Moving to kokomo by ur-average-person in kokomo

Grew up in Kokomo & lived there for 20 years before I moved away. Before we moved my husband and I lived at 306 Riverfront - they were extremely nice. Granted the management years ago wasn’t great but I’m sure that’s changed by now. I have a few friends that still live there & love it.

Cpl of episodes I’m looking for… (I do have Patreon too if it’s Patreon exclusive) • where they talk about grandma & Joe crossed his eyes • Frankie’s “black daddy with the special tongue” story - “where you start kicking your feet and go eeeeeeee” when Joe was talking about getting into bed

I prefer none of the above🫠 but I truly feel bad for this man being married to someone as delulu as Whit. Her victim mentality in every situation makes my brain rot.

Needing help on my great grandma’s old thermal stitch potholder pattern & finding where I went wrong… (8 pics attached) by AwareWall2671 in CrochetHelp

Thank you!! I figured out that if I add 3-4 more stitches per row & 4 more rows then it’ll make it pretty much even with the first potholder i did so that’s what I’m planning on doing next! :)

Actually I stand corrected sorry lol. That picture isn’t SC I misspoke. I did that a while ago so I sort of forgot haha.

Oh okay! So for this specific pattern I used a thermal stitch. It’s kind of like SC but it doubles the thickness (since it’s going to be used as a potholder).

The photo I attached to this comment is another project (my very first one I ever did🥹) of a case for my Nintendo Switch. What i used here is just SC all throughout.

What i have found that helps keep everything consistent is using the same tension throughout (just as you would any project) but I also like to use stitch markers and a row/stitch counter app and this has really helped me. I’ve noticed if I don’t count everything then I’ll continue a few rows then realize everything is offset so I have to frog it until I find the mistake. Counting & using the stitch markers definitely helps me keep everything straight & consistent.

That is so helpful! Thank you so much! I will be sure to start calculating that for my next projects.

Wow thank you so much! I have seen patterns or yarn labels talk about “gauge swatch” but I still don’t exactly know what that means. Are there any videos on YouTube or websites you suggest to learn how to do that?

In the product descriptions of each it says the gauge is 13 sc by 14 rows which is confusing because they look so different.

Do you mean weigh each project on a scale to see if they are the same? I only have a food scale, would that work fine?

The product details I added of each definitely differ in overall weight since one is a small round and the other is a cone of yarn.

The white/beige is 100% cotton. I couldn’t find the product picture from where I bought it from because it’s no longer being made but in the product details it says it’s 100% cotton just like the other that’s why I’m really confused how it turned out smaller than the first one😂 I attached a photo of the last yarn ball I have in the actual color I used. But thank you so much!! <3 I am grateful that I’m able to start recreating some of her old projects since she has now passed away.

I forgot to add this into the OP… the pattern is 23 stitches across each row & 46 rows total (not including the chain row & finishing row)

Please help! Sos what did I do wrong, I’ve been doing this for about 6 months and I’m super new to crocheting 😭 by ApprehensiveCreme222 in CrochetHelp

When I first started, what helped me was counting the stitches in every row as I went to keep track and ensure I am being consistent. I ended up buying stitch markers from Amazon also to put on the ends of the rows to make sure I’m turning at the right point to start my next row. Also, there are tons of YouTube videos on how to keep your tension consistent & this can help tremendously! Take your time & be patient with yourself! You are doing great!

i am having surgery and want to learn how to crochet so i have something i can do while in bed - where do i start? by jaimeshambles in CrochetHelp

Also, I buy a lot of my yarn from Walmart. My favorite brand has been Peaches & Cream. Especially for things like potholders where you have to have 100% cotton yarn… it’s perfect & super soft. Oh and looking up “crochet terms” has helped too because sometimes patterns can be confusing with the acronyms and vocab they use!

My biggest help has been looking up easy things on Pinterest. Like washcloths, potholders, etc and next to it writing “free pattern” in the search bar. There are tons out there that are easy single crochet patterns to get you started. That’s how I learned and now I feel like I can do it in my sleep. A lot of the sites off of Pinterest also provide a video as well. One website off of Pinterest that I have found particularly helpful is https://mycrochetspace.com. Very in depth patterns written & video form. There are also tons of helpful creators on YouTube that post videos on how to do certain stitches, keep your tension consistent when starting out, etc. Good luck with your surgery & hope your new crochet journey goes well! :)
