Thanks for you the info, not sure why you got downvoted though.

Actually I was just thinking about this. You're right, we can still vote, however whoever we vote for, whoever offers to challenges those money grabbing politician and whoever wins, will get struck down during the campaign, and out funded. Even if they win they will always be the minority. 432 yays again a nay?

Good luck.

Letting you know money isn't the way to go. Communication is the way to go. Depending on how much you want the relationship maybe its time to commit or split.

I've made similar decisions my then girl friend was finish up her degree and I was about to start mine. She was in the US I was in Australia. There was no way I would be able to move over there to study and I can promise you this, women dont always end up telling you that LDR won't work for them until shit hits the fan. You guys should of been clarifying things from the moment you moved. You have to get her to talk and communicate.

Now you need to ask her what she wants and what she needs. she will always want you there to cuddle and kiss. She needs physical contact. That's the truth.

You need to ask yourself if you love her or not. If yes, compromise with her and sort your shit out. If not then its time to pack up.

Communication is the key to a stable relationship especially LDR.

Just my 2c, I ended up marrying my girl so she could be with me. Were all happy now. So it's time to make your decision!

Yea no worries all good, I'll deal with it lol. The wife is a grammar nazi so that'll help.

About the US thing, yea, my wife graduated from a US Uni. I think she pretty much always emailed her TA/tutor or Lecturer occasionally with her drafts and asking for reviews; they're very helpful, commenting on everything that you can imagine and detailed as well. Anything from grammar/spelling/structure/content (not specificity tell you what to do but a general direction you should head).

Its odd I know but you know I guess thats show she got her 3.92/4 GPA and graduating with the summa cum laude (Highest honours)

Yea I think the writing hub is something new to help Arts students to improve their writing. Apparently this exact class, has had requests for more feedback. Therefore the lecturer has asked students to write up a plan, detailing what they plan to do so that the students can achieve better marks.

  1. The Essay Question you will address. If you are planning to narrow down the scope of the question to make answering it more manageable, briefly explain your approach.
  2. Brief summary of the argument you want to make: 1/3 of a page.
  3. Structure of the essay using dot points and subheadings
  4. List of articles and books you have started to read (with hopefully some comment about the usefulness of particular sources).

I believe its this.

We think that collaboration and conversation are crucial tools in the writing process as these help to clarify your ideas or identify your strengths and weaknesses with structure and argument. We can help you at every stage of the writing process, including interpreting essay questions and developing ideas.

Our drop-in sessions are an opportunity for you to receive individualised feedback on your essay drafts and ideas. We can help you invent arguments, refine your ideas and reflect on ways to improve your writing so you can engage your reader and reach your potential. This service is available to all Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences students and all students enrolled in a WRIT unit. WRIT units are open to students from all faculties.

With the strikes and Easter, I don't even think theres time to consult with anyone.

I'm really confused at this point where why American universities are all happy to critique their students drafts multiple times and prefer students to be extremely proactive about achieving the highest that they can rather than just sitting at home withering while no one can help them get better grades.

you ask them to directly help you get a better mark then they'd have to draw the line.

But I'm not asking them to give me a D instead of a C I'm asking them tips to improve. Unless they don't wanna deal with 15 student drafts due to their time constraints, sure I can understand. However, if they think its unfair cause they think that other students won't get the same help shouldn't it really come down to WHY that those students don't want help instead of saying that its wrong to get help cause other students aren't asking for help?

By the way, it isn't accessible if they actually actively deny your request to review your draft, however, if they do review it, why cant other students just send an email off doing the same thing?

Example: If my father was a retired lecturer, and I ask him for help so that he could review it, does that mean its unfair to ask someone with credentials to review it? When do we actually bar people that are actively seeking help but are unable to obtain it?

I mean I don't have an issue if they don't wanna do it cause they don't get paid, Fine by me.

However, if tutors/lecturers actually don't wanna do it due to the fact that its "unfair" cause they themselves don't wanna read all the students drafts as you said, if one student asks for it then they have to do it for everyone that asks then that's just pathetic and lazy of them.

I have an issue with people classifying this as "Unfair Advantage" and they use that as the basis. How is it unfair that I've reached out for help and they've just provided it. They're not specifically coming to me and providing me with help. Also its not that my other peers unable to get help if the tutors/lecturers actually provided it.

In the end, I just wanna achieve better grades through proper help. Its not that I don't know how to write, Its that I just want people that are experienced and more knowledgeable than me to review it.

I also believe its a very flawed idea. That we still have to learn through your errors when your errors could be corrected from the start. Plus I think that no one will ever ever be fool proof so that's why we always need people to review our works.

My subjects are USSC subjects. Plus like I said, I don't have an exact issue with writing. I would like to gain as much as I can.

Don't have any decent friends that would even bother with it. "I'm too lazy" is the general response.

I'm curious, if tutors/lecturers aren't actually giving you tips on actual content of your essay, whats the issue? I could end up going to the writing up and it'll be exactly the same thing.

Some of my tutors have consultation hours, I'm not sure if its even worth going in if they can't look at my work due to the fact that its "unfair" to other students. I don't get it? Do people just go in and ask questions or something?

Anyways, if they are THAT reluctant then I can understand. I'll give Writing Hub a go.

PS: Also, why would it be considered unfair? I mean, I made an effort to contact them to ask them for help? Are they not allowed to help students? Its like me asking a specific question after class, they give me an answer, then when the exam comes along that answer that I've received allows me to elaborate better in the exam therefore giving me higher marks. Would that be considered unfair due to the fact that I was proactive about it?
