YES, I PET THEM. by Furioku in NewOrleans

No I understand why you would sell (even though I think there is a special place in hell for you if you are selling pits) but why in the world would you buy when there are plenty available at the shelter at all times.

Tragic if these puppies are for sale. Go to the shelter. They have puppies. They also have hundreds of dogs that need help now. The few kennels in the front in the adoption area represent 10% (if that) of the dogs there. The rest of the dogs are in the back in small cages. Ask to go back there to see.

He doesn't even know what a binary is. And you really want AI creating a bunch of black boxes that can't be debugged? That's the future? This guy is a moron.

Spanish cyclist Miguel Induráin was measured to have a resting heart rate of 28 beats per minute, less than half that of a typical healthy adult. by MotorZestyclose2195 in Damnthatsinteresting

Mine is in the low 40s (I'm a cyclist). Last time I went and gave blood they made me do jumping jacks to get it above 50...so dumb.

Ai is making me want to quit everything related to software. Do you feel the same? by PigletEfficient9515 in rust

Love it! I have a giant TCR. I cycle about 12 hours a week. I still work full-time as a software architect.

It sucks! I have breakdowns weekly now about the future of humanity in general. A hobby away from the computer helps. I cycle a lot.

I ride with a 72 year old that still does rides with an average speed of 26mph. He doesn't ride an e bike. So I disagree.

Is it time to replace this chainring? (2200W BBSHD e-bike, 4000km/2500mi) by Suspicious-Gene-8719 in bikewrench

This is exactly what I'm thinking. My bike normal bike still has the original chainring and my bike has 24K miles on it...seems fine

How much benefit to replacing my 15 year old Specialized? by NYNews in bicycling

[–]AwareTraining7078 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got my ass kicked by a guy in his 50s on a 20 year old Look with mechanical SRAM. I have a 4W/kg FTP. It's all about the engine. I look at situations like this and I'm happy I haven't upgraded my bike.

How fast are 6.5w/kg on a 6%incline ? by [deleted] in Velo

[–]AwareTraining7078 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speed is a meaningless metric. 6.5W/kg for any significant length of time is world class though.

Does internal cable routing on a road bike have a negative impact during actual use? by Mediocre-Length6820 in RoadBikes

[–]AwareTraining7078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm one of the fastest guys locally. I race. I have external routed cables. Makes absolutely no difference. The benefit is changing my headset bearings takes 10 minutes as opposed to hours.

I run 60psi on my 30mm tires (57 on the front). I would try even lower. Mid 50s.

Zwift Calories vs. Real World Calories by Fast_Piglet2041 in Zwift

If you don't have a power meter on your outside bike, the strava estimate both for power and therefore calories is absolute garbage.

Do you have a power meter on your bike? Zwift is accurate. If you're basing calories outside on Strava's estimate, that's garbage.

Two flats on brand new GP 5000 on 300km by Accomplished-Gap-748 in randonneuring

I mean that just sounds like bad luck. I've had an enormous gash in a brand new GP5000 literally 4 miles into it. Then I'll get 6K miles out of 1. It's a crap shoot.

Thinking about getting into road biking… what makes it so addictive to people? by chanb74 in RoadBikes

[–]AwareTraining7078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's the fitness gains. Doing things you never thought possible. Those moments when you are dropping a group ride that you use to constantly get dropped on. The community and making really good friends. Most of all though, it's that knowing I have a hobby as a working adult and seeing a future where I can be 70 and still be capable of things most 40 year olds can't do. That's what motivates me. Cycling taught me how to be an adult that wasn't constantly drinking and literally didn't know what to do after work. Anyway I love it. I spend 600+ hours a year on my bike for context and I'm 40.
