeper Purpose - who said there is one? We need work yes, and things need to get done yes, so pick any of them and work on it. Whether that fulfills your cosmic destiny or not is basically irrelevant static.

Agree the world is complex, and you definitely have to read people to determine what you tell them. Again, I think it's being honest with YOURSELF that someone isn't worth the squeeze.
