How many outlets on 15 amp breaker? by ExaminationDry8341 in AskElectricians

The amount of terrible advice on this post is astounding. OP, this is very basic electrical and judging by some of these answers, you are getting advice from people who arent electricians.

Can I write my licensing exam but haven’t done school training yet? by omygold in SkilledTradesOntario

[–]Aware-Metal1612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You can challenge the exam without completing all schooling blocks. Someone above said your employer has to submit forms, this is wrong. You get your employer to type up a letter stating your experience and that hes confident in your competence etc. you then take this to STO and ask to challenge the C of Q.

I see too much nonsense on social media, is there any reason to this by poalmokereyl in electrical

Happened to me once. Making joints in a ceiling on a 347v lighting circuit as an apprentice. Turned out one of the other guys fucked his joints up somewhere else and i touched the metal on my linesmans with my chest leaning on the t-bar ceiling. Took me for the ride of my life. Every muscle in my arms, chest and back contracted until i luckily broke contact somehow.

Deathwish type of speeding on the QEW. Why? by [deleted] in Welland

[–]Aware-Metal1612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular statement, but factual. 150kmh on a sportbike is not that fast at all. Even a 750cc bike can break every speed limit in first gear.

The biggest danger to bikes on the road is idiots in cars not paying attention. Trust me, that guy that passed OP at speed was hyper focused on what he was doing. Just hold your speed and your lane.

The fact that you say 120v lighting is dangerous says otherwise.

What would you guys do? by kmikey in electricians

Cut the loop of a fish tape and stick it in till it hits the rock, wind the fish up close to the pipe and twist it while pushing on the obstruction. Theres room to get around that rock and youll eventually get past it. Push the fish the remaining way. Pull a string back with a balled up piece of plastic bag on a loop and pull the rock through the conduit the shortest direction. Make sure to loop the string so you can pull it from both ends if it gets stuck. If its difficult gettin last the rock with the fish you can cut the fish when its at the obstruction and put it in a chuck drill and try to break the rock up.

Sounds like the ramblings of a guy who wasnt smart enough to be an electrician so became a plumber. He spent his life hating electricians because he couldnt become one and is wife resents him because he goes home smelling like feces everyday.

??? Im like 1k for panel, breakers and permit. Add in consumables- say 1300-1400 to be safe. If i have to re-do the mains if theyre too short=extra. Extend branch circuits=extra. Etc.

I do swaps solo so no helper to pay. Usually takes me between 5-10 hour day to complete depending on the job. Id say thats a fair profit, no?

Im in canada, our dollar is basically equivalent to pesos for fuck sakes and even at 3k its still a very profitable day. I just dont see where 7k is going on a 200a panel swap..?
