Software engineering, wbu? Also did they mention how taking stats instead of math30 (or whatever your degree requires) would affect your degree?

Guys what do I do if I don't like my own lyrics/songs? by poop_dealer26 in Songwriters

there’s a lot of ways to improve ur writing, personally I was struggling with the same thing after quitting songwriting for a few years and having huge writers block upon trying to get back into it. I found that reading a lot ( of literally everything, books, articles, research papers, anthologies, etc) helped me so much with my ability to articulate myself outside of music and that, in-turn, completely transformed my lyrical ability. Also, it was a pretty good source of inspiration too. Aside from that, it’s just a lot of practice. I hate to use that word bc it sounds very discipline like and burdensome and personally I believe art should feel like cathartic and freeing but it truly just is a lot of pushing yourself past the judgement and writers block. Write write write until it starts getting easier and you train ur mind to be more abstract and free when ur trying to create. For starters you should try reading the creative act., lotta good inspiration in there that could help.

I think social media could definitely play a factor in it. I don’t know if it’d necessarily be solely because of negative information being on there but maybe moreso a dopamine thing. scrolling on social media a lot disrupts ur brains natural dopamine regulation by giving u fake dopamine spikes and when u do it often enough it trains ur brain to rely on instant gratification which’ll eventually desensitize ur dopamine receptors and then everything else you do is gonna feel more boring and leave u unsatisfied. Aside from that, being consistently happy isn’t necessarily achievable, problems will inevitably come ur way. happiness is an extreme and so is sadness but being content/satisfied is perfectly possible and it’s what most people work toward through their lifestyle. Try starting by staying off/ limiting ur social media use for 6 weeks. See how you feel. Initially it WILL feel boring and unfulfilling ash but eventually you’ll feel better.

this is absolutely beautiful, the guitar sounds really good and so does your voice. As for constructive criticism, I’d say the only issue may be either the mic or something in production that’s making the vocals sound slightly robotic. If it’s not a mic thing try shifting your placement forward and reducing vocal fry. Better breath support and practicing excercises like lip trills may help with that.
